hippygeorge This albun is a welcome addition to the band's canon. Well structured deep space jams, the kind that hit your inner being and put that mushroom smile on your face!
    salchilb thumbnail
salchilb El Supremo has such an impressive sound and each track builds on the last. What a leadout! One of my favorite instrumental bands.
    Favorite track: Signor Morte Improvvisa.
    martymcmartman thumbnail
martymcmartman my favorite release from this group. music for chilling in a haze but maybe you'll cry a little. Not just because the riffs are so good but because this thing gets into your emotions, it digs in and stays with you. It's a Stoner Rock masterpiece probably, but who is counting Favorite track: Solitario.

Mouth of Gravel Their debut album from three years ago is one of my top ten favorite rock records of all time. Already have the digital from the Ripple subscription but I will absolutely be purchasing this on vinyl as well. Shadow of Jupiter is on permanent “must buy” status.

There’s several records I’m looking forward to this year, but nothing hyped me up like a new SoJ release! Can’t wait to hear the full thing dudes!

  1. TURNED TO STONE Chapter 2: Masamune & Muramasa
by Howling Giant / Sergeant Thunderhoof
    supported by
    davidherrold thumbnail
davidherrold This album is like peanut butter and jelly. Sgt Thunderhoof and Howling Giant have created an amazing story of two competing sword smiths that is epic in scope and sound. If you like either band, this should be in your collection.
    kingmaxwell thumbnail
kingmaxwell Cinematic and precise. Really enjoyable metallic tinged prog. Seems like a legit labor of love too. Favorite track: Howling Giant - Masamune.
    zeppelined thumbnail
zeppelined This is such a cool concept brilliantly executed. Heavy prog that never turns itself inside out with complexity, a beautiful way to tell a classic epic tale. Favorite track: Howling Giant - Masamune.

    Dave Aftandilian thumbnail
Dave Aftandilian Consistently mind-expanding across two 20-minute tracks. The art makes me think of Jade Warrior, and there's a bit of a prog vibe to these carefully constructed stoner/psych trips.
    mannes66 thumbnail
mannes66 2021 was time to get a tattoo from Hoofs artist and I chose the mandela in the middle of Turned To Stone album.
It will protect me for the rest of my life.

    mypeaceb4u thumbnail
mypeaceb4u One of my favorite bands, They continued to succeed in every album that they make. wish you guys the greatest success in all that you do. Favorite track: I Am The Gravity.
    Smekermann thumbnail
Smekermann I appreciate that they saved all this material for an EP. I couldn't see these songs fitting on TTD or Eye the Tide, but it's still very distinctly Spaceslug.

Space Sabbath is derivative but really fun and brooding, and the 2001 movie sample works beautifully. Ephemeral sounds drugged out and very reminiscent of 60s psychedelia. I Am the Gravity is surprisingly aggressive and rocken, with some great brooding riffs in the latter half.

A unique entry in their catalog, imho. Favorite track: Bemused And Gone.
    Derp Tables thumbnail
Derp Tables not quite as driving as TTD or Lemanis, but there are some wonderful moments on this album. love the floundering guitar squeaks in the beginning of Space Sabbath.

2nd fav track is bemused and gone Favorite track: Space Sabbath.

    veenstar thumbnail
veenstar The music is the soundtrack to the blast furnaces of the steel industry of old Pittsburgh. Fiery and deafening. That said its a great blend of melody and explosive power. I appreciate the relatively short song lengths as well. Keeps moving. Favorite track: Everything Fades.
    lloydd thumbnail
lloydd Desert rock as it should be.I can literally smell and feel the heat of the desert and i live on the prairies of Alberta. Favorite track: Clearmountain.
    adamdoom thumbnail
    adamdoom This is it.

Whatever it is you are looking for, you can stop. Blue Heron is it.

This is your life now. Favorite track: We Breathe Darkness.

    Bertrand Marchal thumbnail
Bertrand Marchal It's essentially for he wailing hoarse vocals - not your typical Trad Doom singer. He brings about a lot of nostalgia feel; the music it-self avoids all corny flights of epicness, it follows rather a kind of resigned songwriting favouring brooding emotions.
    Miles Egan thumbnail
Miles Egan I have to admit I'm not sold on the cover art but this is one of the very small handful of recent metal records I keep coming back to. Favorite track: As Titans.
    Piper Haqim thumbnail
Piper Haqim If anyone ever had a template for a perfect epic doom album, it’s this album right here. A Haunting, choking, blanket of fear descending down on you. Favorite track: Obsess and Regress.

    Teasy thumbnail
Teasy Fuck racism in any form. I came for the good cause and stayed for the music. Especially the second half of this comp (starting with Krallice) is top notch and features some of my favorite USBM acts. Thank you Bindrune Records!
