Na Young-Won (Jung So-Min) is the editor of Monthly House magazine. She has worked for 10 years, but she still does not own her own home. She currently lives in a monthly rental house. Nevertheless, Na Young-Won takes care of her rental place like it belongs to her. Her home reflects her personality and emotions. Things change when the new owner of her house, Yoo Ja-Sung (Kim Ji-Suk), appears in front of her. She then becomes interested in buying her own home.
Yoo Ja-Sung is the CEO of Monthly House magazine. To him, the house is just a means to increase his assets and a place to sleep. He grew up poor and he thought the only way to become rich was through real estate. While working at construction sites as a laborer, he began to study real estate investments by himself at night. He is now wealthy, because of his real estate investments. He is also famous as an investment expert. He meets Na Young-Won.

Ez Sep 15 2024 1:41 am This drama is really good, it can make me laugh out loud with all their behavior here. But if you all want to watch it, just watch until episode 14 or 15. The last episode was really annoying, a contrived plot twist. I sometimes like dramas with sad endings, but this time I was really fed up with the ending of this drama. The reasons for breaking up are too contrived. Even though the guy is in love with the girl. Or will they be together at the end, so it's an open ending? What a really annoying ending. Can there be a season 2?

I’m sorry, what? That’s actually toxic and insane. I’ve seen a lot of Korean dramas this year but hadn’t seen one on that level of narcissism disguised as romance. I don’t know if I want to even finish these last two episodes after those lines. ?
Suzanne Apr 19 2024 7:38 am We loved this drama, even my husband laughed so hard. All of the actors & the director were excellent. I could even overlook the usual Kdrama cliche of numerous breakups & reuniting. Then came the last episode. Yes, every relationship doesn’t have a happily ever after ending & I’d be fine with that. However, when the reason is so weak as if the writer needed to hurry & slip in yet another breakup, maybe believing that throwing in a twist at the end is creative, I t’s not. I was ready to recommend this drama to my friends, but I’m not sure I can now. Fifteen totally enjoyable episodes, then a rushed & poorly thought out ending. Young-won let go of Ja-sung’s hand. So much for integrity.

Chae Jung-an is awesome in that one and in this one I just don’t get her. Plus why does the design crew have her hair look greasy. Anyway, I am not going to watch this to end up with a dodo sol sol ending of a person leaving for years. I love the whole team, (which is see as a superficial comedy I am comparing to Friends), but I can’t waste my time here. I’d rather rewatch Kim Won Hae in Chocolate again or Lee Jung Eun in Missing again. Sorry!
Queenie Jan 06 2024 6:48 pm Loved this drama. I have seen both male and female lead before and liked their acting. Alittle disappointed in the ending. Not sure why she disappeared for 3 years, when it was clear the male lead loved her and visa versa. If it was because she responsible for what her father did than I don’t get it. I know is only the drama but that seemed alittle excessive. I really enjoyed the two male and female leads as well. All the other characters also lended there roles to a successful entertaining drama!

viesky_ Jul 03 2022 6:27 pm Watch this bcz of jung somin and ofc kim jisung who always makes me laugh in his drama. This drama maybe doesn't fit with everyone and me in some aspects. But i'll let it go, i know we have different cultures and i think that's the reason why I couldn't relate. The repetitive story / scene and the annoying part/ending, if we read the writer's project, she always has another season for her drama. I hope it also has the next season. The funny thing of me is the fake plant. It looks obviously fake for me but why they water it and give filter-like in the plantpot.

I just watch until ep 12 or 13 when Jasung decided to break up with Youngwon. And I skip a lot and only read recap because it is really annoying for me. Then, they decided to get back together at the end of ep14 and I started to watch again. Then I read a bit of review from ep last recap and they are not together at the end and decided to break up because this time Youngwon is the one who want to break up. Now I am really going to stop watch this.
I thought that watching a romantic comedy will give fluttering heart and happy but this is just very annoying. It is very hard to find a good romcom these days and I really love Kim Jisuk and Jung Somin abd very have a high expectation for this drama. But I just have to drop this drama. It is very annoying. Glad that I never watch this writer nim drama before.

ata Nov 01 2021 1:34 am this is really a good drama! the beginning of the drama looks so fresh and funny, i even got inspired to save money to buy a house! but i think the ending of the drama is not really a good one. the resolution of the problem didnt end well. thats why its so sad. even the actors in this drama are all really really good!

The FL is really annoying to the point why she can't reject her friend and enjoy her date with her boyfriend instead. Geez. Her friend too, being too much pushy. I don't really like the supporting cast always interrupting . Makes me frustated. Geez, it's look like I should have drop this drama.

