noozii A wonderfully playful yet melancholic album Favorite track: No Soul to Save.
    fakelexluthor thumbnail
fakelexluthor There's so much to digest that I have to come back another time, but Steve Lamos killed it on this album. Favorite track: Desdemona.

    bmurator thumbnail
bmurator US Progressive / Post-Black Metal. Take Dream Theater & crank it up to 11, add wonderful BM in the mix as well as a fantastic vocalist (unlike DT!) & you don't even begin to scratch the surface of how good this is... :) Melodies & riffs & outbursts of sheer skill simply everywhere! No faves yet & likely ever! Highly recommended!!!
    klamath100 thumbnail
klamath100 Opens with a Voivod / Rush bassline, proceeds with Horrendous trademark unhinged vocals and glorious twin guitars. Two Candles is probably the whackiest track I have heard in a long time - Horrendous death metal meets The Black Parade rock opera. AOTY contender! Favorite track: Two Candles.
    eManRenaissanc thumbnail
eManRenaissanc Their first album was great, but this one tops it by a lot. It's super heavy and absolutely glorious, eclectic, and awe-inspiring. A pleasant surprise, and one of my faves of the year so far! Favorite track: Two Candles.

Phuzz So rott-y. So good. Favorite track: Escalating Rot.
    positronicping thumbnail
positronicping Last year my filth of the year was Filth, this year it's Foetorem. A DM crusher that moves with purpose, this album is rife with putreful vocals and scrumptious tempo switches, as well as some great festering melodies woven into the overall rot. Get wallowing asap. Favorite track: Rebirth In Morbid Disgust.
    StiffUpper thumbnail
StiffUpper A pustulent, oozing slab of Danish death metal for our sick enjoyment. Press play and watch the entire world peel away to reveal the decay beneath. Favorite track: Peeled Face Mask.
    sashavonkarl74 thumbnail
sashavonkarl74 I have been listening to this non-stop since the full release, it is oozing DM awesomeness in its purest gruesome form! Let the Danes' new album be a top contender of DM AOTY even though we're in Q1 and it is not over... this opus is a list wrecker!! Favorite track: Oozing With Pustulent Fluids.

kylefaverfan Solid stoner rock tunes Favorite track: Reflection.
    Lute FP thumbnail
Lute FP Fucking killer. It’s like the best of the best of ‘Sabbath (think the killer off-kilter rhythmic brilliance of The Wizard) with a touch of psychedelic madness in the vein of Syd-era Floyd.

Their later stuff gets more psychedelic and more polished, and I’m still trying it on for size. But this right here hits me right where I like it.

David Freshman Jordsjo is one of the very finest Norwegian Progressive groups ever! I own ALL of their work. At times the music has a pastoral element to it, at other times if rivals Gentle Giant, King Crimson and other amazing groups, like Camel too. Jordsjo create Music this is entrancing and will surely please any Progressive minded person.

sashavonkarl74 Thank you Chris for changing your mind on the newest creation by Austrian Transilvania! Here the production feels slightly more modern, but the relentless pummelling and riffs immediately reminded of early blackened thrash work by Ancient Rites (esp. "Diabolic Serenades"). The vox here is more of the raspy throaty type, but overall an excellent new album by the Austrians. The CDs were ordered through Invictus :) Favorite track: Thrall.
