Nick Bradey Another superb set from Anchor and Burden .
Keep them coming! 👍👍👍 Favorite track: Behind the Veil.
    Carsten Pieper thumbnail
Carsten Pieper This aftergow/aftermath of the predecessor Extinction Level still is a dire affair albeit musically fascinating when these gifted musicians unleash their "spontaneuous compositions" on the world.
Album closer Crystal Cabin is a silver lining on the sonic horizon but couldn't be selected as favorite so I went for the opener with the optimistic title ;-) Favorite track: Shards of Death.
    Frank Hardlic thumbnail
Frank Hardlic indeed, another attack on your musical brain, extremely rewarding. Strong dark crunchy fuzzy stuff.

  2. Molten Burden
    by Anchor and Burden

    Nick Bradey thumbnail
Nick Bradey Excellent set from Markus Reuter who maintains his high standards with aplomb . He goes from strength to strength. An excursion with jazz musicians what be interesting- an album of improvisations would be of immense interest . However I eagerly await whatever Markus delivers in the ( hopefully) near future .You ease the pain of lockdown - perhaps you should be available on the NHS 😂👍👍

Carsten Pieper This Anchor and Burden release really was missing in my collection and came as a welcome bonus to the Kosmonautik Pilgrimage release video stream. Thanks a lot!

    Robert Wright-Stasko thumbnail
Robert Wright-Stasko I am strangely obsessed with this series of albums. I find something new on each listen. For those "in the know," Anchor and Burden is definitely a supergroup. Favorite track: Eminence.

    Nick Bradey thumbnail
Nick Bradey All of the Anchor and Burden releases are excellent . Markus is on top form as always .
Partly reminiscent of Stickmen but with more improvisation. I enjoy music from both of these sources. It would be excellent if Markus performed a session with Stickmen .
Hopefully both Stickmen and Markus will at least consider this possibility.

    Cujo DeSockpuppet thumbnail
Cujo DeSockpuppet I believe this is the first I bought from the band, I have purchased other work with and by Markus for years, mostly as CDs. This is an amazing lineup. Keep putting them out and I'll keep buying.

    Now on to the music.

This is intense yet keeps rolling along with fresh ideas throughout. This is one of my favorites for driving as it keeps me engaged. Sorry, don't own a boat so I can't comment on that aspect.

    Carsten Pieper thumbnail
Carsten Pieper Many knots to form a long string, so to say. The first album of Markus Reuter's new outfit Anchor and Burden makes me want more, but Markus already announced much more to come ;-)
Two touch guitars, keyboards/electronics and drums. The one tag provided (among "Berlin") is simply "rock", but if you know Markus & Co you might not be surprised to learn, that this offering is on the experimental side of rock music (and arguably sometimes beyond). But that is a good thing, of course :-)

    Frank Hardlic thumbnail
Frank Hardlic This supergroup from Berlin is the true heir of the improvising King Crimson of the 1973-74, 2000, and the 1997-99 ProjeKcts periods. Amazing! Advise not to do ironing, dishwashing, dogwalking, or child care while listening to it.
    Carsten Pieper thumbnail
Carsten Pieper Buying (or pre-ordering) MoonJune music feels like a good way to start the year :-)
The previewable pieces sound very promising so I'm eagerly awaiting the release date of this adventurous project's newest chapter.

    Carsten Pieper thumbnail
Carsten Pieper As I liked all previous Anchor and Burden albums very much (all two of them ;-) ), Markus Reuter's iapetus label's Black Friday campaign got me ordering this without hesitation (or pre-listening, which I very rarely forgo). Markus et al earn a little trust, don't they? :-)
    Nick Bradey thumbnail
Nick Bradey Amazing - contemplative music requiring close attention. Markus goes from strength to strength. I look forward to his next project. Each of his releases brings something new and wonderful.
    Favorite track: Mother Tongue.
    David Markfield thumbnail
David Markfield Have not been disappointed by a single Anchor & Burden release (including Markus's A&B and Bernhard's Magnet). A true band product where all four musicians contribute equaling to a greater whole. Favorite track: Skull Snake.

    SlithyToves thumbnail
SlithyToves Lots of room for the artists to manoeuvre, yet it all comes together to make sense. I can’t help but think of it as incredibly friendly music, both in the listening, and the creation. Schweizer is great whether she is scintillating in the background, or in the foreground spinning out phrases that are both lyrical and idiosyncratic. The energy never drops and someone is always doing something that captivates the ear at any given moment, making it incredibly rewarding listening.
    Sandeep Mehta thumbnail
Sandeep Mehta Amazingly fresh. Love the rhythmic propulsion that Cherry triggers...thanks for digging this one out!
