Minato Shindo (Kento Yamazaki) has savant syndrome. His memory is amazing, but he has difficulty communicating with other people.

When Minato Shindo was little, he dreamed of becoming a doctor. He met Doctor Akira Shiga and he wanted to become a paediatric surgeon. Akira Shiga was surprised by the 7-year-old's memory of the human organs and he decided to support Minato Shindo in achieving his dream. Eventually, Minato Shindo graduated from medical school and passed the national exam for medical practitioners.

Now, Akira Shiga works as a director at a large hospital. He suggests to Minato Shindo to work in the pediatric surgery department at the hospital where he works.

I cry easly and theese stories made me crying. The only thing I did not like was that in the begining they treated Dr. Shindo very bad using violence making him fall and get hurt and that was a doctor . very bad actitude. In Europe you can not do that at all.

Anyway, congratulation for Kento and Juri for winning Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress in 98th Television Drama Academy Awards. As for Kento, his outstanding portrayal of Shindo Minato made him No. 1 in all three voter groups (viewers, TV journalists and special judges groups).

Lastly, if you like a simple beautiful heartwarming slice of life J-dorama, you will love this version ♥

Am I the only one who noticed that in this drama seem like they make kento's brother love him so much. (Not compare to the Kdrama, if you have watched it already) though they did not add the bunny part because I think his brother dying and protecting him as his very last breath is convincing enough. Japan are really the best to this kind of drama. Additional to the best medical movies like Doctor X and Code Blue. Clap, clap!

They successfully make their own version. Less drama and more emotional. I love the casts and their acting. They also deliver the storyline beautifully. Maybe because the genre is close to existing Jdrama.

It's ridiculous how anyone would say that anyone in this drama had performed badly. And as far as adaptations of Good Doctor goes, this jdrama did pretty well to the spirit of the original. Much better than the US adaptation which I still felt that it's lacking the spirit of what made Park Sion/Shindo Minato's character an endearing one.

AKARI Aug 03 2018 7:11 am Congratulation Good Doctor for two digits rating for FujiTV 木10 in 4 consecutive weeks for the first time in 4 years!!!.

All main casts, all guest stars (parents and children roles), all of them are amazing! Even Miura Haruma and Ai Otsuka praise the casts (esp Kento and Juri acting skills).

According to the correlation chart, Shindo Sensei (Kento) loves Natsumi Sensei (Juri), but Natsumi Sensei only think of him as lil'bro, so im still wondering if they will be a lover like the original Kdrama. Imo the Japanese ver will focusing more into Shindo's social development as a doctor with ASD and Savant synd, also patient-parent emotion sides (at least thats what i saw from ep 1-4).

And....about Kento's acting skills, if you read on twitter, many parents/social workers with ASD child said that Kento's acting and gesture is spot on and so genuine (please remember that autism symptoms are different in every person, and Kento, with the help of the medical supervisors, producer and director choose this kind of autism).

Fyi, this dorama have medical supervisors (medical professors for the medical sides and psychiatrist for ASD sides, he worked with ATARU before), so i believe that everything we see so far on screen already approved by them (one of the supervisor said in one of interview, that he often changed the medical term dialogue into another difficult term, but Kento, Juri and Naohito always did it smoothly).

So...if the experts already say ok, i cant say otherwise ?

I'm a huge Yamaken fan, even though I'm much older than him.

Though I was drawn initially by his handsome face, I could feel from his projects his intense talent.

Say what you will about how he gets all the pretty face live action shoujo roles.

The beautiful face is just a bonus on his excellent acting. Just give it a watch if you don't believe it.

Kamp Jul 15 2018 11:16 am I don't understand why most Japanese dramas are awful. Japanese movies are one of the best in the world. It's frustrating. 8 to 10 episodes is normal but unrealistic. I feel like watching a compressed version of the Korean one.

I had to check to see if the lead I'm seeing on the poster is really my Kento. And wah! It really is him. He's working real hard to move away from his school boy roles. If you follow jdrama or movie news you will know that he isn't everywhere. I am glad in 2018 kento focus in drama with different role *please no high school role anymore ?

Tbh, I had low expectations about this drama but after watch the 1st episode wow Kento acting si so good, even japanese netizen shock with his acting in this drama *sobs*. Of course the supporting casts, writer and director plays important role for this drama.

Please prepare tissu before watch this drama guys

coco Jul 13 2018 11:33 pm OMG, no one in Japan get tired with him already? I mean he's good actor indeed, but doesn't mean there are no young good male actor anymore in Japan right? For For two seasons (Winter and Spring), and then Summer, he appeared on several dramas. I think he got several roles on movie as well. Agency can be so mean, sometimes the only pour all their attention to their 'golden child' whereas they already have a handful of actors. They suck the actor until it dried instead of maintaining them to stay green and glowing.

Directors to cast him in their dramas/movies, the actual reason he is casted by directors. He works hard and directors know his talents. That's why Kento get important roles to play as his job

I watched Good Doctor KR version twice, Yep I'm a huge fan of Joowon and Good Doctor is one of his significant characters.

I know Kento will do a great job, Not because he is just a pretty face but that guy works hard that's why he get all these offers.

Frederick Highmore was really good as well w/ the US version though their attack with the drama was quite different since they have different audiences in the US. Sukina Hito ga Iru Koto is one of the best drama out there. Go watch it if you haven't.

Kento is good on manga adaptations but i doubt he can deliver on this.

I've watched his last drama Kiss that Kills and his annoying and I can't sympathize w/ his character.
