Has anyone heard of this restaurant? I saw it on Yelp. They said it was one of the oldest in Atlanta~ i was wondering why i have not heard of it before.
It's nearing time to re-authorize the school lunch program. Right now, sodas and fast food are becoming the norm, and partly because of that, one in THREE children today is at risk for diabetes, obesity, and other major health problems. Over 200 picnics will be happening nationwide that day in support of Real Food In Schools. We'd like to see more money for school lunches, more fresh vegetables, and more support for programs bringing fresh food to kids.

I live in the Smyrna/Marietta area and I've been having a hard time finding Morningstar Farms Corn Dogs lately. I just bought the last two boxes from the Publix on South Cobb Drive in Smyrna, the Publix on Delk Road in Marietta is completely out, and both Wal-Marts on Cobb Parkway have been completely out for a month or more.
Does anyone know what the deal is on these, or where I can find some (preferably on sale of course)? It doesn't look like they've been discontinued.
This months potluck theme is South American (no mex or tex mex). SOOO~ here is the recipe i am going to make.... what do you think would be a good substitute for chicken??
My aunt used to make this all the time when i was a little girl... i still remember that it tasted fantastic!!!
On another note~ i was in Sev over the weekend and i saw a vegan chocolate bar made from agave. It was kind of expensive so i didn't pick it up. Has anyone tried this??
* 4 teaspoons agar-agar, powder * 1 cup cold water * 1 3/4 cups granulated sugar * 3/4 cup light corn syrup * 1 tablespoon vanilla extract * 1/4 cup cornstarch * 1/4 cup confectioners' sugar
Directions
1. Soak agar-agar in ½ cup cold water until water is absorbed and powder is completely wet, about 10 minutes. 2. Meanwhile, combine ½ cup cold water, 1¾ cup granulated sugar and ¾ cup corn syrup in saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring constantly over medium heat and taking care to prevent boiling over. 3. Reduce heat slightly and continue cooking and stirring until sugar mixture thickens and forms a strand or ball in cold water. Immediately remove from heat and set aside. 4. Heat agar-agar over medium heat and stir until agar-agar softens and dissolves. 5. Spoon into mixer bowl. 6. Add vanilla extract and, with beaters on high seed, slowly pour hot sugar mixture onto agar-agar. 7. Continue beating on high speed for about 10 minutes, or until mixture turns white and resembles well-beaten egg whites. 8. Combine cornstarch and confectioner's sugar in bowl. 9. Generously sprinkle an 8 inch round baking pan with half of cornstarch mixture. 10. Pour agar-agar mixture into pan. 11. Sprinkle top with more cornstarch and sugar to coat well. 12. After "marshmallows" firm up, slice into pieces, wrap in plastic and store in an airtight container in refrigerator, or serve.
I'm working at a convention that has a lot of staff and teachers who are vegetarian and/or have gluten and wheat allergies! We also won't have a fridge nearby. Any suggestions for snacks? I don't mind making stuff beforehand (other people will be as well) but I'm not sure about food that doesn't need refrigeration.
so i ended up making Persian Lentil Soup for my potluck. Ofcourse i made veggie meatballs It was rather bland so i ended up doubling the spices and adding a few more.
