Henry-Nicolas Tourneur shared thisHenry-Nicolas Tourneur shared thisOur latest #netflix CDN (Content Delivery Network) server science experiment (which I code-named "Mabel", after Grandma), set a record speed of 731 Gbps. This was with real production traffic, serving US East Coast customers, all from a single 2U machine. In terms of people served at once, it's probably best measured in "stadiums worth", which is hard to get your head around. It's not often people gather in those numbers, and even if they do - no photo really captures it. It's always cool to see things go super fast and be super efficient. I’m incredibly grateful for having had the opportunity to learn, grow, and work with so many diverse, talented, and passionate people from all over the world. When I joined in 1997, with little more than a passion for technology, I could not have imagined the journey ahead. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege to launch successful tech solutions across many domains at Swift including Sales, Finance, Customer Support, Ordering, Provisioning, Business Intelligence, Data & Transactions Screening, Swift connectivity and many more. Together with great technology partners (thank you!) we not only transformed Swift’s technology foundations but also brought agility to how we deliver value. The last five years have been the highlight of my career: leading our Platform Services group, responsible for compute, storage, database, and network engineering — the infrastructure that underpins the processing and delivery of every Swift message worldwide. None of this would have been possible without an outstanding team. Thank you to my leadership team, our agile coaches, finance, security and risk colleagues, and the entire Platform Services Tribe for your energy, commitment to excellence, and good humor along the way – you made the impossible possible. I leave proud of what we’ve accomplished together, and excited for what’s ahead for Swift. For me, it’s time to take a break to recharge before exploring where I can next bring value – I look forward to connecting with many of you along the way.

Henry-Nicolas Tourneur liked thisHenry-Nicolas Tourneur liked this10 years ago already, we launched BotFactory, Inc. and embarked on an incredible journey. What started as Carlos Ospina Tarazona and I reverse-engineering an old Ultimaker grew into a business helping customers around the world 10x’ing their electronics development. Along the way, we found incredibly talented cofounders/employees/partners, investors who believed in our mission, learned how to run every facet of a business, and went through so many highs and lows I stopped counting them a long time ago. More than anything, we have built incredible memories as a team. I will forever remember the early days, coding in the living room of our small apartment, building a product that all our suppliers swore just couldn’t be done; selling our first machine on Kickstarter; randomly meeting Larry Page at a Maker Faire; or being invited for a chat at the White House. There are also a lot of things I would have done differently in hindsight (taking WAY MORE PICTURES, for starters), but I love that we have built an open philosophy that prioritizes data above gut feelings/ego, pushes you back on your feet after a setback, and accepts feedback from unlikely sources. Also, and in the words of Annie Duke, let’s avoid resulting. My experience at BotFactory has shown me that where there is a will, there is a way, & that one can never dream too big. It’s annoying how cliché this all is, but I guess you must live through it to really get it. BotFactory’s potential is looking stronger than ever, and I know it is in great hands. As for me, having learned a lot and while entering a new phase in life, it’s now time to discover a new challenge in a new space. I am now ready and excited for this next chapter in my life. While I explore the next big challenges I want to dive into, I will be continuing my education on AI/ML and helping the startup community in NYC. I have also started a video series with some incredible people (Richard Mokuolu, Georgios (George) Kyriakou) where we take fun product concepts from idea to market (I hope to have more updates on that soon). Thank you Carlos Ospina Tarazona, Georgios (George) Kyriakou, Andrew Ippoliti, Michael Knox, Lawrence Richenstein, Mark Schneider, and the rest of the incredible team at BotFactory. In 2018 they did the same thing and left a thank you note for the hosts in 3 languages... On top of this... photo's have emerged of large groups of Japanese fans staying behind after the game to clean all of the stands. This isn't just a clean dressing room, it's a clear demonstration of values. It's a statement about respect, gratitude and attention to detail. The small things are the biggest indicator of the big things - your values. Huge respect for the Japanese national team and their wonderful culture, values and people.
