Ryu Seon-Jae (Byeon Woo-Seok) is a top star who has been in the spotlight since his debut. His life seems perfect, but being in the entertainment industry has completely worn him out. Meanwhile, Lim Sol (Kim Hye-Yoon) loves Ryu Seon-Jae as an adoring fan. When she was little, she had an accident. Due to that, she gave up on her dream, but listening to Ryu Seon-Jae’s song on the radio gave her comfort and she became his fan since then. One day, Lim Sol hears breaking news that Ryu Seon-Jae has ended his own life. She feels deep sadness over the tragic news. Miraculously, Lim Sol somehow travels back in time to 15 years in the past. There, she faces Ryu Seon-Jae, who is a 19 year old high school student. She struggles to prevent his tragic future.

Sora Jun 02 2026 3:10 pm People watching this need to understand Korean fan culture. I’m Sol is a devoted fan of Seon Jae. Her love for him was never romantic and her trying to save him had nothing to do with romantic love. She’s a fan girl who wanted to save him. Because his words gave her the will to live when she wanted to die. Perhaps watch Her Private Life first to understand fangirl love, before watching this drama. While Seon Jae was already in love with her, Im Sol didn’t start developing romantic feelings for him until much later in the drama and even then she wasn’t sure of what she was feeling.

Not understanding this could make you hate this drama. People who get it, will enjoy this drama.

I simply watched because of the female lead who I liked from Extraordinary You, and the male lead who I’d been looking out for since seeing him in Record of Youth (I kept wishing he’d get a lead role because he had male lead energy). The first 10mins of this drama made me stay. My favorite character is Sol’s mother. This woman can command a scene. What a presence she has! She had me in tears without her saying a word. This show has more than the popularity of the lead actor’s going for it. And if you watch it as a whole entity and not just for the romance, this drama is a 10/10 for sure.

Love every minute of it and will return to it over and over again each year. Lovely drama.

Such a dull character with so much negativity!! Came until 14th episode with patience just to see her push sun jae back more and more as she has been doing the whole drama… 16 episodes and we still have not got a proper dating era!? Such a bad last few episodes, not to mention the kidnapper story is too repetitive in every episode!!? Like police keep catching him and he get out of jail and what’s this loop!???

Arya Apr 14 2026 6:03 am Will forever be one of my fave kdramas. I rewatch this every April and still feel the same. I still cry bucket of tears and laugh a lot. I really love how the drama was beautifully written, the time slips are carefully thought of. KHY never disappoints, really. I could never picture out Im Sol other than her. The tandem with BWS is chef’a kiss. Both are very perfect for each other, I mean very perfect portraying Im Sol and Ryu Sun Jae. We’ll see you again next year, Sol-a Sunjae-ya ?

The story is engaging, and Sol and Sunjae’s journey really pulled me in. I found myself getting attached to them along the way. The characters are well developed and feel very real. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys a good drama.

Luna May 17 2025 1:04 am "This drama is too juvenille", "I'm too old to relate" Lollll..... I wonder how old were these commenters age? I mean, I am (almost) 35, but many parts of the drama are relates to adult struggle, especially mental health. The first episode are quite triggering (when you haven't found out yet that actually Sunjae was murdered, not s* word). And I love on how the writer never forced "adult behaviour" in the story because most of adults I know are "never act they age". This should be normalize actually! Because the only thing that change as we get older is our perspective, knowledge and the realization that age is only numbers.

Actually I watch this drama by coincidence. I was never thought that LR would carry quite heavy plot and rise some serious issues, because the flyer looks quite cringy and "romcom typical". But I got hooked when they give the viewers plot twist at the end of ep 2! And as it is a "Romantic Comedy" genre, the plotlines centered really well on the main topic (as it should be). I really love how the cast could pull out their micro expressions on every comical situations, especially Sunjae and Inhyuk *rofl! And I love how the cast could manage to differentiate their acting on their teenager timeline vs their adulthood ones, but still keeps intact their basic character. One thing that I love the most is, how the drama could hooked viewers up to activelly participate by guessing the storyline and making theories! Maybe that's one of the big factors why LR could so hype up. Oh, how I wish this drama never ends! T,T

Overall, LR is superb!

The attention to detail, the perfect comedic timing, and the poetic connections across different timelines are all so well done. Even though there’s nothing entirely new under the sun, this drama still feels incredibly fresh. ??

Of course, like any time-travel drama, it’s not flawless, but it surpasses expectations in so many ways. Who would have thought a show about a parasocial idol relationship could tug at your heartstrings so deeply?

The cast was spot on, the pacing was great, and it didn’t try too hard to be overly complicated—it’s just perfectly balanced as a fun, beautiful, and nostalgic experience. Looking back at their iconic scenes (and the songs!! OMG), this will definitely be a K-drama classic for years to come.

That's why, their writer choose her to be im sol, you did well the writer. But damn was I wrong, this was nothing like most k-dramas, there was so many emotional scenes and the actors were all really well casted as well. They all were good at acting and their appearance all fits the role very well.

I love this drama. It's so good and so well done. I've already rewatched this drama 3 times and ready for a 4th round. I'm also glad it has helped to make Byeon Woo-Seok a global star. After seeing him in Record of Youth I thought, "he needs a major lead role. He's just too good-looking to play second leads".

