Jin Jinbo (Kei Tanaka) is a DNA expert. He works as an associate professor of genome analysis laboratory at a medical school. A murder case takes place in Tokyo. The murderer left an 'X' mark on the dead body. Detective Genji Ando (Ken Yasuda) is excluded from the murder investigation, because of a high probability that his wife was murdered by the same person. The investigation headquarters secretly reaches out to Jin Jinbo for help.

- Based on manga series "Rasen no Meikyu: Idenshi Sosa" by Midori Natsu and illustrated by Hiroyuki Kikuta (published from May, 2012 to September, 2015 in magazine Big Comic Zokango).
- "Helical Labyrinth" was originally scheduled to air from April, 2020, but the Covid-19 outbreak caused filming to be postponed. Filming for the drama series resumed June, 2021.
- Theme song is "Stay Gold" by BTS.

Lala Nov 26 2021 7:45 pm story about investigation with my fav actor Tanaka Kei and the theme song by my fav artist BTS and TXT????!!! gosh I can't even explain how happy I am!!! so far the story is well execute... there's a few things that doesn't really make sense in the drama to me but it's not overwhelming so I can ignore that.. I can't believe japanese drama is the one that united BTS and TXT as hoobaes and sunbaes by doing ost together XD as always Kei is adorable as Jinbo ^_^ can't wait for the last episodes!!
