17thekid 8.5/10 I don’t watch zombie movies/shows but I’m digging this tbh! Those who keep saying they couldn’t get past ep 3 are trolls.

M.M 9/10

I think it is very clear that this is not supposed to be a serious zombie horror. You can tell from the marketing and poster, and its confirmed with the opening of Episode 1. Its clearly a satirical comedy. It was hilarious and light hearted, despite being gory and thrilling at times. I laughed the entire way.

Both main characters were naive and a little silly, which made for some great comedic moments. It had some cliches which were portrayed in funny new ways. Jisoo portrayed the helpless but surprisingly capable female lead well. Park Joeng-Min was the resilient soldier who survived by luck. The people who are disappointed by the characters 'illogical decisions' need to remember, this is a comedy. Most comedy characters are like this, lighten up and enjoy!

I am glad directors aren't sticking too strictly to the styles of horror and sci-fi thriller that are popular now (e.g. Squid Games, Sweet Home, Alice in Borderland). Well done director to Yoon Sung-Hyun!

A.S. I watched it for Jisoo. The early episodes were good, but as it moved on to the next episodes, everything went downhill. I couldn’t believe how stupid the soldiers were portrayed. If they had made this drama in a serious genre, it would have been much better instead of turning it into a comedy.

I stopped watching at episode 3, and even then, although I felt Jisoo’s acting had improved compared to Snowdrop, she still couldn’t attract me enough to continue watching until the end.

Maxpoon I thought it was cool zombie to watch from a little clip, but the whole drama series was a terrible disappointment. It is the typical stereotype drama, such as fat or weakling are dumb, act stupid, try to be hero. Even in accident, car crash, what do you do, call ambulance? no she moves the body off the car, he sits in the car, panic etc as he is the pretty and middle class body so they have to protrait as fake, chicken etc. Celebrity star spotted but act as stupid and do not how to act when camera is there, It is so awful, I switched off after ep3

Script I thought the acting from everyone was just fine and for the most part, I enjoyed this drama for what it was. What I did Not like was the soundtrack... they constantly played goofy or lighthearted music cues during or after heavy moments (like scary or sad scenes). It was distracting and took you out of the moment.

Chamonks I find it hilarious how Arron Park has to stay drunk in order to not turn into a zombie. And it's pretty clear that Park Eun Chae was the ghost who have been guiding Young Joo the whole time. Anyway long story short I enjoyed this series.

Palooza Hoping for season 2 sometimes in the future!!!

Alex's car Watching this, honestly doesn't expect anything because of the review. It's marked as a romcom zombie so means it's easy going drama that we shouldn't be stressing so much. But indeed it does stressing me, not in a bad way. Because I got the thrill and adrenaline rush watching this. Both scene, Jae Yoon and Young Joo, are good. I don't think Jisoo acting is that bad.. since she still a beginner, maybe not too good but not bad also. I rate the drama 9/10 for me.

Taylor 10/10. I don't understand the negative reviews. Jisoo's acting is literally just fine. Although the ending is such a cliffhanger, I'm sure there's a Season 2!

Saylean I laughed so hard and had a great time watching this, and that's enough for me to say I loved it. 10/10

Eboni ??? It was actually pretty good. Glad I ignored the reviews. The first two or three episodes are meh. But after that it’s pretty good! 9/10 fro me.

Best 3 I walked into newtopia expecting a hilarious comedy, but what I got was a cringeworthy mess. The jokes were stale, the humor was forced, and the attempts at wit fell flat.

But it wasn't just the comedy that was lacking - the plot was riddled with holes. Characters made illogical decisions, plot twists came out of nowhere, and the whole thing felt like a jumbled mess.

The cast, which had promised so much, struggled to elevate the weak material. Even the usually reliable jeong min and jisoo name couldn't save this sinking ship.

Overall, this series was a disappointing and frustrating watch. Unless you enjoy laughing at, rather than with, a movie, I'd recommend giving this one a hard pass.

Rate 5/10

King Pup 1722 Newtopia mixes zombie thrills with romance, but Kang Young-joo’s (Kim Ji-soo) choices often leave viewers scratching their heads. While her ex-boyfriend Jae-yoon (Park Jeong-min) battles undead hordes with his military squad, Young-joo charges into danger with little more than a chainsaw and wishful thinking. Her solo mission to reunite with him feels less like bravery and more like a series of poorly planned risks.

