Koo Kyung-Yi (Lee Young-Ae) is in her 40's. She is a former police officer, but now works as an insurance investigator and a private detective. With her smarts and excellent intuition, she is able to solve cases. Koo Kyung-Yi tries to catch a serial killer, who is a female university student.

I don't see any informations here if this is based on a webtoon. It feels like it as everything is hyped and a little weird, but in a good and entertaining way. You should not think too much about things you see.
The camera work is great, the highlight is at the end where they reveal Koo's master plan and rotate around her and the same scenes that could be seen before are now "different". That's great work :)
The actors are fantastic and to be honest, I'd like to watch a 2nd season. The recurring theme song also fits perfectly and has a great sound.
Not a spoiler since it's not very important to the plot: It would have been nice to know more about K and the weird things she seems to see. This was shown at first but later on it somehow disappeared. I was thinking for at least half of the drama that it has to do with something supernatural.

I understand she's supposed to be a reclusive eccentric character; however, at times it was so fake and cringeworthy. It's a great drama, but her acting just ruined the whole thing.
MarcEdward Aug 21 2025 7:12 pm This KD is a must see. If anybody wanted to see well written "strong female characters" this is the show. Great cast, great story, great direction, even great OST. If you like predictable stories with 7 episodes waiting for "when will they kiss", followed by one fun episode that ends in tragedy, said couple breaking up, then going to Jeju Island in episode 13 and making up by episode 15, this show is not for you. If you like new, different, well done, unpredictable to the point where your brain grows new neural pathways and you literally become smarter, this show is for you.

Drellerd Feb 27 2024 7:11 pm Enjoyed Inspector Koo very much. The cat and mouse storyline was quite ingenious. Inspector Koo character is a self-immersed slob, totally brilliant and endearing all at the same time. K character is an insane ruthless genius with an innocent face. Very well executed and acted. Loved it, loved it, loved it, even though I was reading the subtitles. Wish I could speak Korean. Highly recommend.
Onep Feb 14 2024 2:32 pm Started this because of Lee Young Ae. She doesnt disappoint. She plays a cynical and eccentric detective. I could tell she devoted a lot to this role.
I was immersed by K character. A girl with so much strength, intelligence, yet so insane. I think its what makes this cat-and-mouse engaging. Both characters have big personalities.
I liked the soundtrack too.

At first i thought the drama is more to finding insurance fraud, but no...meh,
Park Min Sep 25 2023 11:18 am I really appreciate its style but the plot was sacrificing way too much in favor of its supposed black comedy. Sure the drama had its high moments where the comedy really shined but the endless 12 episodes chase was exhausting and poorly executed. At least there's more to like about it, the drama had a good selection of soundtracks that amplified its stylistic moments. I wish this drama was a movie, it would have been a lot more fitting for what it had to offer. Anyway, the drama seems to be an accurate representation of Lee Young Ae's long hiatuses.

Kez Mar 21 2022 12:24 am I just finished this and its honestly one of the best kdramas I've seen. It defo underrated for sure and the LGBTQ+ representation is tangible. I also love how dudes were so smitten over Santa smile. No one can withstand his smile lol it was so cute. It was just an insanely smart writen show. It's a little confusing at first but easier to follow after an ep or 2.its also seemed like they planned for alot more then they were able to address so hopefully there is a season 2!

It's another one of those dramas where the writer managed to make every single character (except for the chairman's youngest, HyeonTae) so charming and lovable in their own ways. I LOVED everyone! All from the minor characters, to the villains, and the 4 friends, most especially inspector Koo, and Santa.
I am glad this does not have a love story that distracts from the plot. The cast was perfect! Every single one of them nailed their roles perfectly. The OST and the animation was so cool. Season 2 please!

