Cha Young-Min (Rain) is a genius doctor, but he is arrogant and selfish. One day, he gets involved in an unexpected case. Due to the unexpected case, his spirit possesses another doctor's body. These two doctors are complete opposites, with opposite personalities and medical abilities.

thepianorockstar Dec 22 2025 6:39 pm I like this series! I binged watch it for I got hooked. It was interesting, though some scenes took time, but I think they maximized the 16 episodes well and answered a lot of questions viewers could have. They explained each character's back story, and even had a closure. I also watched the behind the scenes in YouTube, it was also interesting to see them work. They were all very professional, and they way the actors collaborate with the director and the other actors to do the scenes. The director too was very encouraging and natural. Overall, it looked like a positive and fun set.
I hope they could have a second season! The tandem of Kim Beom and Rain are good, and everyone in the cast are great as well. I do not know how to have a second season though, for it already concluded, but maybe, what if they get to learn from a different doctor from a different field? I was also hoping if there could be a second season, Dr. Ahn (Ko Sang Ho) could return and do good after serving his sentence. Ko Sang Ho is also a good actor. I can't believe he was the character who sings and scams elders in Taxi Driver Season 2. You have to watch him there too!

But the only problem is that I am focusing on his acting and his voice and missing out on the story not reading the subtitles, lol , well thank God for rewinds , so far it’s just great , to me my Rain whom I love , could just stand and read hospitals signs , it will be okay with me , lol , also I , always loved Kim Beom’s smile and dimples . I’m glad this drama had a high ratings , we need season two Great drama ,

Park Min Sep 16 2023 8:45 am A very strong contender for the worst medical drama. The equivalent of filming two patients' beds and calling it a "hospital". From the very beginning they did such a poor job in setting building that it's constantly sticking out in your face. To give a few examples: The hospital is completely dependent on a single skillful witch doctor that otherwise everyone would be dead without his witchcraft which eliminated any hierarchy in the hospital. The hospital had no rules, anyone can come and go as they please, anyone can get a patient into the operation room and perform a surgery and no one faces consequences to anything they do because writing such scenes would take more effort. The hospital management is non-existent, there's only one guy in charge (the bad guy Tae In Ho) with no one around him or beside him managing the hospital. Even worse, the actor is known for his side roles as a subordinate character so giving him a position in charge while lacking any intimidation and gravity to his character has ruined the role and killed the little tension the drama had. There are more examples to this lackluster hospital setting but these were the most obvious.
However, if you managed to over glance the entire setting and just hyper focus on the main 2 leads then the drama is alright. The 2 main leads first encounter and the first episode had an abhorrent and despicable dynamic to watch on screen but, to my surprise, it got a lot better later on and turned out to be fun which was the only reason that saved the drama and made it watchable.

I honestly didnt expect it to be that good but i enjoyed the story and the chemistry between Dr. Cha and Dr. Kho. The ending was beautiful to they included the story of every character. I was sad towards the end because I’m gonna miss watching this drama.
kellie Oct 22 2022 5:00 am Too bad this script doesn't have the quality this writer's first one did (Live Up to Your Name). My interest died about halfway through. The ratings reflected that. There was a 2% drop from Ep. 8 to Ep. 9. The story was just going around in circles. It was crying out for some tutorial sessions between the brilliant surgeon and his mentee. Teach the guy something, make him a real doctor -- that's the obvious way to go. Not obvious enough, I guess.
It's a little bit UNSATISFYING towards the END Oct 06 2022 4:55 pm I wish the writers could have done more with the ending.. All the pending problems are all solved in the last episode. There is not enough time for extra scenes. I think the problem lies in the writing. All the actors did great but there's something missing. All the important scenes lack of something. The emotions are not properly delivered. Maybe it's also because of the directing? It's Unsatisfying ....

Erin Jul 06 2022 12:33 am Rain is back! I used to watch him as a singer and dancer back in the day. Although this is the first I have seen of him in a Drama. So glad I did! The storyline is great and each episode gets better. The chemistry between to leads is truly authentic and feels like a true. Bromance. It has the right mixture of drama, comedy, twists, and romance. Definitely a show that keeps you wanting more.

I really like the Cha Young Min and Ko Seung Tak duo. They give justice is their character. I watched this drama for Na-eun (Oh Soo Jeong) but I fell in love to Kibum's character more. I find their relationship also cute! The first drama of Na-eun that I really liked and didn't find boring. The other characters carried this drama too, all of the cast are awesome.
The fantasy, and medical problems are enough to keep the thrill and you anticipating on what will happen on the next episodes. The flow of the story is not fast, but also not slow. Though I think the last episode is sort of rush? I personally want more scene of Cha Young Min scaring Han Seung Won alive rather than a coma ghost. But overall it's an amazing drama and worth to watch.
I'll give this a 10/10! It's recommendable, you should watch it~

However, I have to admit that I adore me some Rain the delivery of "whispering dialogue" was soooo annoying:(. And his love interest Se-jin...(Uee) gave me no eyes of emotion with her memorized script tempo. But soooo cute is Seung-tak & Suzy <3 <3

In addition, after many years of watching Sung Dong-II in countless dramas, it was especially enjoyable watching him portray such an endearing character ~ very moving!
This drama is a definite worthwhile watch.

