zacaronie
close mics, understated vocals, lyrics minimizing 'tonight is the night' conviction (but still somehow directly confrontational, focusing on the complex implications of romance), uncanny-valley-esque electronic instruments, a de-emphasis of the viola, and an alienating final song with a beat that meanders through the coda until it's cut off? this is a pop album completely inverted by someone who loves the genre. for me, it's one of the highest apexes in experimental music.