Septian Sep 17 2021 12:53 am One of the best and funniest drama i've ever watched. Love the characters and storylines. But in the last episodes, things got me frustated. Seriously? Breakups (not only once but twice) and cliffhanger ending are like the two things i hate the most. Really hope there's season 2 just to make everything clears up.
But really, what a waste of ending.
Hae Ji-Ah Sep 15 2021 4:38 am This kdrama depicts young people's problem in accessing decent living place. A theme which is very common among young generation, especially those living in Asian countries. At the early episodes, I feel like my voice was spoken through this kdrama, and therefore I was enthusiastic to continue watching. But as the romance story between Young-Won and Ja-Sung grew, I lost my interest since their love live seems to be forced. Besides, the focus of the story is then swift to their romance which is less interesting. I became more interested in love story between Sang-Soon and Ui-Joo because theirs is more sincere and natural. I do love Ahn Chang-Hwan's acting...! He stole my attention until the end.
Apart from that, there are too many flashback scenes and coincidences. I know that "coincidence" is a must-have element in a kdrama, but this is just too much. The numerous flashback scenes feel to push the logic flow of the story. Not an elegant way to make people follow the story, if you understand what I mean... But still, this kdrama is a better option for me rather than others which filled with fantasies or thrilling, horror story.

Rut119 Sep 09 2021 4:59 am Don't judge this show from rating. This series might not the best one absolutely but not the boring one . I decided to watch this series cause "Knowing brother " show . These actors and production team are really cool, the script was a little bit stumble at the beginning but it didn't take much time to adjust and feel the good chemistry between high level actors when they played joke in the office and how silly the boss and lead actress they were ( not cliche at all ). Some joke might gone too far but mostly it's fantastic. This storyline is simple but it gives you joy and a little bit warm heart feeling while real estate knowledge is significant, i love how they used infographic and CG explain real estate thing with friendly description . briefly this series show high level acting skill of playing silly office joke and real estate thing, love line is substory.

The least the writer could have done was show them running to each other and kiss. I hated that ending but loved the rest of it.

Ep 16 just adds unnecessary drama and for what? Young Won's characters development went from 0 to 1 to -100. The first break up was great as it teaches you to value your worth, but the second break up is just pointless. And I can't believe Young Won wasn't even present on Ui Joo's wedding! After everything she has done for her!

To be honest the main character story is quite interesting, but stories of the support roles is the one that got me more really entertained. Really recommend this.. I wonder any other K/J drama like this.. it fits my needs just to entertained my self ( get laugh get cried but no much of thinking and frustration feels)….

I truly enjoyed this show, I laughed so much...
But, in my opinion, the last ep screw up. That coincidence about her father and Ja-Sung was so unnecessary. And in the end they look like friends. Not lovers :/
Despite that, I truly recommend.

Tbh this drama is really funny. Though the love story is bit common (for me), but every episode really provide me with a good laughter!! Idk why but Jang Chan character really me hooked up on him! His character is such a scene stealer!
And plus point, this drama had loooot of cameo!! I was so surprised to see them when they appeared on the screen!

Cory9 Aug 11 2021 6:18 am Really loved this drama. It hit all the right notes for me. Recently discovered Kim Ji Seok, really loving all his drama. Monthly magazine home made laugh, smile, cry. Think deeper about life situations. Ep 1-15 were the best for me. Ep 16, felt the writer dropped the ball, almost like he or she forgot who the main leads were. I am happy the second leads got their happy ever after. That said I hope Kim Ji Seok and Jung So Min have another drama together. Their chemistry on screen and behind the scenes is great

NicoleCG Aug 07 2021 10:08 pm I loved this drama. I see how some don’t like the ending but Young-Won is the type of person who needed to level up to become her independent true self. Her struggle with this was pretty much the basis of the entire drama. The 2nd couple made me absolutely happy. So many laughs and tears in this one.
chinggerald Aug 07 2021 9:45 pm The ending of a certain drama must not be blamed on the artists as they are just doing what the director and the writer told them to do. Generally, this drama ended on a happy note. Though it could have been more poetic if their lovestory was shown more in details. It's not the fault of the female lead that the ending did not meet your expectations. Jung So Min as the female lead actually did her role so well as she dealt with complex issues and mixed emotions in the whole story. Her role is the most difficult and she deserves an award as her performance was so good. Even watching through her facial expressions and talking eyes, you can really feel what she wants to convey. The male lead role was just so easy that an ordinary person can also did it best.
I still highly recommend this drama as the valuable lessons that must be conveyed to the viewers are not in the ending but within the whole story. The best watch in 2021

The writer seems to be in a rush not thinking too much of the story and spoiling the enjoyment in the end. He really messed up the effort of all the actors here. Just the same, I still wish to see Jung So-Min and Kim Ji-Suk together again in other Kdrama soon!

