okabe Rinatarou Jul 15 2024 11:06 am I've a question. This seemed very silly and thought of dropping this show. In episode 1 opening scene, Kum wa fights with the ha men su and is also involved in fighting back with Han. His face is clearly visible there and he also went to meet the king / whoever after winning. He again comes back to Han when the clan leaders are invited. Like what the hell? Can't they even figure out him, the crown prince?? ROFL!!..

Bidaclue Jun 15 2024 11:15 am I pretty much agree with Park Min regarding the overall omnipresent melodrama tone. What I have repetitively disturbed by was also losing time on stretched scenes in which the characters elaborate their emotions, the scenes in which certain pictures were held for too long, and a bit too sugary expressing of emotions. The sotry is somewhat too stretched. As for the flashbacks, they serve to remind the viewer what had happend in the meantime, oh, so long ago in the beginning of the series. What I did like, however, is how the Bible stories, some of which btw. had appeared before the Bible in other sources, were used as a basis for this story. Definitely admire Ju-Mong :). The combination of moderately soft, loving and rough outright aggressive appearance lifelike. Acting of this actor, with all his subtle nuances in expression simply lovely. he did not appeal to me in the beginning, in the role of a meek shew prince. This actor does not seem to be capable of transforming into such characters as well as in rough, decisive, strong, firm etc. ones.

dHey Jun 15 2024 5:52 am I've never thought Jumong was a super B historical story/film. At first, i was not interested to watch due to numerous episodes but it came up that i don't want to end this episodes. Kudos to all the cast of Jumong and staff who made this movie fantastic???. Song II Kook you are now on my Oppa's list ?.

Rowena de Saram Mar 01 2024 11:47 am Absolutely the best Korean period piece by far and I have watched a number of them. I didn’t want it to end. I just finished the 81 episode drama and I am watching it again and the second time around is even richer. Just can’t get enough of this period piece. It is full of suspense and emotions with some laughter scenes thrown in. Loved all the characters and superb acting by Song Il Gook, Han HyeJin, Kim Seung Soo, Jun Kwang Ryul to name a few. Song Il Gook who played Ju Mong was excellent, I felt every emotion he was going through— stellar performance. I will continue to rewatch this a million times over and NEVER get tired of it. Also loved Kim Byung Gi’s character, Yeon Ta -Bal, and his relationship with his daughter. Just an awesome and beautiful period piece.

Park Min Oct 01 2023 7:11 pm If you're looking for a historical drama about the foundation Goguryeo then this drama is Not it. This drama was mostly about the in palace melodrama and conflict. Furthermore, it's important to know that this drama included a handful of fantasy elements sprinkled around all over it, so don't expect it to be grounded to reality. Han Hye Jin who played the female lead as Soh Seo No was a poor cast choice. Soh Seo No needed a more rigid and stubborn looking actress to better fit the character.

A weak incapable king, a greedy prince and an underdog illegitimate prince going aimlessly in circles. Wars, fights and action were surprisingly and disappointingly scarce for a never-ending 81 episodes historical drama about the founders of Goguryeo. Which is why we had little to no planning or strategy for these wars. That one big war at the end against another nation that we waited ages for, was condensed down to just 1 singular episode of utter disappointment. In fact, the entire last episode was extremely rushed and we were given a joke of a wrap up. They had all the time in the world and they couldn't make a decent send off. The last episode was absolutely stripped off genuine emotions. It robs you the wrong way after you had gone through 81 episodes. Speaking of which, they were trying too hard to reach the 81 mark with prolonged uncut full-scenes repeated flashbacks! You would lose your mind watching it serializing.

It also captivates peoples heart due to its acting prowness of actors, directors and PAs help, showcasing cultural idealism, politics and challenges of characters througout episodes...nowadays kids doesnt appreciate this kind of drama...hope in near future, every kids can warch this

Yesoya proved to be a woman of humility, she humbled herself so as to help jumong accomplish his dreams. Fate has it all, jumong wouldn't have been able to build a new nation, if he had married so seo no from the onset. Soseono is hot headed, while in buyeo palace she would have pissed off daeso and sulan which might have led to them hurting her. Yesoya was Soo humble, even when jumong came for her she had to stay for his mother. Even when she saw him uniting with so seo no for goguryeos sake she humbled herself and went back for the unity if goguryeo. But fate gave her the opportunity to bear jumong 's son. Jumong knew he couldn't repay her his debts even for a lifetime. She suffered alone, bore humiliation for jumongs sake. Most beautiful female character goes to ye so ya, then daesoo's mom, then so seo no, Yeo mi eul

I admit what I enjoyed the most were the scenes of Jumong and So Seo-No together, the close-ups of the actress Han Hye-Jin's beautiful face and expressions were most memorable for me. Overall, great production and well worth watching.

Mike Dec 15 2022 2:18 pm I just saw epi 47, I love this drama! Excellent story, love the two leads, Han Hye-Jin such a beautiful face. I'm happy that it is a long 81 episodes, a true epic! I am looking forward to how the two leads will be at the end, especially with the two pregnancies means to me that they will not end up together, even though they together are "destined for greatness". All great acting, great production, great directing of a great story.