Never compare this drama with other genres like thriller, romance, and so on because it is truly different. From episode 1, this drama presents scenes that never get boring. There is no scene that feels unnecessary. Everything is connected, one scene leading to the next. For example, the part where Sunjae's father and Mak Imsol argue about the rented DVD. At first, I wondered why they were bickering about the DVD—it didn’t seem relevant... I even admit I skipped that part. But by the end of episode 2, it becomes clear that it was Sunjae who borrowed the DVD, but because he was nervous facing the beautiful Imsol, he grabbed the DVD and put his father’s name as the one who rented it. When this happened, I finally understood the writer’s intention. So after episode 2, I never skipped even a minute of the duration because I was afraid of missing what the writer and director wanted to convey.

The emotions displayed by Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok are also excellent. They’re precise and perfectly timed, showing a range of emotions. How many dramas can make you feel deeply sad one moment and then burst out laughing the next?

The performances by all the cast, particularly Kim Hye Yoon and Byeon Woo Seok, are nothing short of outstanding, capturing the essence of their characters with remarkable depth and nuance.

As an international K-drama fan, I started watching K-dramas as early as 2001. For many years, I’ve watched various genres, and I can proudly say that LOVELY RUNNER is the best drama I’ve ever watched. The storyline doesn’t repeat, but this drama itself makes me watch it over and over again, something I’ve never done before. Usually, even if I like a drama, I will watch it at most three times, and that’s spread out over a longer period. But even six months after finishing this drama, I’m still in the phase of K-drama depression... I’ve watched it more than five times over the past six months ? Lovely Runner also captures moments beautifully. The cinematography is simply breathtaking, beautifully complementing the tone and emotions of every scene and an original soundtrack that perfectly matches the scenes.

The carefully curated original soundtrack enhances the viewing experience, with each song perfectly matched to its corresponding moment, making the drama even more memorable. You can tell which song is specifically for the male lead and which one is for the kissing scene between the two characters. All the OSTs of Lovely Runner are so pleasant to listen to. I’ve never been this fond of the entire OST of a drama before. Usually, it’s just one or two songs that catch my attention. Thank you, Lovely Runner, for having such a big impact on my life. The days I spent watching Lovely Runner were beautiful. To the haters, there’s no need to spread negativity about Lovely Runner because you’ll never understand the storyline. This is definitely not a genre you should watch ?

What truly sets Lovely Runner apart is its ability to balance heartfelt moments with light-hearted humor, making it a perfect blend of emotion and entertainment. It’s a drama that stays with you long after the final episode, proving that it is, without a doubt, the best drama of 2024 !

Lovely Runner was exactly the kind of K-Drama I will always prefer over an genre that is romance and mystery. It was the perfect blend. I was just into the intial stages of it's hype like just a month after the drama ended, I joined in. Not much avid watcher of K-Drama, I thought of giving it a try. It was worth the hype. I loved it. It had comedy, emotions and love. The actor and actress were both amazing. They portrayed the role amazingly. For me, this will forever remain a special thing. Thank you to the whole team of LR for making such a amazing K-Drama ❤

whattodo Oct 31 2024 6:12 am I dropped it at ep 5. I tried to finish because I wanted to know what the hype was about but no I couldn't.I liked the 2nd male lead more his acting felt more natural. I liked Hyeyoon acting before but here her acting felt forced. For Byeon Woo Seok I didn't watch his dramas before so this was a first for me but he needs to get acting lessons asap. I think he has a long way to go in terms of acting. I thought he was stiff in his expression and in his acting.I don't hate the drama or the actors/actresses. I don't really care about them. Also, I wouldn't say I liked QOT so don't tell me I'm here bc of that lol.

I dont hate the drama or the other actors/actreses, but this drama is just a cringe/corny boring unreal kind of show. I feel too old to relate to the idea of the story. Story wouldve been tolerable if the casting was perfect. Not hating on hyeyoon because she's good in other dramas, but this was not it. Her acting made the drama cringe, can blame the director for this :/ there's no chemistry. And they dont look good physically together. They shouldve chosen a different female lead. Too bad

1. How is Geum able to buy a lottery ticket and win, while Sol is going back to her high school years?

2. Tae Sung should also have déjà vu memories like Seon Jae since Sol is also going back to high school, visiting In Hyuk’s home and know about Kim Young Soo, the kidnapper.

I was feeling giddy at the first few episodes, but have lost interest until the end. I Still managed to finish it though but i wasnt attentive to it anymore. Maybe i liked the high school sun jae and im sol better. Just my opinion. This drama is just really a matter of tastes and preference.

All the storylines, all the casts in this drama and the plot of this drama are very good, exciting, funny and not boring at all.I really like it. Byeon Woo Seok, I like your acting in this drama. He is very good at playing his character, he doesn't look stiff at all. Especially Hyeyoon, honestly I like her more in this drama. D The acting is good and always makes me laugh. Honestly, at first I was not interested in watching this drama. Even though this drama is very viral. I watched this drama because I was forced to because I had no more dramas to watch. So I watched this drama. And my review is 100/10. Very good. Highly recommended

oswinist Jul 28 2024 8:29 pm one day I was just mindlessly scrolling and ended up on byeon woo seok's page where I found his next project then proceeded to read the synopsis. didn't even have a poster and English name appart from the original name yet. it immediately peaked my interest so I put a pin on this one. now I finally have watched and I have mixed opinions.