Yumi Dec 29 2021 4:37 am I just finished watching and surprisingly I actually enjoyed it. The first 4 episodes may be boring but after that, I couldn't stop watching. I don't know why it got such low rating bcoz I think it deserves a bit more attention.
Some parts may seem cliche and corny, especially when they started to play that song. LYA acting really reminds me of Jun Ji Hyun though - even the way she speaks.
There are parts where I feel that the director was trying so hard to make them look so cool or so.
I just dislike that the main lead is so sloppy... looking messy is another thing but having flies around her and being extremely smelly is another thing, so I feel so uncomfortable whenever she speaks closely to the other characters. And I hope they made a clear indication of what really happened with Santa and detective's husband.
Overall this is one of those dramas that I might rewatch again.

This story is my dream story i wished to come true. a bad guy (who is just chillin n FUNNY and not being depressive with their backstory or sumthing) whos killing people who did wrong taking revenge from asholes???I'm now on ep.6 it'ss so goood

Ann Dec 25 2021 10:35 am Also some of the scenes arent well conected. Sometimes They are looking for someone at night and suddently becomes morning or They are wearing different clothes. They go scene by scene without explaining when was it. It may be confusing.
But They only met her in the morning and They were wearing different clothes... like???? So She knew where K was but went back home to shower/change clothes and then went looking for her????

Koo is annoying. I sometimes got angry at her actions bc She sounds so out of space. I would hate to be around someone as problematic as her. Koo isnt atractive as a main character either.
My favorites were Na Je-Hui and Oh Gyeong-Su. Their dynamic was really cute and fun to watch. It was worth it to watch and it made me stay until the end.
Anyway, its a 6.5/10. I wouldnt watch again but If you dont have anything else to do I guess You can give it a try.
Rei Dec 23 2021 1:49 pm Idk if it's likely but I would love a season 2 more on K. Kim Hye Jun did such a good job portraying her, a full on girl crush and an amazing antagonist. Both Koo and K seemed like the protagonist and antagonist at times so I was pretty sad about K's ending and Gun uk's ending.
Overall, this was by far the most refreshing crime series mainly because of the fact that we have a 'vigilante' that they're trying to track down instead of your usual morally bad serial killer, and the way the director and behind the scenes team filmed/edited this. Well done to all of them.

Abc Dec 17 2021 11:24 am (SPOILERS) I love this show but I am sad about K’s ending, she is crazy all right but i liked her. It’s the most likeable bad guy. I really like that they didn’t make the bad guy the pure evil like in many other kdrama ( it’s so often so unnecessary) and also that it was not a corruption story ( really! ). I love that it was about two women and they didn’t make them appear like “what a woman should look like”. So refreshing. But still sad about K s ending, I don’t think they had to make her so insane at the end, they could have use her to solve some cases she is so smart.

JJ Dec 13 2021 5:35 pm Love that the 2 main characters are female, different age but very similar in IQ and character, ie slightly on the spectrum. Inspec K reminds me of cartoon Inspector Gogo Gadget with her mac, her nine lives, her caring nature to friend and gamers, her distracted professor style. She very endearing. No wonder Santa + Seongu want to stay with her. Feel sorry for her that she lost her husband, couldn't clear his name. K on the other hand has got no moral conscience: it's OK to kill baddies and does that in an ingenious way. She's not kind or nice to her buddy, lies to her auntie which cost her auntie's life! I did feel sorry for her when Ms Song locked her up but otherwise no. Both acted brilliantly! Well done actors, writers, music, etc

Pink blossom Dec 13 2021 1:07 am One of the best drama of 2021. First few episodes were slow and draggy but it gets better. The casts are superb, especially lee young ae and kim hye jun. I’m a rationalist and hate all forms of crime committed by villains for whatever the reason. But K character as psychopath here is well written and well portrayed even someone like me can’t help but fall for her. And that’s how psychopaths in real life act, make them fall for you.

Some Kdramas with Netflix have awful sound tracks, but this background music, the plot, the cast of characters keeps my interest. In the first episodes, they showed a dark spirit take over K, which is a common With those films about possession. With only 12 episodes, Inspector Koo is finding some balance in her character. I love Santa ! His name means “Saint” in Spanish, so maybe he’ll be a good spirit. That actor was also in a bite size drama on Rakuten Viki, Now we are Thirty ( or something like this). Looking forward to the finale.