Every week I always look forward to this drama. Kim Ji Seok has successfully played the character as Yoo Ja Seong and is very compatible with Jung So Min. They style is a little similar prison playbook where the drama explores different stories of the characters revolving around the theme of houses/home as reflected in the title. I loveee the narration at the end of each episode, there’s so much meaning and its well scripted. The comedy is great. too, had a great time watching this drama!! The actors did an amazing job!!
Ja sung, sang soon and chief editor were very funny characters!! Enjoyed the romance between ja sung & young won, but the ending was ??!!?? Overall, worth watching, not slow, not draggy.

Just 1 thing tho, sometimes they dress na young-won so bad, i just don’t like the style (personal opinion) while yeo ui-joo always dress nicely. Anyway, I love this drama!

Deewee Aug 02 2021 10:06 pm Probably my favorite airing drama atm (shame it's ending soon) - heartwarming story, great cast chemistry. unfortunately it seems that romcom (or anything romance-y and comedy) is out of vogue in SK atm combined with no on the rise marquee actor/ idol to draw in their fandom equals low ratings for an otherwise very good drama, portraying realistic daily living for most members of society (I guess ppl prefer escapist drama with super rich/ celebrity or vengeance/payback settings - Racket Boys probably the only drama to buck that trend recently)

All the while the main lead is just a Bastard - oh but hiding his better self yadda yadda yadda.
Somebody tell me why I should keep watching cause I like the second lead better. Not the actor, the character. I don't CARE that the lead is 'a tortured soul' who really does nice things 'in secret'. I Hate this trope!

But why do Koreans did not know that there is a drama like Monthly Magazine Home which showed realistic storyline, with complex emotions which will lead one to just laugh and enjoy and why are there only few people who are watching this drama in their country that caused low rating of this drama?. Koreans are watching fictions, fantasy and unrealistic drama maybe because they did not know that there is a drama like this because there were no promotions made of this drama Monthly Magazine Home. Sorry coz I really can't understand the low rating of this drama despite being so nice and good.

So I watched just because of my idol but episode 1 was doing well. I never thought it was that good, i didn't realize that I learned precious lessons from this drama. Its so funny and at the same time I also cried because the struggles are real. Its a real life's situation if you don't know how to save, or if you will not prepare for the rainy days, you will really suffer like nothing to buy a house or anything you want. It gives money saving tips and some information about real estate. This drama is very informative and educational. Even if the rating is low, I still love to watch this drama. I think Koreans are fond of watching fictions, fantasy, romance, etc but a drama like Monthly Magazine Home its not their taste? Is it only intelligent people who want to watch a drama like this???

Aside from being so entertaining, its very informative because each character displayed comical scenes but I also cried because the struggles are so real and I also learned valuable life's lessons like money saving tips, real estate, etc. When the pressure is on, whatever its inside of you will come out just to survive. That's why JungSoMin's character seems always fighting to survive and its the reality of life when you don't save for your future. I highly recommend this drama to the young generation for them to realize the importance of money savings at an early stage of life and also to the oldies in preparation for their retirement period. JungSoMin's versatility here is amazing as she is portraying different kinds of emotions. Best acting should not be based on crying scenes only but also on other mixed emotions that are being expressed by the character. If I am the jury, I will give this drama a rating of 10/10 and the casting is also 10/10...

She always pick a rather off beat drama. The main actor, they've always cast him as the 2nd lead but he is quite underrated. Although he is potrayed as cold and stingy, instead of making viewers hate him, we are drawn to him, feel sorry for him. Can't help thinking there is something in with his childhood. Can't wait for next Wednesday!

With her determination to save, I'm so excited to watch on how and when NaYoungWon can buy a house. I wish in the succeeding episodes the focus will divert to the rom-com scenes and no longer poor and rich situation. I can't watch her drama without teared up, especially I shared na youngwon's struggles dealing with money and estate management.. I also teared when watched a scene with nam sangsoon (the gingseng guy) who wanted to buy his own house so he can marry his dreamed girl friend
And this drama has 0 overrated actors and actresses and random idols and models being put in drama..

And Jung So Min's Because This is My First Life is an underated drama with an interesting ending. Let's see how this drama would be. The theme maybe cliche, but thats how we like it, right? :D I've been waiting for this drama because I personally like a love / hate relationship, and I know this gonna be a light predictable rom com without too many makjangs and plots.

The casts are good and they are not unknown leads as what others think. Maybe you are not just updated with other korean actors as these main leads JungSoMin and KimJiSuk are popular actors. Just try to watch the drama and understand the message.

Well, as i see in news outlets, there are some who've been axed from showing, either from distortion or complaints from viewers. We don't know of monthly house, i think they need to review carefully, delete anything that might be of issue like excessive romance, nudity or anything that might put landlords at disgrace, "Oh my Landlord" whatever seems like this movie, and it premiered already, ep 2 has controversy. If this Monthly House has same content, better be careful too.

Her drama always same from PK until her latest drama. This is safe choice but popular especially for international fans.
