It's one thing to fall in love with a girl. It's another thing completely to fall in love with your best friend's sister
We're back for 2013, and we have some pre-season announcements.
1) One of our 2012 mods, catchmelike, has moved on to other fannish pastures. She was great and we'll miss her! To help with the workload, we've reached out to jrho, who has agreed to join the 2013 mod team. We're excited to have her mad organization skills on board. Everyone, please welcome her!
2) Due to LJ's stability issues and, therefore, its unsuitability for running a challenge of BBB's caliber and size, we've decided to move BBB to Dreamwidth under the same name. The BBB archive will remain on LJ as is. We also welcome you to post all of your previous big bang fics, art, and mixes to our AO3 collection. We are working on setting up the layout on the new DW comm now, and we look forward to officially kicking off the 2013 season by the end of the month!
3) To ease this transition, we will be posting the schedule of BBB 2013 to LJ so LJ users will know when to wander over. We also have a feed set up so you can read from LJ: bbb_dreamwidth.
We wanted to try something new this year, as it is apparently the year of testing stuff out. ;) Lots of people sent us feedback over the course of the challenge, but we'd like to gather feedback in a more public and organized way, much like a survey you might fill out after attending a conference or using a website. So we have a poll!
If you have any feedback on something we didn't address in the poll, please leave a comment. We'd love to hear from you!
(However, this is not a place to pick fights! Feel free to discuss things, but please remain civil.)
((This is also not a band suggestion post. We're looking more for policy and/or structure feedback.))
This year we've revamped the master lists to fit into fewer posts; part of that means editing some of the information for length. Please make sure you always read the full header at the actual fic post, and drop a comment if you see any mistakes!
Title: Bound to the Beat Band(s): My Chemical Romance, Fall Out Boy Pairing(s): Bob/Patrick (Bob/Brian, Bob/OMC, Patrick/Anna, Patrick/Brendon, nonromantic Pete/Patrick, Gerard/Brian, Mikey/Pete, Ryan/Spencer, Jamia/Frank) Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 37,400 Warnings: Innate Dominant/submissive identities, soulbonding, prescription drug use and misuse in conjunction with soulbonds, consent issues discussed in regards to soulbonding, reference to canon suicide attempt, BDSM, minor OC character death, still-a-band!AU, a Will who is NOT William Beckett. Notes: Huge thanks to Ari, Jessie and the other twitter girls for all the help with the actually execution. Largest thanks to Helen78 and Cesare for allowing me to play in this wonderful world to begin with. Thank you so much. It was a privilege. Summary: In a near canon world where orientation refers to dominance or submission, not sexuality, almost everyone has a soulmate that is supposed to complement their personality, biology, orientation and heart. Most people look forward to the day when the psionic bond sparks into existence, connecting them to their other halves. However, a trauma left Bob wanting anything but the bond he sees as a dangerous trap, and he takes matters in his own hands to chemically prevent his bond from effecting him. Patrick doesn't know what he did wrong but he knows that for some reason, his soulmate has rejected him and he has to learn to live with that. Between their pasts, their bands, and their hopes, neither of them expects end up where they do - so close with so much distance still between them. (Inspired by the Bound and Determined universe created by Helen78 and Cesare. This fic was written with the authors' permission and knowledge that many elements of the original concept were adjusted to fit my own universe.)
A sort of fairy tale. In which Brendon is the much maligned crofters' son and Spencer is the human Guardian of the Faerie King's Roses (yes, roses. it's a job okay. someone has to do it). Their stars briefly align, they fall in love, and have to beat a curse older than time to be together. Loosely, very very very loosely based on the Ballad of Tamlin, with a smattering of various global folk and fairy tales thrown in for good measure. Takes place in a parallel world that is a mishmash of Ireland and Las Vegas just because that's how I roll. Very much an AU.