I found the first episode one of the best first episodes I've ever watched; it was very emotional and meaningful, tugged on my heartstrings as if I was watching characters I've been following for a while. I think the aspect of idol and fan, one that is very close to my heart as I am a fan of many artists (and worry about their well-being a lot), was what brought so much emotion and closeness to the experience. the first part, where she is a fan trying to get close to him and prevent his fate was very enjoyable in every aspect. I loooooved the humour and her laid-back and detached interactions with taesung and I liked her interactions with sung jar; it was fun and fresh. appart from the first episode, another commendable thing was the confession scene with him saying in the recording and him in real time saying something of the sort in front of her, it was new and I liked very much!!

but then, when she went back to the future and they met again and sealed the romance, weirdly, the magic started to fade in my eyes, then I thought, what now? we still have tons of episodes to go! by her second time going back to the past, the story started to get repetitive, their dynamic wasn't as fun and interesting anymore to me (as now she isn't a fan trying to save her idol but a girlfriend trying to save her boyfriend and that didn't appeal too much as she tried and tried to push him away and he kept insisting, like, I totally get it and it makes sense, specially for her, but it wasn't as fun to watch as their dynamic in the first part), episodes and scenes dragged a little for me (nothing catastrophic, but I started getting bored; I usually complain about romances that the writers don't develop enough but funnily enough with this one I felt they were stretching too much and the butterflies didn't fly on my stomach anymore.), the crime arc got on my nerves, not because it was executed too badly but because it was boring and annoying as hell, and as the series progressed it got more and more boring. felt that those falling and catching scenes were used Way Too Much. like, I've watched my fair share of kdramas and I've never seen this being so overused. by the, like, third scene like this in a short period of time, instead of being nervous and in love I was rolling my eyes.

last part of the story was the most boring one, the dynamic was even less magical than before and I was powering through the episodes to end it. I also felt a little turned off by the overtly cutesy tone and attitude im sol started to have, I mean, it's ok to be cute but it felt a little too childish for a 33 year old to constantly act like that (maybe a mistake on the directing of the series, like they forgot she was old because she spent too much time wearing a high school uniform). a nitpick of mine as well was to be a little weirded out (this thought popped in my head by the university arc) with her being a 33 year old and falling in love with his teenager version, but it's not that bad, at that point I was just a little tired of her antics. I've seen a lot of posts commending this series because of "men written by women" and indeed it felt like it was but not in such a good way people think; I felt like they exaggerated a ton of aspects and clichés that appeal to women/it's common idealisations of women (the female gaze of sorts) but to such degree it started feeling flat or unnatural (like sung jae profound devotion to im sol despite everything, to the point he couldn't even engage in relationships in his adult life or like why did she mean So Much to him in the original timeline when they didn't even interact and the crush was merely platonic and because of a very small reason, or his behaviour in general feels like a boy created in a girls mind and not a real boy/man etc).

all in all, not the worst experience of my life, acting was pretty good, ost pretty good, byeon woo seok is a surprisingly good singer. it was throughly enjoyable at some parts, others not so much and I wish they would show a little more from the boys together and their friendship because taesung and sungjae scene on the karaoke and inhyuk caring for them was really fun, but it's ok. not the best, but not the worst by any means.

While the cinematography and soundtrack were commendable, they couldn't compensate for the overall lackluster narrative and weak character arcs. "Lovely Runner" had potential, but it fell short of delivering a memorable viewing experience.

To be honest I was taking a back whether or not I’d watch this romcom drama, thank god I did not skip I am now completely hooked up with onscreen offscreen chemistry of BWS and KHY. i have been watching Kdrama for many years I never in my life been a fan or shipped onscreen couple but this two made me want them to be real life couple. There is something with BWS and KHY that made me fall in love not just drama but also offscreen chemistry. nevertheless I am rooting for this two blossoming actor and actress. I will forever love this two.

I just thought this drama was like a collection of scenarios from a story board presentations or story conference where the writers and the producers and all involved can’t decide which one will work but they loved it all so they decided to incorporate time travel so they could use it all those scenarios, anyway they were in control. Like Erika said it was full of cliche here and there but it was effective for their own good.

Although they tried to muck it up with cliche scenes (flashbacks, slow catches, so-so side murderer plot), they couldn't make you Lovely Runner.

What I think they got right: -Choosing the Perfect cast! Byeon Woo-Seok is the most IN LOVE man I've seen a in while!

-We got an awesome setup episode that really opened up the world we were joining.

-We got introduced to the mystery aspect pretty early on so it wasn't just thrown in there hastily -A original story with a non original theme (time travel) -No awkward skinship -very nice ost -comedy (I had hoped they'd continue to poke fun at clichés like when the friend was dropping petals from the roof, but see below)

What I would mildly critique them on -Hye-Yoon really got to show some acting skills but I think the writers did too much having Sol Cry in 75% of her scenes.

-They quickly abandoned the cute ending scene where we see something change in the future at the end of the episode (the photo appearing on the table) -With such good writing for the main characters, it was disappointing to see the same "older brother / sister's best friend" relationship play out the same as countless other dramas.

-As mentioned, they really went out of their way to include those overused elements that all k-romances use.... I can forgive the 8 umbrella scenes because at least the rain was built as plot device.

It seems like I have more negatives but that's just not true. This was really a good drama if you're looking for some romance. You will feel the swoon all over because the leads were very believable as in love.

Mango Jun 18 2024 1:26 am Love the acting, love sun jae's relatable and cute character but hate the comical exaggerations and im sol's insufferable stupidity.

