Jung-Yeob (Lee Dong-Hwi) tries to find a job as a lawyer for a law firm in Seoul. It's not so easy for him, with Jung-Yeob being from a smaller city. In the meantime, he begins work at a child welfare center in his hometown. He goes with a co-worker from the child welfare center to the police station and meets 10-year-old Da-Bin (Choi Myung-Bin). The young girl reported to the police that her stepmother Ji-Sook (Yoo-Sun) choked her around her neck, but there isn't anything Jung-Yeon is able to do. Da-Bin is returned to her family. Da-Bin and her 7-year-old brother Min-Joon (Lee Joo-Won) begin visiting Jung-Yeob at the child welfare center daily. He makes an effort to spend time with them to keep his job. Jung-Yeob is aware that the children are abused by their stepmother, but he is powerless to do anything about it.
Jung-Yeob then learns that he has been hired by a law firm in Seoul. Without saying goodbye to Da-Bin and Ji-Sook, he heads off to Seoul. One day, he receives a phone call that Da-Bin has killed her younger brother Min-Joon.

Sobia Mar 05 2026 1:53 pm The cruel stepmother just punished for 15 years?why????? This is not just a movie this is real life story. That lady should deserve jail for whole life. Poor babies soul. Literally crying again and again after seeing that movie.
Ivan Feb 09 2026 10:19 am I hope every kid will be safe specially in their homes!
I wish that all bad and evil parents die painfully!
And to all the bystanders, may you not experience that kind in your life! But i hinestly hope that they do.
This world will only better without all those evils!
Michele Kim Nov 30 2021 10:28 pm Omg, get ready to ball your eyes out! So good and the acting amazing! Loved that it was based on a true story. I think the statistics at the end reveal that more real cases are actually reported in S. Korea, not that it's increasing. Had to pause the movie a couple times to blow my nose even! Mr Yoon was a hardcore hero and leader, and without him this movie could have been made because he saved that little girl. I know some had said it was slow in the beginning but it was to build the background info of the characters and their lives. I'm glad this movie was created to expose the realities that exist and I think because of this increasing awareness there is more accountability. I hope that these angels in heaven (who were abused to death) see that producers like Do Young-Hoon and directors like Jang Gyu-Sung understood its importance to make a difference. As tragic as human kind is let's not repeat the cycle and recognize the significance of childhood and parenting.
FAYESHA Nov 25 2021 9:31 pm Teaching kids are so complicated and hard to predict by your parent action for their future, too many variable.
I will just going to give example from my family we are three brother, and we have different kindness toward our parent now based on our experience with how their teach and their beating. I will rate 0 for no beating and 10 to beating exposed to die.
7 for first child, he is kind to their parent, respect them and never answer back to anything. but he rarely talk to them and antisocial.
4 for second child he is kind, respectful. he is social adept,
1 for third child he is kind, not quite respectful and talk back a lot.
this chart are not representing every child, their inept and intelligent are different each child.
from this chart we can see, no beating never best answer for child. so the best action are always mildly do it. while giving the best teaching to them
p.s my aunt harshly to them to his first child, and now her child have difficulty in his brain. so please never beat them too much, it's always parent loss.
Jil Nov 08 2021 9:27 am Evil! I hope this kind of parents die in the most painful way and may thier soul burn forever in hell!
Those bastards who ignore too! May you freaking meet the same situition! F*ck you assh*les!
Sh*t im so angry! Hmmm!
Alena Kai Sep 22 2021 10:12 pm I watched this movie with tears in my eyes.
Reese Sep 13 2021 2:52 am Most children are very annoying in real life. They may be presented as cute or funny in films and social media but in reality most of them are very annoying and stressful. I must have met just 1 child that I can tolerate and he was mature and well-behaved for his age, the rest are just ugh! so annoying! But though I dislike them that doesn't mean I like seeing them hurt. People need to understand that children, though annoying, are humans too. Before they get into a relationship and decide to form a family, they must be prepared to deal with very annoying, stressful, expensive and ungrateful children every day. If not, then don't have them or don't get into a relationship where you will be expected to become a parent. Since I know I cannot stand them, I found a boyfriend who doesn't like them either. We've agreed that when we get married, we'll be childless and just spend our savings travelling the world together instead of paying for diapers or tuition. Most couples want to continue the bloodline or family name or give in to societal pressure or want the traditional idea of a family, some couples like us just want to enjoy our short time in this world stress-free, just us together. Bottomline is, if you know you are very easily annoyed, dont be a parent because you might just end up abusing them. Just stay away from getting into a relationship with single parents/widowers/widows/divorcees or dont have any. Understand that once you choose to become a parent you HAVE TO BE a good parent.
Cristhine Apr 25 2021 9:47 am I cried a lot while watching this on youtube.. one of the best movie for me.. ❤
Natsu22 Mar 29 2021 6:29 pm This movie really broke my Heart
What a beautiful movie ❤️
leihph Nov 09 2020 7:36 am does this movie never got an award?? or any of the actors??? the director???
Nei Aug 31 2020 8:23 am Child abuse often occurs because of unfair laws. If the law strictly punished these tormentors, then this would decrease.
in my country, children are not even recognized as witnesses in court. So even if he witnessed the persecution or whatever, their testimony cannot be used as evidence in court.
Kiya Jun 08 2020 5:57 am The amount of tears I shed in this drama could be compared with Innocent Witness. Everyone who doesn't like children should watch this movie. The opening --bystander effect question, is a perfect example of human and while Jung Yeob said it is human desire to protect themselves which make them not guilty, he himself felt guilty about what happened when he was a bystander.
The movie itself remind me that everyone should be ready if they want to be in a marriage. Marriage absolutely not just about getting to share money with your husband or commitment between 2 person.
nana Jun 02 2020 2:58 pm i cried heavily watching this movie. really recommended
stanateezcowards Jan 07 2020 12:47 pm I watched this movie on an AirFrance flight, and cried heavily during the last 30min or so, I continued to feel the judging stare of the girl beside me because of my never ending tears :”) Now I’m recommending it to all my family members and friends (all of them like drama so I’m positive they will like it). It is beautiful and all of the actors did a great job expressing emotions, I was seriously deeply moved.
