Plot
"Rookies" is the story of a fervent teacher who is trying to straighten his troubled students through high school baseball, and of the students who, although dropouts, are aiming to take part in the “Koshien” championships.
Just like a lot of the young people these days, these students do not have much hope for the future and many do not even know what they want to do. However, Koichi Kawato (Ryuta Sato) is a teacher who is willing to prove that the world is full of hope and that they shouldn’t mock those who do have a dream.
The story takes place at a high school where the baseball team has just been told to suspend their activities because of an incident that occurred during a game. The students are betrayed by their teacher and are forced to take responsibility for the incident. This is when they meet Koichi Kawato, a teacher who believes in having dreams and who would do anything for his students, even if it means risking his job. Through their emotional and heart-to-heart confrontations with this teacher, the students realize that they haven’t and that they do not want to give up their dream.

Azni Nov 12 2024 5:55 am A very strong plot about chasing dreams, keeping your values and what teachers can do to help realise the dream of kill it. I enjoy the characters taken of the manga series because even outcasts have their moments individually or as a group.
Also good to see the mantra … it takes a village to build up our youths.
The story is well plotted out to have its moments and reflections on our personal Belief and Philosophy.
Should be a must watch for those who missed out on real heroes not from Marvel types.
Feb Lee Apr 21 2020 3:53 pm This drama reminds me of the anime "Slam Dunk". They are delinquents dreaming of playing in "Koshien" where the national league of baseball for high school students is taken place.
But instead of focusing on individual strengths, this drama focuses on how important for a person to have a dream. I was once have a dream and I did everything to achieve it. This drama reminds me of the struggles and sacrifices I made, to achieve that goal. I love this drama very much.
Now, after I have achieved my goal, my life has been a mess. Why? Because I feel empty. I don't feel like I'm doing my best in my everyday life and I don't have any direction. BUT now I realize that people SHOULD NEVER stop dreaming. I thought one dream is enough but now I am inspired to make more dreams and to achieve it. Doing your best to achieve your dream makes living worthwhile.