There are so many parts of the drama that are just lacking in logic and common sense. I get that these are all for the plots but my Blood Pressure just rises whenever something like this pops up. For instance im sol knows that she is going to be kidnapped and chased by the car. I can understand that 15 y/o im sol is utterly shocked so she instinctively runs infront of the car even though she cant outrun the car and is instead putting herself in danger of getting chased down by the kidnapper or worse, ran over. But 30 y/o im sol has the memory of the scene, the time and ability to prepare for different scenarios and plans, and to avoid the same mistakes. And she was given two chances to go back in time but aside from removing his car keys, she does the same thing again and again and sun jae has to rescue her both times. Additionally, when im sol says something about the future, time stops for everyone else. She has used this to her advantage when she hides from sun jae's dad and runs into sunjae's room yet she does not use it when escaping the kidnapper. Why???? ???? cos sun jae has to save her? Also the comical exaggerations are so deliberate and out of hand that it stops getting funny. E.g. Im geum and hyun ju getting chased by im sol and sun jae when im geum, the big brother, can literally just scold im sol and sun jae like he always does and ask them to get out of the house. Also im geum getting tased because im sol closed her eyes and just tased anyone. wow, it is so im sol to do that.

There are also some loopholes in the drama, especially the time travel. Time is supposed to stop when im sol says something about the future yet when she tells him that he is going to be famous/a singer he is able to hear it?? Also sun jae is injured in his left shoulder but isnt heavily injured when the kidnapper repeatedly kicks or punch him there. The writers are just blatantly overriding all logic and common sense as long they can achieve their desired plot which is just so frustrating to see. Sun jae's character is this drama's saving grace. Besides Byun Woo Seok's visuals, everything sun jae does is logical and his comical and cute moments are actually funny and real.

YKdrama Jun 16 2024 9:32 pm I think people should appreciate Lovely Runner for what it is, a nostalgic romcom about fated lovers.

Would it delivers a super sophisticated time travelling sci-fi intricacy like you would expect from Nolan’s movies, of course not. Would the story give you a nuanced motives from the serial killer so that you would understand his motives? What for? The writer knows that these are not the tropes that they should focus on so they poured in all their effort to make sure what is important in this genre delivered with respect and boy they carried this up to the finish line.

I have lost count on how many times I have rewatched the drama, and each time I always find myself appreciating the storyline even more. It is fascinating on how the writer, the directors and all the cast nails every single parallel with a chef’s kiss. Think about it, in the first timeline we see Im Sol, who was unaware of Highschool Seon Jae, completely unaware that she was his first love and his hit song was actually about her. And in the last timeline we have Seon Jae who is unaware of the fact that he was her first love and that her first script was actually made based on her story with him.

Not to mention all the detailed set up that left quite a lasting impression, I mean I will never see yellow umbrella not thinking about Im Sol or seeing that Casio watch without thinking Seon Jae.

Finally the OST, I have a high appreciation for the level of care the team has put in thinking the OST, the lyrics and even the timing of the release of such OST so that some particular scenes will stick with you when you hear that song. I applaud their effort for making these came to life and especially knowing that the series was an underdog, even Netflix and Studio Dragon not willing put their money behind it so kudos the entire cast and crew!!

I’m not surprised that many would say there are plot holes in this series. There are plenty of them actually. But I’m surprised that many people called this drama overhyped. Maybe yes, it’s not everyone’s cup of tea. And if you’re someone binged watched it after the series ended there will be differences to those who watched it from episode 1 up until it ended. The joy of waiting each week is sooo exciting and different. It aired on Monday and Tuesday schedule, many people like me hated Monday but it became something to look forward to! It’s not a perfect and well made drama, there’s a lot of cliches but Imsol and Sunjae hits different and made it more different if you watch their behind the scenes. Did she forget they have both acknowledged & accepted their relationship at ep 8! I doubt I wana continue watching. Disappointed storyline. Pity the good acting by the cast though. My fav character is Hye Ju! She is really comical & cute!

Using the original titles would have been way better, "Best of Tomorrow" or "Tomorrow's Best", cause y'know, it's about her trying to create a better future? Lovely Runner? Imagine if CLOY was called "Lovely Landing" ? smh. Anw loved the drama but tbh they could have ended it after ep 8, they kept reusing the same plot device to stretch it out, but I was fine with that.

I got the feel of what OG kDramas used to be like. i enjoyed the chemistry and romance between the leads and the friendship with their friend groups in their teenage years. At some point in the series i got skeptical about witnessing a lot of timetravel and the storyline getting too complicated but that never happened even though i saw the drama as they aired episodes weekly. this is one of those dramas that age well and stay timeless. Also, I saw 20th Century Girl after this but I would recommed seeing this movie before Lovely Runner because I couldn't take Woo-Soek seriously when he tried playing mean, haha. Also he killed his role as Si-Oh. Im Sol carried as well, her smile and voice. The series was perfectly cast in my opinion

Plus, if she tell her family in first place it can save both her and Seon Jae. Thankfully the detective told her family. She already know SJ going to do extra mile for her but instead trying to save him, she put much more dangerous situation to both of them. Quite stupid character. If I were the owner of time travel, the moment she decided to stay back at Busan, I definitely send her back to her first situation where she disabled. 2 times giving chances but useless. Haiyaaa

for my review for whole drama, the drama is just like another typical romcom kdrama, no special about it. There several eps I skip a lot as too cliche and draggy.

(But I still wanna know the reason why the villain has that motive) Hye Yoon & Woo Seok Chemistry Is Reallly A Bomb!!!!! Drama that Netflix regretted for not acquiring it. I never thought I'm going to watch this. Just thought another typical kdrama. But, the poster is all over the place and I need a drama with good ending. It's been so long since I last watched Kim Hye-yoon and I miss her. I've watched most of Byun Woo-seok drama so I have an idea how he would do.

Boy, I'm so relief. This drama exceeded my expectation. All the ingredients of typical kdrama is there. And it's from True Beauty writer who tend to make her characters look over the top expression but just like it, they're not annoying. It's enjoyable. Supporting roles and cameos have their own quality time.