Lee Dec 11 2021 7:04 am Just finished ep.1, but IMHO, not that appealing for me to 'chase' this kdrama. Although the plot & characters somewhat differs from the usual cookie-cutter storylines which are fast becoming stale & a great yawn, the female lead, Lee Young Ae, seems kinda uncomfortable in this role. I'm just not feeling her character here, unlike her previous role as 'Saimdang'. In this drama, she's neither comical nor convincing as Inspector Koo. I'm watching this as there are some actions going on & at the same time, no other more appealing kdramas; certainly not the slow-moving & boring 'Now we are breaking up'. Even Song Hye Kyo can't bring much life to the movie?? Recently, the scriptwriters in Kdrama land seem to be churning out more boring run-of-the-mill stuff or having writer's block.

So far it's quite enjoyable & funny how they solved the mystery but K's voice irritates me sometimes esp when she screams or laughs. And it kinda annoying to me every time male with male romantic scenes appear

This drama made its own with women leading the investigation and women being the major sociopaths. Waiting for the new episodes I am already watching the old episodes over again. A unique story with unique characters.

gina Dec 05 2021 6:48 pm I really had high hopes for this drama, I still can't forget how much I loved Lee in Daejang geum but her acting has been not so admirable past several years, in this one she over acts like an amateur would, very disappointing. The story line is good & entertainin but Lee is not a good pick.

I am a crime/ psychological thriller fan, so I'm a bit biased on the genre and I don't mind them adding a little comedy on the side because it makes it lighter than what it usually is. Plus, a big factor is, it's a different Lee Young Ae ( which is really refreshing to look at). She mostly look posh, elegant, refined, reserved and modest on her other shows but on this one, she looks carefree physically, though the personality not so. She's also annoyingly smart, kinda rude in a way because of what she had been through... So, yeah, looking forward to how the story will end. Currently on Ep 5.

But here is the thing: every time I really like a drama there are very negative and very positive reviews, you hate it or you love it.( And drama with only positive reviews are usually not so good, kind of okay but not really worth it.) So don’t let bad reviews stop you from watching this. Also it’s nice to see a thriller with women as main characters, very refreshing.

The directer does really has a good taste, he collaps between old style comedy with the investigation. Just chill and watch it, you will experienced the new atmosphere

Its unfair to Young-ae, Hae sook and Sun-young to be casted in this film. Netflix should drop this one. Red Sleeve & Dali are far better for Netflix than this.

Indeed there are some theatrical scenes which makes me want to watch more of it. Kinda feel bad for K's character. So far its a great show to watch!

The characters were running in one place, then suddenly running somewhere else, and then flash back and then flash forward and then switch character and switch back. Needs a new director. It put me off watching any more.

The lead detective have found her rival and story get faster and interesting story telling. This is not bad at all . High IQ psycho teenage girl merderer V.S. old school woman detective, i never seen this kind of plot before.

SPOILER !! episode 2 reminds me of episode 5 in mouse, where they connect murders into children stories. i think inspector koo was going after that plot? seeing k have a wholeass shelf for the story books, i guess she killed tons of people already. also, i wish that santa isn't the bad guy that i think he is.
good job! i really like k's character, hye-jun is an effective actress. as i saw kim hae sook in the cast, im already expecting much with this drama, hope it won't disappoint.

Most show she comes in she nailed her character. It's going to be a cat and mouse, who is smarter than whom. K is vicious, smart and really evil. Yet she loves her Aunt so dearly. (Psycho). Kyung yi just want to find the truth about her husband. It's so good. Ps. Love Kwak sun young. Love her in Encounter and Hospital Playlist and so much more. Very underrated actress. And of course the veteran Ms. Kim Hae Sook. Say no more. I'm so in.

It somehow reminds me of Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (another Lee Young Ae's movie) and Tarantino's films... It not saying it is as good as those... But the editings somehow gave me a similar vibe
Some critica used to say... You can know if a film will be good one judging by it's opening first shot... And for me, the opening shot is quite good for a kdrama
Jtbc just us an arthouse drama with Lost... And now another good drama with Inspector Koo... But yea... It is only the beginning... Let's see how it goes... If it goes well, this will go down as one of the best
