This is more a personal opinion, just something I want to share. When I started watching it, I really shipped Natsu with Tenyo, I really wanted them to be together so bad, when Natsu leaves to Tokyo, I thought it might be like in Hanbun Aoi and they would end up together eventually. Also, at the beginning I disliked Ikkyuu, but as the drama kept going, and since Tenyo married someone else I started liking the idea of Natsu with Ikkyuu, after their marriage I was really hoping they would stay like this till the end. Of course I didn't want Tenyo to die but, I have to admit I felt at ease, since I had arrived at a point where I loved Natsu and Ikkyuu so much together that even my first ship was bothering me. So I felt like... okay now I can cherish them 100%.
Akari Sep 23 2020 2:09 pm This is the most warm story I've seen on an Asadora. Honestly I loved it so much, so pure and beautiful. All the characters have a great development, even the moments when someone died were sweet. Honestly it is a 10 from me.
Tata Aug 24 2020 11:27 am Seriously this drama often brought me into tears. So good, although some episodes seemed boring. Actually I ship Natsu and Tenyo all along :( They looked so good together, since Tenyo was the first person who made Nacchan to be animator in the end. Other than Tenyo and Natsu, Ojii-chan is also my favorite character! So strict in the first episode, but he became the best grandfather figure for Nacchan. The scenes between Ojii-chan and Nacchan often brought me into tears.

Mie Feb 18 2020 2:21 am I'm only on ep. 1 and I love it already, its refreshing and somehow gives me a nostalgia feeling making me feel envious. It reminds me of some Studio ghibli movies and the feelings when I play harvest moon....whoaa I want a life on a ranch like that.
Kumo005 Oct 11 2019 11:27 pm Taishi looks incredibly handsome with his hairstyle here plus he really slayed the 50s-60s mens outfit. Same with Suzu! How beautiful she is on those vintage dresses. I already miss this asadora. The casts complimented each other. One of the best.
Zzvhan Oct 02 2019 2:44 am Finally Taishi and Suzu in a drama, always wanted them to pair up in a series and I'm happy that they did. Hoping to see them in another one, contemporary/modern drama...since in this one, they acted as married matured couple haha. Their chemistry is oozing.
Anyway, I love this series! Something I can always rewatch like AmaChan. Suzu's really a good actress! The casts were all great! I cried, I laugh, so many emotions.

You know what I mean? It would be a change if their next pairing in a series or movie together will be more mature enough. There are both good artists. Kudos!
james Aug 21 2019 12:04 pm this story is loosely based on REIKO OKUYAMA. she was one of the pioneering women in animation in Japan. she died in 2007 but her husband was consulted on this drama.
I enjoyed this show! It tried to show you context of Natsu, going from a war orphan to Hokkaido and then to Tokyo.
while the show never gets into the nitty gritty that is Reiko Okuyama (she was very charismatic and very much a staunch defender of a woman working and had to face a lot of challenges from the Japanese patriarchal society *Toei animation was and still is a very sexist place for female animators*)
since I knew her husband was advising on the script, I know whatever was between Tenyo and Natsu wouldn't come to fruition. Haha I was so bummed about them because they would have been so good together.
it's so refreshing to see a male in a drama acknowledge his feelings but put the happiness of his love first. Natsu seemed to acknowledge that if she had stayed, their love story would have unfold. I like that Tenyo always pushed her to her dreams. She was so conflicted, feeling that she owed the Shibatas and didn't have a right to go after what she wants because it felt selfish. Bravo to the writers for depicting that struggle well.
I'll soothe myself with the fact that Suzu and Ryo will be starring in another project together. They have such great chemistry!
give this drama a try! it was heartwarming and kept me hooked.

Vanil May 26 2019 9:20 am The story is good. Funny moment, heartwarming, family story, romance, there are many things in this dorama. Now watching in week 6 and I hope Natsu can do what she wants. I think Suzu x Ryo ship will sail, maybe not so fast but in the near future. Coz Tenyo already told his feelings for Suzu when he was talking with Teruo.

koguma Aug 30 2018 6:11 am I can't wait for this asadora, so many fans already predicted Suzu will be the lead for the 100th asadora and YAS! Without audition just like Mao, Maki, Anne, Yuriko, Ando and Kasumi.
I seriously love asadora and I will watch even without subs just lile Hanbun Aoi, Warotenka, Toto Nee Chan and Umechan Sensei.
The story of this asadora seems interesting and I love the cast. Although asadora isn't about love story, but I always excited with heroine love story and I think she will be pairing up with Yamada Yuki her best friend or Yoshizawa Ryo, a guy who will change her life ?