The leads are good together. They're so lovely. This drama make me smile and laugh the whole run.

p/s: but why Kim Hye-yoon always with very tall leading man

I thought nothing can ever replace Extraordinary You and Kingdom for me but this has easily crashed those two aside and became my all time favorite. There is always something that never satisfied me in a kdrama but this has hit all the right spot. No dull moments, no skippable scenes, nothing to make you turn the other way. It makes you look forward to every episode and hooks you tighly. It will make you focus and gripple your seat like no other.

Also let me commend the leads. This has been the first time I was introduced to Byeon Woo Seok. I never expected anything from him since I thought he was just another facecard like Cha Eun Woo and Hwang Min-Hyun but boy was I surprised. He HAS the skills to back his face. I always, always go for the acting in kdramas rather than the looks and my guy nailed every breath, every swipe, every tiny trivial movements in his character. His adlibs were on point and fits his character. I really liked how he differentiated and puts color to his highschool, college, singer and actor personas but still has a touch of his Sun Jae roots. He's so comfortable with Kim Hye Yun. I have never seen such a convincing kdrama couple. These two are exploding with Chemistry. Mind you, I have watched other popular kdramas with real life couples but nothing can compare to how this two can make you feel.

Kim Hye Yun, I was never wrong to stan her since Extraordinary You. I followed her to all her dramas from Sky Castle to Secret Royal Inspector & Joy. I was always hungry for her acting and she fed me right with this one I am so proud of her. I hope she gets more lead roles. She is a hidden gem. The way she characterize her personas are so distinct and changes with every role. She and Byeon Woo Seok complements each other. They know how to pin every facial expression, every turn, every step, their eyes alone can tell stories. I have nothing but praises for these two.

Let's not forget the writer, whoever you are I thank you for sharing such masterpiece to the rest of the world.

I never wanted this to end aaahhh. I never rewatch any drama in my life but I'm going to for this one. Lovely Runner, is perfection.

I like the feeling of trying harder to achieve my goal that was when I learned that KHY's journey until she became a main lead actress.patience was the key to her success. nin Jun 02 2024 1:35 am This will probably go into my list of favorite dramas of all time. Kim Hye Yoon is such an amazing actress. I was bawling my eyes out that first scene. I waited until the series had finished because I was afraid it would just make me cry endlessly. But, as much as this was a high stakes drama, the funny and cute moments sprinkled all throughout the series kept my hope for our main characters.

Much respect to Byeon Woo Seok for being the whipped lover boy Sun Jae who stumbled over himself whilst caring for Im Sol. They both reminded me of the intense love that youngsters first experienced.

Every episode was so meaningful that the director really made use of every second to show us how love can transcend timelines. I'm so happy this drama brought back my adoration for Kdramas. Bravo to all the actors, staff, and filming crew. I look forward to more works from everyone who was involved.

Sunday Jun 01 2024 12:38 pm I never so invested in watching a drama as much as I did for Lovely Runner! It is a very good kdrama for many reasons. Almost every episode brings laughter and tears together. It takes the audience for a rollercoaster emotional ride with Im Sol and Sun Jae. To be honest, Kim Hye-Yoon is the one that brings this drama to live! Because her superb acting as Im Sol, she makes Sun-Jae shines in his role as Sun Jae. She also makes others shine in their roles. Byeon Woo Seok acting is impressive too, matching well with KHY. When both leads are very comfortable to each other, their chemistry looks more genuine and immersive! I’d never been invested emotionally to main casts as much as I did to SolSun. KHY and BWS are portraying their roles well as high schoolers, college students and adults! I enjoy watching their interactions in each of timeline. Their height difference actually brings lot of cute scenes between them. I cannot think any other artist and actor that match better than them for these roles. They do deserve many awards for their hard work in this drama.

Congratulations to the writer, producers and crews for producing such a wonderful drama, with attention to details that highlight the strengths and loveliness of both FL/ML. The ending is beautiful and very satisfying as well. Thank you for dedicating the last episode with many wonderful happy scenes, feel like a reward for us, loyal audience. The OST songs are captivated as well.

I will keep this drama close to my heart always. See you all in your next projects.

As kdrama addict since 2009 and have watched almost 200 kdrama, this is romcom kdrama i was searching for. The plot, character, acting, vibes and the butterfly effect was amazing. Kim hyeyoon & byeon wooseok was born to be sol and sunjae, i can't imagine if anyone replace them. Thank you so much director, writter, staff and all actor who have made this drama so beautiful even in the middle of production and at the start of airing people so underestimate but you all can make them shut up with this organic hits!!! How many times he failed to captive Im-sol. He just won't stop unless he got what he wanted. Even if it took him all his years just to satisfy his own selfish revenge and thirst. Unfortunately. soljae May 30 2024 5:41 am this just moved to my Top 1 romcom of all time. The characters are so lovely especially loser sunjae. Plus hyeyoon and wooseok's chemistry are off the roof. The comedy and romance parts were top notch but some of the mystery parts were left for self interpretation. But i care more about the romance between these two (hehe). This is the only kdrama that made me crave for more episode instead of getting bored. All i can say is this is the epitome of Romance drama. I'm gonna miss Sol and Sunjae...♡

The plot and my favorite genre, time travel, which I eagerly anticipate in each kdrama (I love time travel dramas so much), are exceptional. The storyline was smooth and understandable for me. There was no need to think hard to understand why, which, and what happens when time travel occurs. Omg! Can I just scream that I love this drama’s concept and idea so much? I hope for more dramas like this, but with a more thrilling version ??.

I don’t want to complain much. From the settings, plot twists, character development, and life lessons, this drama excels. I love how they show that if you choose something, you probably have to sacrifice something. Yes, indeed, in our lives, we need to make choices. There is nothing in this world where we do not make choices; everything happens for reasons that we choose from the start.

