Looking for a beta...
Here I go, diving into fannishness again. I'm working on a longish but one-shot Walking Dead fic that's a little outside my usual range in some respects. Would anybody be willing/interested in beta-reading a fic that's a sort of a fix-it for the "Welcome to the Tombs" (episode 3x16)?
New obsessions
So I've caught up through the beginning of S5 of The Walking Dead, and it is addictive. While it's not a perfect show by any means, I feel like it takes a lot of things that were intriguing about Lost and actually goes somewhere with them, while very conspicuously avoiding some of Lost's major screw-ups. (Not that it doesn't have problems of its own, of course. I can't think of a single other instance of Expendable Black Guy Syndrome that's equally egregious.)
Those of you who have known me down the years and failed to repress your memories adequately will be unsurprised to learn that I've embarked on an Epic Fix-It Fic of Doom. I think I'll post it in one go instead of sequentially, and it's actually femmeslash (are the kids still calling it femmeslash these days?) instead of mostly gen, but it would seem that I'm reverting to type.

I think I'll post it in one go instead of sequentially, and it's actually femmeslash (are the kids still calling it femmeslash these days?) instead of mostly gen, but it would seem that I'm reverting to type.

Fannish updates: Hate Tumblr with the fiery passion of a thousand burning suns. It seems pretty useless for communities; if I'm wrong about that, I'm strongly disinclined to bother learning why and how.
So Fox is thinking of rebooting The X-Files? Bad idea, guys.
I've been getting into The Walking Dead (AMC, not comic) and have currently gotten through the first two seasons. I've (deliberately) seen spoilers for some major characters in the next few seasons, though, so I'm braced for certain levels of denial. I must say, it's disappointing that there's not more Rick/Shane slash. Is there a treasure trove that I'm overlooking somewhere?

So my fic-writing muse is AWOL at the moment, and I did promise zelda_zee I'd try to write her some Kvothe/Bast... But I can offer a rec, a bit of fan erotica that author Mary Robinette Kowal wrote as part of a charity drive with Patrick Rothfuss. She's got the narrative voice down cold, and the fic has a little something for everyone. It's called "The Wind Comes," because of course it is, and you can find it in a lovely .pdf here.
As threatened earlier, there's more fantasy casting as well.
