Fridge and freezer disposal service temporarily unavailable

We are currently unable to accept fridges and freezers at any of our Household Recycling Centres or via our large item collection service.

This is due to a UK-wide issue affecting fridge and freezer recycling facilities, which are experiencing reduced capacity and significant delays in processing appliances.

We are working closely with our waste management partners to restore this service as soon as possible.

If you need to dispose of a fridge or freezer, please use a retailer take-back service when buying new, keep in storage or look to an alternate collector such as AO.

If storing a fridge or freezer at home, ensure it is made safe by removing the doors or securing them shut to prevent access.

We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

The Mobile Library will be off the road between Monday 17 and Friday 28 August 2026, due to issues with driver availability.

Weston to Bath city centre update, July 2026

Following earlier consultation, we are due to start work on walking, wheeling and cycling improvements in Royal Victoria Park this autumn, subject to a 21-day statutory notice period that starts on 30 July 2026.

Update on proposed camera enforcement of traffic restrictions in Lower Lansdown

This consultation closed on 5 May 2026.

Analysis of the feedback we received indicated that a majority of respondents (57%) support our proposals.

While there were comments from objectors, many of these were outside the scope of the consultation and focused more on the Liveable Neighbourhood schemes themselves rather than the specific enforcement proposals.

Garden waste service changes from 13 July 2026

We've made changes to the garden waste subscription service. 

The service is now fully digital, and you no longer need to put a printed sticker on your green garden waste bin.

We’ve made improvements to the garden waste subscription service to make it more efficient, more reliable, and better for the environment. As part of this upgrade, the service is now fully digital. By removing the need for printed stickers on garden waste bins, we’re reducing unnecessary waste and streamlining the way we manage collections. This change supports our commitment to operating more sustainably.

The process is simpler than ever for you. Once you’ve subscribed, you don’t need to wait for a sticker or attach anything to your bin. Our on-board systems and digital database tells our crews which households have an active subscription, ensuring your bin is collected as normal. If a property does not have a valid subscription, the team will not be able to empty the bin. 

If you do not renew your subscription within eight weeks of it expiring, we will arrange to retrieve the garden waste bin from your property. This helps us make sure our bins are used correctly and remain available for households that need them.

Update on the Pulteney Estate LN area, June 2025

Updated vehicle dimensions

Please note we are currently in process of updating the guidance which will include updated dimensions of electric refuse collection vehicles which will be in use from October 2026.

Through-traffic restriction made permanent under TRO

A decision has now been reached to make the New Sydney Place and Sydney Road through-traffic restriction permanent under Traffic Regulation Order 25-012.