Young-joo’s Recklessness: • No Plan, Just Vibes: Armed with minimal survival skills, she wanders zombie zones, relying on luck over strategy. In Episode 7, she nearly gets killed hallucinating Jae-yoon’s voice, then stumbles into a survivor hideout—only to leave again. • Liability Alert: Her impulsive actions endanger others. While soldiers coordinate defenses, Young-joo’s solo acts—like wielding a chainsaw in tight spaces—attract zombies, forcing rescuers to clean up her messes. • Love Over Logic: Breaking up pre-apocalypse made sense, but her U-turn into “ride-or-die” mode feels forced. Even Jae-yoon’s squad questions why she’d trek across Seoul when he’s the trained soldier.

The Soldiers’ Storyline Shines: Park Jeong-min’s Jae-yoon and his squad anchor the drama. Their climb up a Gangnam high-rise—balancing zombie threats, military hierarchy, and dark humor—adds grit missing from Young-joo’s plot. Scenes like Sergeant Kim’s tragic zombie turn or Private Hwang’s moral dilemmas showcase tight teamwork and survival instincts.

Final Thoughts: While Jae-yoon’s military struggles deliver tension and dark comedy, Young-joo’s arc drags the story into frustrating territory. Newtopia works best when focusing on the soldiers’ camaraderie, but Young-joo’s plotline feels like a missed opportunity—a reminder that love might conquer all, but it won’t stop a zombie bite.

Rating: Maybe I’m being harsh but I give it a 7/10. It’s not her fault as the storyline calls for her to be reckless and yet crying out of helpless fright throughout the series. Still I found it a bit irritating though.

rey over the top.. but ok and still entertain

Kanana Is there really just 8 episodes for this series? It's end already. Will there be another season?

Yooki Get past ep3, after that the series is really good

dalgom Thia drama is really really good. The actors played their roles perfectly, especially the main actor. I hope it will end perfectly, with a happy ending, haha.

Junaid This movie is really interesting, scary and funny and the same time. Kudos to everyone!

Kayouuungggie This drama gets better and better. Like it

unknown sigma person I like this kdrama, its very funny and scary

match I like this drama… its very funny

Ivar Watched episode 1-6

The only "comedy" for me here would be at EP6 the chef part. Didn't see much of a problem with FL acting, just don't like the FL voice. Find it boring. Compared to other zombie series, like AOUAD this is definitely a big downgrade.

Not recommended !

rosie I dont know about yall but i actually enjoy this i'm not a fan of zombie drama's but i'm trying to get into some more like all of us are dead i know its not exactly the same but i like the comedy, romance its cute and the ending of episode 5 was pretty sad he was a nice guy

Jjoo There tried to do many thing in this drama, but failed in all of them. I personally came for this drama to watch the zombie stuff. I have no interest in the couple's relationship and their past. It's too distracting and not impactful at all. The comedy isn't funny either. They should've just focused on the zombies plot with the couple's relationship being a background story. I mean just show them as a couple but don't show too much details about them.

Gemmy Boring and childish! I know it’s comedy, but the soldiers reaction to the zombie transformation and bite was stupid af. The only smart person is Alex. I couldn’t go pass ep. 3

Tteokbokkisan I'm frustrated too that they don't know about how zombies work, but I guess you have to assume this is all a new thing for them, and they haven't watched Train to Busan or Walking Dead. It's a light comedy with some dark humor and easy to watch. I just breezed through all 4 episodes while multitasking with no problem. My favorite character is the hotel employee Soo-Jeong, she gets the most interesting role in the show, and acts it really well.

Diana They cover the love story in Ep4 and is so cute

Dane12 I like the concept, stories and all but I couldn’t stand the fact that soldiers could not use their brains, like wth?how many have they witnessed that once bitten, thats the end of it. So there’s no point of trying to save and do the basic cpr. What annoys me more is the head of the their troops like rolling my eyes, im about to give up watching it.

Michelle Its funny... I dont care what anyone says.. If they're not getting why it is funny, they have no chill. Its suposed to be this way....

Vee Episode 3? They are trying hard to become funny but thank you for the effort. I get frustrated with the cluelessness of the soldiers and the characters. I hope there will be improvements in the upcoming episodes.

Cristalena Im still hopeful. Like others, I felt like the 1st episode dragged and was kinda boring. The 2nd episode started to pick up. Im hoping the 3rd will even more so. It's a campy gory zombie story, so expect it to be chessy and over the top.

