Mare is an elementary school student. She lives with her family in the city, but, right before her father goes bankrupt, they run away and settle down at a fishing village in Noto.
The family rents a couple's home who run a salt pond. Mare's father starts a new business, but it also fails. Her mother supports the family by working at the salt pond.
8 years later, Mare, about to graduate from high school, decides to work for the Wajima local government. She wants to have a steady job, unlike her father. Her job is to support people who move to Noto.

Sep 06 2022 11:10 am i am late bc i only started watching after finishing Alice in Borderland . i simply need more kentao but ended up really falling in love with this drama. every episode is just great and fun, really heartwarming too. i think i teared up while watching this drama more than when i’m watching sad ones. it’s simple but touch your heart deeply.
the romance part was realistic too. you can see the different kind of romances as they grow. during high school to their early twenties, you can see how they’re all still immature about it. you have no idea how much i’ve screamed “keita you idiot” lol. mare’s loveline is disappointing to some people. gotta admit, i enjoyed the daisuke-mare bits. but the realistic part is, mare who’s a romantic retard got confused bc daisuke is a totally different type of guy she had encountered. he’s interesting and bc keita was dating ichiko, she buried that feelings deep deep down. but when they met each other again and how she saw ichiko had hurt keita, it pained her. like how she was crying when she begged keita’s grandpa to not expel him. and the romance was just for the arc of them in that young age.
there are a lot of interesting characters too. but my favourite other than the main female and male, are daigo and daisuke. fumi and ganji too. but still, every character was brought to life and they’re all interesting. this is probably the first slice of life or family drama that i watch without skipping bc when i watch this kind of drama just for the ship, i will skip a lot of parts but nope, this drama is awesome. definitely one of my comfort dramas now.

saya May 06 2017 4:37 am Beautiful & inspirational story. I love everything about this, make's me wanna go to noto/wajima village. The heartwarming & caring of wajima village people. The friendship & family values.
But, it would be batter if the story giving mare more chance experiencing romance-love relationship with daisuke before she settle her felling to keita. daisuke feeling to mare seem genuine & his character is very interesting (the genius-free-spirit guy).
Opening song, notice it using standard Japanese language & 2 japanese dialect.

Lumin Jul 17 2016 9:39 am just finished watching, and you will never be disappointed when you watch it i swear :) every episode will make you smile and happy at the same time :) journey with mare's life and the noto people as this show takes you to experience the beautiful and breathtaking view of noto, japan, the delicious cakes, and wajima lacquer!!!!
Redvelvet Jan 16 2016 4:48 pm It was average, not that bad but nothing stood out. It was just bland and would probably forget about it in few months. Watch it if you have time to kill. The asadoras' I personally think are the best are Carnation, Amamchan, Gochisousama and Hanako to Anne (airing order).

fd Aug 22 2015 2:10 am Love the cast so much. The story is so heartwarming. The villagers in Noto are very friendly and they always care about each other. Don't forget the chef's family! They are so funny! one of the best asadora I've ever watch

pondloso Apr 04 2015 11:01 pm This asadora it better than amachan they build up story on reality you can see how people in the village live they life you can see how main family blanding with people in village i really love that it not use too much drama and over reality scene like other asadora made me watch and feel like it can happen best asadora after carnation.
