Yang-Soon (Choi Yoon-Young) aspired to write a novel, but her father's death led to her giving up her dream and, instead, work as a reporter for a magazine.
By chance, she brings home a stray cat. She takes care of the cat even though she has allergies to cats. One day, a man, Chi-Woong (Hyun Woo), appears and insists the cat has an owner who is looking for the cat. Chi-Woong then takes the cat from Yang-Soon.
Chi-Woong went to law school mainly to satisfy his father. He realized in law school that he didn't want to become a lawyer and dropped out without telling his family. He now struggles to become a photographer and supports himself by woking for a private detective office. A clients requests that they find his cat. He faces Yang-Soon once he locates the cat.
Through their meeting, Yang-Soon and Chi-Woong discover a family's hidden truth.

Park Min May 14 2023 1:24 pm Every single character was as unlikable as they could be. About 90% of the characters were scummy. All relationships were bad, both romantic and non-romantic ones, especially the ones including the fathers. It's not about cats, it's about bad daddies! The entire production screams low quality. The cast performance was disappointing, especially both male leads. Despite their lack of chemistry, they couldn't pull up more than 2 reactions per episode. There weren't enough side plots or overlapping plots other than the main one, which made the main one feel extremely draggy for 119 episodes. The only side plot that had some kind of continuity was Eun Sook and that's it! The main story sucked, nothing was interesting or fun about it. I'm having a hard time to find anything to like here, maybe Choi Yoon Young because I liked her in "Seo Yeong, My Daughter (2012)"?
lrt Jul 16 2019 5:35 am One of the best stories hands down. Great cast and acting...especially the loan shark Mom and Dad. I almost gave it up because it started slow. I hung in there because of the high ratings and I am so glad I did.
zombie Mar 29 2018 10:40 pm i just started epi 6 and im already hooked up and craving for the next epi this is what dramas are all about getting addicted and unable to stop watching the ratings are excellent started with above 20% and never got less than that throughout which is very rare yes cuz the last 5 dramas that ive started none of them i past the 5th epi i just pulled the plug on them so angrily and got very depressed i came here cuz of samsaengi which i love it so much the only other drama from dear cat writer and i wasnt mistaken this drama is gonna be as good as the other the lead female looked so familiar but i couldnt tell until i looked for her other dramas and there it was my daughter seo young i completely fell for her at that time
Rome Feb 23 2015 4:43 pm I am completely in love with this drama. I just started watching it yesterday and I'm already hooked. Its really great and I would recommend it as well. Also I really like Choi Yoon-Young which makes the show ever better for me

This actress is a cut above the average performer and always delivers a high quality performance. The drama was a great ride and a credit to KBS and it's long period of sustained excellence...
Victoria Francis Nov 16 2014 1:08 am This is one of the worst Korean shows I have seen in years. The writing is unbelievable and trite. Most of the events could and would not happen. It would take too long and too much space to give specific reasons. I don't understand its popularity.

kurage Nov 13 2014 4:42 am I watched until ep69 and I can say that I super hate Yangsun's mom. She acts like she's super rich although she's damn poor already. She's very self centered and selfish spoiled housewife. I hate that she looked down on Chiwung as if her daughter is the best woman in the world. If I become Yangsun, I'll get out from the house and see if the mom can take care of herself without any income. Thank god I don't have a narrow minded mother like her.