“Sincerely, I was not a fan of Byeon Woo Seok at first. But this drama changed my mind; his character was the greenest flag ever. The plot twist, especially his point of view in the second episode, really hooked me and kept me following the drama until the end. I’m just giggling and being delusional, wishing for a partner who loves me more than anything. Hahahahahaha, sorry, can you give me a moment to be delusional? ? And Im Sol’s character was really good, the strongest ever. She travels four times to save herself, her family, and her love. Omg! I love it so much. (I will do an additional appreciation post for Kim Hye Yoon, who excelled in her character.)

I will give this drama 100000000/10 stars. It turned out really well, and the OSTs are also really good. Besides ‘Sudden Shower,’ my favorite OST is ‘A Day’ by Jongho of Ateez. If you are not an Atiny or a K-pop fan but you are a kdrama fan, please don’t forget to check out his precious voice.

++++ The supporting characters also did very well portraying their roles ?. Kim Taesung, Baek In Hyuk, Im Geum, Hyunju, and others really made me enjoy watching this drama even more.

The intricate details, the comedic punch, and the poetic parallels they pull across different timelines. Like there’s nothing new under the sun but somehow this drama still feels extremely fresh ??

Like any other time travel drama, of course it is not perfect, but it still exceeds way beyond expectations. Who would have thought that a drama about a parasocial idol relationship could pull your heartstrings.

It was a perfectly cast drama, nicely paced, not trying so hard to be overly complicated, it is just enough for what it is, a beautiful, fun and nostalgic. Looking back at their iconic scenes (and their songss!! OMG), definitely going to be a classic K drama staple for a long time.

Congratulations Lovely Runner you earned ur spot in my top kdrama of All Time together with hospital playlist, reply series and 2521, to name a few.

And what makes it even more amazing they did it without Netflix, Studio Dragon, and annoying PPLs. Limited marketing from TvN (esp in the beginning) and the unfortunate monday- tuesday slot.

It is always nice rooting for the underdog and for the past two months, nungguin dan liatin wavenya Lovely Runner feels like you are cheering for an underdog.

So Lee Si Eun you have my respect, am so sorry for not vibing with ur past works but thank you for bringing Lovely Runner to us and for being so patient on this project until you nail the perfect cast ????

reagan May 28 2024 11:53 pm I'm a sucker for time or space travel dramas because of the intricate concepts they involve, like the butterfly effect. For this drama, 'Lovely Runner', I appreciated the laid-back tone, but I found some aspects, especially in the latter part, lacking in logical coherence.

- SPOILER**

1. Sunjae's Migraine: It's hard to consider these as 'memories' when they didn't actually happen in their timeline. And, just him?

2. The Grandmother and the Watch: The grandmother had the watch all this time, but the reason for this is never clearly explained. Is she sick, possessed by a deity? I don't know.

3. Im Sol's new 3/3 watch: Im Sol uses the new watch to time travel again, but for some reason, she manages to go back to a time before she and Sunjae even met, which is different from her previous time travel experiences.

4. Tae Sung: If Im Sol had not approached Sunjae at all, then there would have been no closure for her and Tae Sung either. Plus, they even moved away immediately after Sunjae was injured, so even though Tae Sung is the son of the detective, Im Sol was not the victim of that time anymore (as shown in the new timeline for being not the target anymore), so it's unlikely that she would have any significant connection with Tae Sung back then with the new timeline.

Time travel dramas often take this route (avoiding interaction to prevent tragedy), and I usually dislike them when the reasoning on some part doesn’t make sense, as in this case.

Nonetheless, I give this drama an 8.7/10. I've been a kdrama watcher for more than a decade now, and finding one that is calming, sweet, yet still kind of engaging, is a real treat among the current offerings. I'm also happy that Byeon Wooseok is also getting the limelight!

There's something I've been very curious about. Doesn't Im Sol have the ability to stop the time by saying the events that happened in the future? Why didn't she use it to "trap" the killer? Why did she keep running when she could easily walk and stop the time whenever that killer chased her? Doesn't she have taser that they showed in early episodes? She can bring it with her if she "knew" the killer will come out to kill her. Stop the time and then use the taser on the killer. I know it can not kill, but at least it can make him faint at least. It was frustrating watching her ran away in Inhyuk's hometown just to catch him when she could easily use her "ability". Wth that killer is so obsessed with her? Like, is there no reason at all? Just because she was at that place (early episode) and saw the evidence of murder? Also I hope this is the last time she push away Sunjae just to save him. It only gives her more trauma because she keeps watching him die in different ways. There are fates that can not be changed. And it's his fate to die for saving her. She can never change it.

Isn't it true that the last time ImSol tried not to have contact with SunJae and others. But why is TaeSung still remember the first time travel version of Sol, the one that nagging smoking boys in the alley? But also the same TaeSung confused by Sol cause crying for SunJae that has no connection with them in the current time. Ahhh did I missed something or the crew missed a detail?! I watched all of Byeon Wooseok's drama/films, even followed him as a model in IG, long before he became an actor. But this drama give him big exposure and show us his great acting skill! Love to see him more as main lead in the future.

as for Kim Hye yoon, before watch her in lovely runner actually I don’t really like her since mostly her character is rebel/villain.. But I do really love her character here, her acting, chemistry was so good!

