Hey there! I'm Steffon.  I'm 27, ADHD, a nerdy dork, and this is mostly just stuff that makes me smile.

This person is too good to do this for free.

I mean, stop motion animation is always impressive in the abstract; but it's even MORE impressive (at least to me) when we can see the person's hand holding the figure, and the figure is a poseable toy much like stuff I've played with as a child, and it's all taking place in what seems to be someone's home; that removes the distance of "oh film artists can do a lot of cool things" with its abstract respect, and brings it into the realm of "WOW this is a thing that real people are somehow able to do, with a lot of work".

Worldbuilder: I can't use this town name again, it'd be confusing for the reader.

Real life people: This is a great spot for another Springfield.

Local Guide: You be seein' Dragonnest up ahead now.

Adventurer: Your home, right? I don't see any dragons here.

Local Guide: No, me lad, I'm from a diff'rent Dragonnest a hunda' miles down the valley. This Dragonnest here be named after my Dragonnest.

Adventurer: And does your Dragonnest have dragons?

Local Guide: Nay, we got no dragons. My Dragonnest be named after da Dragonnest in de old country.

Adventurer: And that one got dragons.

Local Guide: Nah, that Dragonnest be named after da ancient Dragonnest from the sagas.

Adventurer: Surely that mythical Dragonnest had dragons.

Local Guide: Noo, that Dragonnest be named after-

Adventurer: Enough! Forget I asked.

arknights failures in worldbuilding are contrasted by its immense successes and Columbia as a whole is handled INCREDIBLY in arknights; the merging of manifest destiny and the prison industrial complex in the pioneer system, the idea that if 9/11 did not happen (or happened elsewhere) they would MAKE it happen, it's all wonderful

but one of my favorite parts is the president, Mark Max. the little bird that sits on Joe Birden Conrad Jackson's shoulder. because we hear about vice-presidential elections in Lone Trail; and while it's unclear at first the implication becomes clear as time goes on that the position of president DOESN'T change. the actual leader of Columbia has never changed. it has been this same figure for all of Columbia's history and the vice president, the bushes and bidens, are subservient to the true ruler of columbia.

and in a literal sense mark max is a precursor AI that seems to have a somewhat omnipresent perspective and you can read that as AK arguing for the the ruler of the US literally being its surveillance system. BUT there are two other key aspects. the first one is that mark max is viewed as a revolutionary war hero and was elected president then. the second is that the capital of columbia is Max DC. and like when i first played lone trail i thought it was just being cute with typical american excess - maximum district of columbia - but then i realized. no. it's named for the first president. just like washington DC.

and THAT'S where it really clicked for me; the president of columbia in arknights IS the founding fathers. all of them. archaic, revolutionary, violent ideals THEMSELVES are the the rulers of Columbia and they can never be removed. america in real life always asks "what would the founding fathers think". columbia does not need to. he is there. he will tell you. and he will not permit dissent.

"why was the ending so rushed it was so good up until the ending" the answer is the same every time no matter the media you're talking about: the author is a bee and had to go back to the hive to defend the queen
