Here to help you change your relationship with stress

Welcome! I’m Dr. Ni-Cheng Liang, a mother and wife, cancer survivor, pulmonary physician, and mindfulness teacher. More importantly, I deeply believe that stress happens! It’s a natural part of life. What comes next is up to you. To help you get there, my colleagues and I teach mindfulness, an evidence-based skill that is innate in all of us that encompasses practical and experiential solutions for dealing with stress. Join a supportive group of people and learn how to respond in healthier ways to stress, chronic illness, and other life challenges.

Alison Reminick, MD
Uniquely Powerful

Dr. Ni-Cheng Liang is a pulmonary physician whose teaching is uniquely powerful because she speaks from the lived perspective of both doctor and patient. Drawing on her personal experience as a human, doctor and patient, she brings rare authenticity to topics such as mindfulness, burnout, and self-compassion, grounding her insights in both clinical evidence and deeply human experience. Her talks are thoughtful, humble, and often gently humorous, allowing learners to engage with difficult subjects in a way that feels safe and meaningful. Residents, medical students, and colleagues alike leave her sessions feeling inspired, seen, and better equipped to care for both their patients and themselves. She is a courageous and generous educator who consistently looks out for junior colleagues and models what it means to practice medicine with compassion and integrity.

Seeking Sublimity
Words of Wisdom

Thank you for your kind, compassionate, life-changing advice. I am starting to make my way through these podcasts and find them incredibly valuable. I can already see the positive effects in my relationships at work and home. I also highly recommend investing in one of Dr Mahoney's retreats and/or having Dr Liang speak at your institution. I was blessed to experience both recently. These women are brilliant!

Zzsocal
Patient Perspective

As a patient with chronic illness, I appreciate this podcast because the hosts offer a grounded exploration of mindfulness with examples that are relatable and actionable. It's calm yet engaging and encourages self-awareness rather than quick fixes. With every
challenge I face during my disease progression, I feel more capable to handle the emotional toll of illness by shifting my perspective.

Integrative Medicine

Integrative Medicine

As part of my cancer journey, I developed a close relationship with integrative medicine having used it in my healing with conventional and complementary approaches (mind-body therapies, for example). I’m always open to speaking about my personal journey, or providing an introduction to integrative medicine.

meganbb

I’m a wife and mother of two, cancer survivor, pulmonary physician, and mindfulness teacher. Your health and wellness, alongside my peers, colleagues, and community members, is the central purpose of my career. This includes my current role as Director of Pulmonary Integrative Medicine at Coastal Pulmonary Associates, as well as time as a former 12-year volunteer Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, as for the Medical Student-Run Free Clinic for uninsured patients.

Here’s the thing: allopathic medicine and my participation in a clinical trial saved my life from cancer. But integrative therapies such as mindfulness meditation, acupuncture, and yoga have enriched my quality of life significantly. That’s why I’m so committed to promoting physician wellness and teaching mindfulness to patients, healthcare professionals, and their students.