Some may find it boring because the story is not extraordinary as compared to other dramas but for me its what makes it fun to watch. The romance and chemistry of the main leads makes you want to fall in love again, it's not cringy to watch. At some point in our lives we experience the so called "first love" and ussually it happened during our teenage life. This drama brings back those memories. I loughed a lot too while watching this drama, the OAness of the two leads is really funny and cute. While others find the time travelling part to be a little bit confusing and frustrating because of the repeated death of sunjae, I find it to be interesting. I watched this after watching Queen of Tears, also a good one, but its a heavy drama. Lovely runner helps me get over the heavy emotions from queen of tears. Its a breath of fresh air. Waiting for the last 2 episodes, i hope its a happy ending....

i only keep watching because the great acting and undeniable chemistry between the actors. (everyone did a fantastic job in this!) storyline-wise, i would've dropped this long ago. it gets very draggy, especially about the taxi driver. like we still don't know whether he takes part in time-traveling, and at this point, i've lost all my interest to find out. for all i know, he could be the one who owns the watch like the other time-traveler character in the novel. idc. the comedy gets cringy at times, but funny nonetheless because i'd chuckle a little here and there.

one thing i noticed, however, no matter how draggy it could get, the team knew how to attract the viewers to keep watching by inserting some cute/comedic moments between im sol and ryu sunjae. the comedy involving other characters in the drama also helped, e.g. baek inhyuk, im sol's family and her friend, ryu sunjae's dad, etc. like i said, it's their collectively great acting that adds more value to the drama.

(i still skipped some scenes, though.)

i've heard theories on twitter about the tiny details the production team put in the drama, and i'd say it's kinda the bare minimum ngl. especially for a supposedly thriller drama...

anyway, despite its shortcomings, i enjoyed the drama. kim hyeyoon's performance is as usual Phenomenal, and even the extras here act better than some senior actors i know. they deserve the massive popularity for sure. i hope this drama can be a stepping stone for them to get bigger roles.

For instance where Im-Sol says something from the future everything pauses and I was like "someone has done their homework indeed". And it so reminds me of the videogame Life is Strange alittle bit the vibe of it all in the series and no matter how much you change these certain events and stuff there will always be that singular loophole or butterfly effect stance. In trying to save that certain someone or individual from harm or any other sorta-type of situation matter.

Great series indeed and I can't wait to see how it ends and where it goes for both Im-sol and San-Jae.

What's with the Villain? May 15 2024 1:12 am I just find the suspect's fixation on Im Sol kinda MEH. It's frustrating. I can't feel the suspense to the point that the whole thing is ridiculous.

1st) Because he was supposed to be a Serial offender (or murderer) and yet he kept pursuing Im Sol despite of knowing the police will find him.

Serial offender's thrive on anonimity and doesn't want to be identified. And yet he was out in the open. Not even wearing a disguise. What you see in the news is his actual everyday get up. Why hasn't he been caught yet? ?‍??‍?

2nd) He should have victims after failed attempts with Im Sol. Then proceed with Im Sol otherwise he's just Im Sol's stalker.

3rd) His reason behind his fixation on Im Sol is unidentified and not persuasive, doesn't have a driving force. It's not as if his d*ck was severed because of her. Or Im Sol is hiding something that is valuable to him.

4) Im Sol's actions are idiotic. Incomprehensible. Atleast go home first. You saw a vision of that clip and you have a chance to go home and yet you chose to remain? ?? Kdrama at it's finest. And why would you hide it?

The drama was really great before this episode. I just want something to relieve stress or entertain me and yet.. ?? This drama is in ruins.

I'm glad they keep the tension even though only 4 episodes left. Since this is a time travel thing, changing plot to keep the tension doesn't feel weird at all. Sometimes I don't understand Im Sol. I know she doesn't want anything bad happen to Sunjae because of the killer and chose to fight the killer without Sunjae. But, I'm just thinking if only Im Sol didn't hide everything from Sunjae, everything will be better, they will make a plan together to get the killer. And if I'm Im Sol, when I have a vision about what will happen for them in that village, I'll just leave the village with Sunjae, instead of leaving Sunjae in the train and let Sunjae go back to Seoul by himself.

And the preview for episode 13 doesn't look good. Because you can see Im Sol going back to 2023 time and her eyes looks so sad.

But it's giving me a heart attack when seeing Eclipse without Sunjae. Is it the only way for Sunjae to be safe? Not being famous so the killer hard to find him? I still want to see In Hyuk and Sunjae's friendship even after being singer. Their friendship is one of the reason I keep watching this drama. I hope Sunjae will join the band later.

Haru May 06 2024 10:00 am The plot being so slow lately, maybe because there are still 7 episode left. I still love this drama, because of Im Sol and Sunjae. But think about what will happend in the next episode, it's hard to see.

I understand Im Sol's reason avoid Sunjae, because she knows Sunjae's death is inevitable as long as he's with her in the past. But it really bad for Sunjae. He knows nothing about Im Sol's real reason.

At the end of episode 9 I found hope. A hope that Sunjae will know about everything. But the hope is gone after I saw the 10th episode preview. Why would he think Im Sol reject him by telling lies that she come from the future? Just believe her!! That's the only reason that she can sing the song Sunjae write (the song which only In Hyuk knew about).

is it just me but don't other people find Im Sol annoying? I mean, she's already 30 but every time she goes back in time (to high school and now university), her actions are immature and create trouble and heartache for Sun Jae (although she is supposed to go back in time to save him?)..

She pretends to sleep on the floor to avoid her classmates, runs out into the wilderness and then get drunk (and Sun Jae mistakes that it's because she hates him)... is the audience supposed to find it cute? Hmm...