Renji 1st episode was sooo boring, 2nd ep: just a lot of shouting and screaming, I think there's only one funny scene which I already forgot.

This is the type of drama you watch while waiting for the top drama's next episode. I'm not hating the series, it just look boring and dull, and like the other guy said: there's no likeable characters :(

Quinn I just came in here lol why is everyone hating? The series barely out and yall judging based on the first two episodes? Chill guys the show is actually fine, it was funny and entertaining. Just give it a try and be patient through out the whole story.

JD Sadly, this zombie drama fell short of my expectations.

I fast-forwarded through the entirety of episode 1, which I found tedious. The first episode focused on soldiers conducting drills, which was boring and dull. Unfortunately, none of the characters were likable, so I will pass on this drama.

Dave Really really like this Zombies Drama. Very Good, it's all there, comedy, drama, action, even the special effects are also good for a drama series.

Un modeste admirateur Normally, I only comment on dramas I have something positive to say, but I will still comment on « Newtopia », because it really made me mad. Watch 50 min. an office girl exchanging the most boring phone calls with her military boyfriend, as she wonders if she will cheat on him or not with any of her rich colleagues, and you would be mad too. The screenwriters of « Newtopia » cannot tell the difference between a rotary cannon and an assault rifle, let alone pretend to know military life and romcom humour. Please, screenwriters, stick to dead zombies. Life and humour are too serious of a matter to be left to unprofessionals.

stumpd Great drama! Watched it on amazon, thank you amazon. watched the first English dubbed.. was ok.. but then figured out i could watch it in Korean with subtitles! Even better.. so i have watched it 2x now. eps 1 and 2. it is going to be hellish waiting for the next 6 episodes. Loved every second of it. Well Done to the cast and crew!

Manhwa Guardian They should remove comedic background soundtracks in serious scenes, kinda annoying. But I love the gore.

Lulu I'm usually not into zombie drama/film but I watch this drama because I love Jisoo. So far I like it because it's funny and I don't have to focus on the yucky zombies! as for Jisoo's acting, I think the character suits her well. I feel like watching her real self !

Maggie I watched the first two episodes, and it’s oddly entertaining. It feels different from the usual K-drama, which makes it stand out. I’m sure opinions will be divided, but as someone obsessed with zombie movies and series, I’m all in for this one! It’s hilarious, and that cliffhanger at the end of episode two? Seriously, why end it like that and make us wait a whole week? The casting is fantastic—everyone did a great job! Jisoo, in particular, surprised me. Her acting has improved a lot, and I can see her landing more roles because she definitely didn’t disappoint.

kismaiyes I enjoyed the first two episodes very much. Those that say its bad because its a zombie story but not serious should widen your horizon. Watch more things, comedy horror exists.

reeeeeeethydro @no.one ever heard of dark comedies? shaun of the dead? zombieland? some not so serious zombie movies.... I understand if you're not into the story or some characters, but complaining about a zombie story not being as serious is laughable. These kinds of genres actually exist

Shaima I really liked the first 2 episodes, it was funny.. And I love jisoo's acting!

no.one this is trash. I love Jisoo for her role in Snowdrop, it was flawless and 10/10. This influenza is not it. the male lead is annoying with Ra In-ho too. what is this? how could be a zombie apocalypse funny with an unserious romcom on top of that? I don't know how Jisoo agreed to do this, but it's not good. I don't think Jisoo is portraying her amazing acting skills in Influenza as she was in Snowdrop.

Sten This series are Not to ones who are into direct fast action Kdrama ...but for the ones who prefer good slow paced storyline and something different than recent Kdramas out there. I like a lot, good acting and script.

jbua Just finished watching... it was bad.... really bad....

Drac Miraculous I remember this:

The OG name of Newtopia is "Influenza".

So, about that unknown virus that turned the infected into zombies, it's most likely to be something related to the influenza virus - maybe it mutated in a very strange way or the vaccine created to cure it went wrong or maybe it's how fast it could spread. Anybody who is good at science knows how infectious the influenza virus is.

Another thing is about the zombies. Do you think they'll be the usual type in every zombie Kdrama? Or will they be tougher and more durable, as well as still maintaining their intelligence?

And since this is a zomromcom, what should we expect?

Yusra Omg! A drama written by the writers of parasite and a shop for killers?!?!?!?!?! This is for sure a well written drama! Can’t wait!
