Summary: Giles’ new assignment is an honour. Really it is.

A/N: Double drabble.
It was an honour to be assigned as Watcher to an active Slayer. Of course, it was only necessary because the girl’s previous Watcher had been killed, but still, out of everyone the Council could have chosen, including some who had mentored potential Slayers who had never been called to fulfil their duty, Rupert Giles was the one who had been selected, so yes, a singular honour.
Despite him never having even trained one of the potentials, the Council were putting their trust and their faith in him, and Giles would not let them down. He would take charge of Miss Summers, he would guide and teach her, he would unlock her full potential, he would hone her skills. He…
He would have to move to California, of all places, and take on the job of school librarian as well as the role of Watcher to his Slayer, and… what sort of name was Buffy anyway? What were her parents even thinking when they named her? Well, they were American, so he supposed it could have been worse.
Nevertheless, Buffy Summers was now his responsibility, so tomorrow he would fly to California and get settled in. Everything would be fine.