I know I miss their high school day, but it's hard to see and think what will happen if Im Sol doing the time slipper again... Because it'll be repetitive like the 4th and 7th episode, seeing the original Im Sol doesn't remember anything about Sunjae. It's really hard to see. I can't imagine how Sunjae's feeling.

But, I really hope that Sunjae knows everything. About how hard Im Sol try to change their fate, how much she cares about him, and about the time slipper too.

I'm still curious about what will happen for the rest episode. They'll meet the killer obviously. Because you can see, Im Sol saved by Sunjae twice; on September 2008 and other day 14 years ago. And it looks almost impossible for Im Sol to go back to that time because she doesn't have Sunjae watch anymore. Or maybe they have another chance with an square watch Sunjae have (I don't know why but they show us that watch intentionally as if that watch is special for Sunjae).

You can hear Sunjae said "who is this? Do we know each other?" I hope that's not for Im sol. I'm still waiting for each episode. Im Sol already used the 'time machine' twice. There is only one last chance for the rest episode. And I'm still curious about their actual life before Im Sol back to the past and the night when Im Sol was kidnapped. How can she survived (even though not in a good condition)?

I found DanOh "click" sounds every time the scene changes in Episode 5 on 9.10 minutes. Watching dramas that come out every week makes my heart flutter, but How I looked at the main character became different because while waiting every week, I found out too much about what the real character was like in life, I didn't expect the real life facts could be this influential. SeungJae suddenly looks too old to play a high school student, but because he is still cute in every scene, I feel comfortable watching him again.

She is so talented and mature compared to Hong Suzu. The actor Woo Seok is also great. The chemistry between these 2 is very lovely. I hope they don't drag it and they keep the same pacing.

I have read Season 1 of the webtoon and even though the premise was fun, I did not like the main characters, it was too frustrating. The drama has done a good job, more likeable characters and interesting plot. Hope they keep it up.

An absolutely great pairing between a gorgeous and calm BWS and a cute energetic KHY. They act very well. I love seeing their chemistry, and feel like we are having emotional ride with them.

Now, the whole world is hoping Im Sol can change the fate of Sun Jae. The fact that he met her again 2023, knew that she is his hard core fan, and even found out where she lives, should be a good reason to keep living and reconnect. So, I am wondering why he died? I really hope a happy ending, but I don't know how?

A good drama is the one that you cannot wait for the next episodes. Great production!

Hyeyoon as a female lead and a tall actor as a male lead (Rowoon in EY and Wooseok in this one), the time travel/twist (that's similar to stage and shadow in EY), the second male lead who has loneliness because of his family.

4 episodes so far and love it! Really look forward to the revelation of Sung Jae's death (which might not be suicide attempt), and Sol's accident (which definitely caused by the taxi driver - but why? And who's it?)

Love Hyeyoon, Wooseok, and Geonhee's acting, and they're perfect for their roles!

Haru Apr 16 2024 3:12 pm I love the fourth episode, they answered some questionable plot at the first and second episode. Sunjae's POV at the beginning explains that they were actually close before Im Sol going back to the past, because you can see their photo wasn't on the table.

It's a good thing that Im Sol can change the past. But also frustrating when there's no connection between 2008 and 2023 Im Sol. No matter how hard 2023 Im Sol try to safe Sunjae, 2008 Im Sol can't remember about Sunjae.

SPOILER ALERT!

1. About the candy Sunjae likes in the present time, actually that's the type of candy that Im Sol gave him in the past. 2. So it means Sunjae knew about Im Sol and really had a crush on her even before Im Sol back to the past. But why did Im Sol doesn't remember anything about him? She doesn't even remember that Sunjae's school really close to hers. They even are neighbours, of course the knew each other. It means just Im Sol who didn't remember about them. 3. Did Im Sol's accident happened because of Sunjae or atleast Sunjae knew something about her accident? (Because there is a fraction memory of Im Sol when a male scream her name before her accident). Remember when Im Sol asked to her mom about a man who saved her on the day of her accident, her mom said that she didn't know/didn't remember, but maybe she knew something she just didn't want to talk about it. 4. At the accident, we saw Im Sol had a scar on her face as if she was injured by someone. Who did that to her? And what actually happened that day? 5. Even it's just a slight expression, I can see Sunjae feel sad seeing Im Sol in the present. Did seeing her again has anything to do with his decision?

I know it should be a light drama, but I just love the detail and mistery they plant in here. It makes this drama not only fresh but also worth a wait. Aside of the story, I should give big applause to the cast. THEY CAN ACT!!! I can feel Im Sol emotion about losing idol (not just an idol, he is someone who saved her live when she almost give up but cannot save him the way he saved her). Oh my god, I just can't wait to watch every episode.

I watched a kdrama which many viewers were disappointed at the FL bcs she couldn't act well on her role eventhough she is looking gorgeous. It's all about acting, the FL here is doing very very well like I could get angry, hurt and cried watching her act the scene.

April 8, 2024, they started the episode showing the solar eclipse which in real life it is happening/happened around the world esp. in the America area. I don't know if they timed to release the show/first episode today (April 8) knowing that Solar Eclipse will happen today...Either coincidence or planned, I find it awesome to start their first episode esp. since the Solar Eclipse is happening around the world today, Monday, April 8 is history in the making which will make some sort of a 'mark' or point to the start of this drama. Way to go. Looking forward to this drama.

Someone in the comments said it might be a "highschool drama", which i personally don't think so because i've read the webtoon, this one was written very simple so i'm way more curious about the show itself because they'll add spice for sure.

Considering she travels back to when he was still in high school, then the plot must be a high school life! Will it be giving out Extraordinary You vibe again as she's the main actress? I'm rooting for this, hope they will air it soon!
