  1. Long Time To Be Gone
    by Nora Brown
    supported by
    brit_b thumbnail
brit_b I have listened to bluegrass and old-timey style banjo music for many years. Nora Brown has the most poetic interpretation of these styles that I have heard so far. She is the John Fahey of banjo (but also with striking vocals). Favorite track: Little Satchel.
    Michael Mueller thumbnail
Michael Mueller There's something otherworldly about Nora Brown.

She is an innovative, highly accomplished stylist and true artist who somehow taps into the very essence American Primitivism right at the point it intersects with the usually obscured introspective heart of Bluegrass.

She's more than a prodigy, she's an oracle. A time-traveller. Listening to her music is both transportive and transformative, such is her hypnotic precision and liquid feel.

Can she get better? I can't wait to find out.
    Favorite track: Cumberland Gap.
    jiristepan thumbnail
jiristepan I've been obsessed with Nora Brown's new album Long Time To Be Gone few months now. At seventeen, she plays like a mythical banjo legend and her music touches me with something terribly believable. Enchanting.

  2. Immanent Fire
    by Emily Jane White
    supported by
    Alice M. thumbnail
Alice M. I already wrote so many silly comparisons that I don’t have much to lose now:
This sometimes sounds like Emma Ruth Rundle making soft covers of Chelsea Wolfe tracks. But that’s probably just because I don’t know that many singer-songwriter.
TL; DR: Soothing as hell; don’t pay too much attention to the weird old-school-looking cover art. Favorite track: Entity.

I admire her voice, the lyrics, this dark, captivating music. I don't really like the other albums, they are too playful for me. This one and “They moved in s exceptional. Expressive. I listen to especially this one over and over again. Favorite track: Metamorphosis.
    Dimitrios Kountouris thumbnail
Dimitrios Kountouris Absolutely beautiful and inspiring. Favorite track: Infernal.

saratomb There's not a skip really on this album. It flows amazingly and makes you want for more. I like the doom and I like the jazz in it. Messa's at their best according to my humble opinion. Favorite track: Suspended.
    Bethany thumbnail
Bethany Deep, dark, atmospheric, and beautiful. Sara’s vocals, both ethereal and powerful, blend seamlessly with the instrumentals. Favorite track: Pilgrim.

    patburkejr28 thumbnail
patburkejr28 It’s crazy to me that Doves is considered a “bonus track”. It’s legitimately one of the best rap songs I’ve heard this decade. The rest of the album is amazing as well the production in particular is very varied and sounds great. Love this album.

    Favorite track: Doves.

caffeinatedmetalhead So glad that this album was recommended to me from a member of the r/doommetal community. I've enjoyed some specific types of atmospheric black metal, especially acts whose themes touch on nature. Old Growth does that and more, embracing the themes and style of Cascadian black metal, the lyrics and music evocative of the old growth forests (no pun intended) of the Cascades and Olympic Mountains. Best listened to on a cloudy/foggy hike or when out in the forest. Favorite track: Old Growth.
    Drew Music thumbnail
Drew Music Sweet Jesus this is fucking incredible. Like a blend of Ghost Bath, King Apathy, and Agalloch- and it turns out, the sole member is actually none other than Matthias, formerly of King Apathy! I can't recommend this one enough, it does 'that sound' absolutely fucking perfectly.

anguish-and-sorcery One of my favorite albums. Masterpiece 10/10 Favorite track: Queen of the Woodland Realm.
