Aren't you fed-up with garbage, full-of-shit sites where nobody actually communicates, such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Twitter? Do you wish your old friends who've migrated to those sites would return to LiveJournal? The the_lj_revival community has been set up with that aim in mind, and you are invited to join it. If you are already on LiveJournal and still have a Facebook profile, and would like to see more people returning to LJ or setting up accounts here, we invite you to post a link to this community on your Facebook Timeline. If you would like to find out who is still using LiveJournal and make contact with those who are already here, you are invited to copy and paste the 'about me' questions on the profile page and post them with your answers to the community.

Fundraiser for Read Between the Bars and Downtown Parking Petition

Arizona's books-to-prisoners program, Read Between the Bars, will be celebrating its five-year anniversary at La Cocina, 201 North Court Avenue, on Tuesday, June 12. The hours are 5:00 to 10:00 p.m. To kick off the evening, Nowhere Man and A Whiskey Girl will perform from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., followed by other musicians to be announced. There will also be a raffle for prizes, with tickets available for a suggested donation.

La Cocina will donate 10% of its net profits that evening to Read Between the Bars, so make plans to dine out if you'd like to support the many people affected by mass incarceration in Arizona.

On a totally unrelated note, there's a petition on Change.org if you want to tell the city_of_tucson to make more downtown parking free during the Modern Streetcar construction.

Counter Culture on Mill

There is a very real possibility that Counter Culture will be reopening in the near future. This time on Mill Avenue in a 6100 square feet location with a full kitchen. We will also be a full venue with a real stage and sound system, a bar and a retail location specializing in locally produced art music and fashion. It's time for us freaks to take back Mill! Think positive thoughts, help us generate some buzz and spread the good word!

ps: We have an amazing opportunity here and are currently negotiating free rent for our first year, but we need help: partners, sponsors and investors. Even small amounts of capital will help, and while there is no such thing as a risk-free investment, free rent for a year, complete commercial kitchen, in between a large parking garage and the MADCAP Theaters, at the base of two (currently under construction) condo towers and walking distance from the nation's largest public research university (asu) makes this a no-brainer! please spread the word and contact andres.yuhnke@gmail.com with any interest. thanks!
