Plot

Koh Eun-ho (Ji Jin-Hee) is a doctor who goes to Jeju Island to work in a clinic. His father owns a hospital, and had divorced his mother when he was a child to marry a barmaid. There, Koh Eun-ho builds a relationship with the timid Seo Jung-eun (Ko Hyun-Jung). Jung-eun starts out as a mute person, due to the fact that she was traumatized in the past, therefore she chooses not to speak a word. She is capable, but very unwilling. However, Eun-ho helps her get over the past, and motivates Jung-eun to be heard. Jung-eun is ever so grateful to Eun-ho, and the bond between them seem very strong.

When Eun-ho builds up the courage to find his mother, Jung-eun finally speaks out telling him that he must come back to her. Unfortunately while driving with his mother, they gets into a car accident which kills his mother, and Eun-ho is left in a coma.

When Jung-eun hears about the incident she quickly goes to Eun-ho's side in the hospital (the hospital his father owns). There, Jung-eun is introduced to Eun-ho's half-brother, Eun-sub (Jo In-Seong). Eun-sub's mother was a woman of lies and manipulation, therefore his relationship with his mother were not good.

His relationship with his father is even worse. Eun-sub's interests is in music, but is forced to work as a doctor. He can be quite immature, and only thinks of himself. He doesn't have a good relationship with Eun-ho either and strongly believes that Eun-ho despises him and he tried to compete with Eun-ho in whatever he does.

Not surprisingly, Eun-sub falls hard for the naive, pure Jung-eun. But, she is his brother's girlfriend...

Carole Geronimo Loved loved this drama, especially the tension between the two half-brothers. Jo In Seong was phenomenal, as always. He has the ability to draw you in and listen. IMO one of the best actors out there. This has a somewhat complicated plot, mainly because of the dynamics between the 2 brothers, both of whom are physicians, and the dad and stepmom. Trauma is a strong leitmotif, be it in past or present, as well as healing. There is also an excellent supporting cast.

In a nutshell, this is a story that involves love, redemption, jealousy, terrible loss, healing, and at the end, peace, acceptance and a rekindled joy in life.

A man who is broken is healed by a woman who saw happiness in his brother, only to have it snatched away.

You may feel that you have run a marathon after watching this drama. Very intense, compelling, provoking. I was rooting for both brothers.

Do not miss A+ drama.

joo insung wife this series bring me to back then.. i watched this drama for almost 30 times .. never boring

mildred i want to buy a hard copy for this.can you recommend where i can buy?

ian re watching it after 13 years . I lord jo in sung then because of memories of bali -after 13 years im in awe with ko hyun jung's acting - fron a beauty queen to an actress ,she has gone so far - Mishil and Daemul now dear my friends - She is a gem .

Aj Cried buckets of tears in this series. I really hate how it ended though. Rooting for eun ho here.

lolWut Predictable and boring. The moment Eunho went into coma and Eunsub entered the scene, I knew everything that he was gonna fall for JeongEun and they'd end up together. It was highly predictable and JeongEun was stupid tbh The damsel and she changed her mind about who she loves at the last moment. There was no build-up in her relationship with Eunsub, it was just random ending. And why does every Kdrama have to overuse the evil mother trope. It's idiotic tbh and also rather insulting of the viewer's intelligence.

WQQ Jo In-Seong always act BEST!

WQQ Jo In-Seong always act great!

crystal I love this drama but it's a bit naggy. Like the story and the cast especially go hyun jung and the two men(eun ho and eun sub). They r so cute and handsome. GHJ is pretty and cute here! It's very tiring for GHJ to keep seeing eun sub then eun ho. Eun ho then eun sub. Seriously? Can they be more responsible? Like this story!!! GHJ,hope to see you in 2014. And,@john can you not be so rude? Maybe u r just biased against the actors or whatever. Dont u insult GHJ and the other 2 men!

ian @john..seems legit ...how about you try to make you good series first before you say those kind of things to the series...you speak well as a critic but i think you dont make it to qualify as one.. yes you are accounted of freedom of speech but not to that extent .. very rude of you...! haysss.. i love all the leads here... the acting was superb ... the plot is great .. same with the osts and the setting ... its a perfect melodrama..

John To add on to my earlier comments I'd say that the story was a slam against the lead actress - Go Hyun-Jung - and why she accepted this role I have no idea (maybe because of the divorce and all the personal pressure from her husbands family this is all she could get). Seriously her role shows a very self absorbed woman who is easily manipulated by a very childish, self centered, and immature man (Jo In-Seong) until he finally wears her down with guilt trips primarily along with emotional abuse. In the end the only real adult in this film is played by Ji Jin-Hee who sacrifices everything for the wishes of his immature brother and his flaky twat former girlfriend (Go Hyun-Jung). He goes through Hell almost the whole film and Go Hyun-Jung commits to him until almost the very end when she bails and leaves him high and dry, but instead of his childish brother he sucks it up, smiles, and moves on.... If a tragic accident killed the younger brother and his flake girlfriend in the end that would have been an ending I could have lived with .. or rewrite the last 5 episodes !!!! The Writers must be total idiots... or maybe they have the same selfish and childish values as portrayed by the lead characters. Am I bitter ? Yeah... watching this devolve from what could have been one of the best dramas ever to one of the worst really blew me away... avoid at all costs !!!!

John Worst Drama I have seen to date. Very poor story with the moral being make commitments, but dont keep them. Hurt everyone and everyone as long as in the end you get what you want. The acting was good, but if I had known where the ending was headed I would have tossed this drama set in the trash where it belongs. Glad I saw some great dramas like Dong Yi, Chuno, Miss Ripley, etc. before I watched this one. Just wasted 20 plus hours.. . well I fast forwarded the last 3 so don't feel as bad as I would have otherwise. Very Poor .. D- should have been an Aplus . Just rewrite the last 4 or 5 episodes. Please !!!!!!