I like soseono the most in this drama.. she is intelegent, powerful and strong. She isnt typical women in kdrama who need protection from a man. such a rare character for female lead. When she left jumong to build a new kingdom for her children, i was like "you go girrrllll, you are such a wonderful woman being, I pity and admired you for giving all out to your husband but in the end you have to left him for another woman and son". aigooo..

I dont like how romance took part in this drama.. seeing your hero have another heart for another woman is really annoying.. i know this drama isnt about love.. but still..

Janie Dec 22 2017 11:44 pm I’ve just watched Jumong for the second time. I loved, loved, loved it! Excellent acting, great story, beautiful music, outstanding photography, some of the most amazing shots ever! . Very clever of the producers to bring out Jumong’s life-journey from insecure adolescent, a young man to be reckoned with, an adult determined to realise his dreams, a great leader, an imposing king. A path of self-exploration and growth. What I did not like was Soseono who became a totally submissive insipid little mouse when Ye Soya came on the scene. Most unrealistic for any woman to make room for The Other Woman without an argument or word in her own defence after many years of supporter, wife and queen. Also Yuri (never growing older than 2-3 years old) who grew up in the backstreets of some obscure village giving advice on military strategies with even the King and generals agreeing. Some times the producers are rather unrealistic in their story telling. However, the BEST tv series of all countries. Will watch it again and again. And in the meantime I am going to buy myself a bow and arrow!

al Dec 14 2017 8:22 pm The acting of each cast is good. The plot is quiet good although rough transition happen. Personally, i pay my attention and respect to Ye Soya. Unlike Jumong and Sosoeno whose suffering while surround by other, she suffer on her own with no one to rely on. Sacrifices and humiliation she's been through moved me. When she and Jumong reunite, my tears is just flowing down. I rarely moved by a drama. This drama captivate me.

And it took me another viewing of this series (3rd) to discover who played General Heuk shi ( Cho Woon-gyo) and lots of scrambling on internet. He also played Park Seung-seon character in God of War. I don't know why this great actor is not listed in any of these shows on most sites or on Asian Wiki at all. He's such an important character and outstanding performance in this show at least and also great to look at! I think he needs a new PR rep to promote him.

Muhyul Oct 05 2016 1:51 am The best sageuk ever! I've watched many many korean historical dramas and a few comes close but Jumong stands alone at the top. When I watched the first episode and saw the sorceress, I'm like what the hell? Seems like it's going to be a cheesy show despite the good reviews I've read. So, I stopped for quite some time and came back to it. So glad I did! Every episode kept me glued. Not a dull moment. What I loved the most about Jumong was that he was always calm and composed. It's weird but to me, that's what makes his character so good. My favorite supporting actor is Mo Palmo. He was so loyal to Jumong. When he laughed, I laughed. When he cried, I felt for him. So many feels in this show. I'm afraid I won't be able to find anything as good as this =/. Be sure to watch the sequel to Jumong, Kingdom of the Winds. Not as good as Jumong, but it's very satisfying.

MeMe Apr 11 2016 3:04 am This drama was amazing. Jumong loved both SoSeoNo and Ye Soya. SoSeoNo and Ye Soya loved Jumong as well. They both sacrificed a lot for Jumong. Even though I liked both SoSeoNo and Ye Soya, I preferred Jumong and SoSeoNo. Jumong and SoSeoNo were an amazing Power Couple. They were each other's equal. They were amazing. It sad when SoSeoNo decided to leave him but I understand why she did. Queen SoSeoNo was awesome. She helped the man she loved build a kingdom and then later on helped her son build a kingdom. She was amazing. I hope they do a drama based on SoSeoNo and a drama based on the founding of Baekje. The character development of Jumong was great. He went from pamper weak prince to a strong heroic leader who founded the Kingdom of Goguryeo with SoSeoNo and became a King. Even though I was sad SoSeoNo lefted, I was glad at same time that she did because she was so much more than being reduced to a concubine. Anybody who questioned Jumong's love for SoSeoNo should have been silenced. Yes Jumong loved Ye Soya as well. Jumong loved SoSeoNo and the ending proved that. Giving her Mo Pal Mo to take with her and how fast he was riding on that horse just see her one last time showed how much he loved her. All the Actresses and Actors did an amazing job. Kudos to everybody involved in this drama. All of you did an amazing job.

Jāe Jul 26 2015 9:36 pm One thing: If the Primeminister had chosen or invested in Jumong from the beginning... more than two third of the movie would have been unnnecessary :) The Han would have been wiped out from Ancient Joseon land - and a new nation under Jumong would have been established with Buyeo at it's center/core. - all in less than 3 years.

Just finished watching him confront his father after being defeated in battle. And I immediately searched on this site whether he'd won any awards. He was brilliant! (And I LOATHED his character, he was sooo evil...LOL) I hope to see him in other dramas and movies.