There's soojung character whose English name is crystal too.. Lol The last.. I cried hard when soojung's grandpa gave her chocolate cake. Idk why but this scene is so touching for me ㅠㅠ

Unpopular Opinion: Only Seung-Tak's father & Oh Soo-Jung know that Prof Oh Joo-Myung operated Seung-Tak (child). So if Seung-Tak know about it, he did remember everthing what he had experienced as a ghost

Love Feb 24 2022 12:07 am I like this drama so much. It's very entertaining. No stress while watching the drama. I also like the story from the beginning to the end. It begins and ends perfectly. (I actually hope that the motorcyclist would report the crime to the police, but on the other hand I also feel bad for his sister...)
Kim Beom is my number one reason why I watch this, but after I watch it, I find many interesting things. The storyline is good and intriguing, especially at the first several episodes. Rain, coma ghosts, the patients, the doctors are very comedic. And Kim Jae Yong is also handsome!
There are many fun comedy scenes, but the sad scenes also make me cry successfully. I love the way they portray Soojung's relationship with her mom, the past of Go Seungtak, Cha Youngmin, Tes, as well as the background story of the coma ghosts... I think all of them make the drama balanced.
I also like how the story unfold. It makes the viewers curious about what will happen in the next episode. After episode 5, I re-watch episode 1 to 5 all over again and it feels more funny.
Andddd I really appreciate that they don't push any kiss scene in this drama. The love stories are natural and excitingly romantic. I think the innocent romance goes well in this drama. It might be more comfortable for the actors too.
Good job for all the crews and writers of this drama. The stylist, too! They make Kim Beom look very cute and different with his previous roles.

I liked the story and all of the side characters only added the best to the content. I can’t think of one thing I would change with it.

Its not focus on the plot itself or any twist that most people would want to have in a series but it is more on the lessons that even an ordinary people can learn from it. It can be in a different field of work. As long as you value life and your will to do something even you think its impossible will become possible as long as you believe it. I just want to share how beautiful this drama is.

kdrama lover Feb 23 2022 12:46 am Just a perfect combination of medical, mystery, heart warming, touching and funny drama! Love the bond between Cha Young Min (Rain) and Go Seung Tak (Kim Beom). I notice there are some new actors involved, but they all nailed it! This drama shows many operating scenes (just like Romantic Doctor Teacher Kim). I'm not a medical student which means i don't understand what medical terms they use so i really enjoyed it. Eventho there are some points that just don't make sense like how can be a first resident lead a big operating case (is it because he's the grandson of the chairman?). Oh well, don't think too much about it, as it's just a drama lol Hope there will be season 2 tho <3

I actually enjoyed first few episodes and wrote about it as well and i knew of these errors in plotline right from start but chose to overlook as i enjoyed the show. But as it always happens in almost 99pc fantasy shows that since they have to be 16 episodes long, the story gets stretched with tonnes of filler scenes and show loses steam and the flaws that you ignored early on start getting to you, unless ofcourse writers do some special effort to make story extremely engaging even till last moment. In GD too around ep 8-9 the drama started to become boring.
Aside from that i was seriously irritated by a very unethical protrayal of treating surgeries as a joke. I know ppl in medical field as well i had to deal with specialists in past years due to some volunteer work which actually helpd me gain insight into hospital workings. There are things that could be portrayed casually but there are things that should'nt be done the way drama did like seniors throwing complex surgeries at a resident who hasn't yet put a single cut on a patient in his career. In past i had seen some medical dramas they also helped in dealing with doctors ,at the same time lot of misconceptions are shown in dramas and when i went to hospitals i had same images of dramas and expected similar stuff but lot of things worked differently and then i realized how tv shows build incorrect stereotypes.Dramas consciously and uncosciously make us think a certain way, so if it is a show on an important field that effects human lives deeply such as medical then such incorrect portrayals should not be done. Lots of people watching may not have noticed things i pointed out, even though they are pretty basic things, and could go to a hospital expecting its normal for their relative to be treated by an inexperienced person, so drama writers should not make light of such serious things and educate people correctly. Also someone mentioned show being fictional then its only fantasy part which is fictional, medical portion is shown as real life medical stuff and surgeries.
As of female resident i just hated the hitting and strongly hitting a colleague part, i did not find it funny, it is something that many kdramas do glorifying female women hitting men but here she was on another level being a doctor hitting someone and hitting violently under the excuse he owes her a favor and that too multiple times and at a hospital. Women physically hitting men they are dating was pretty much normalized in korean society by film my sassy girl.
I too love kim beom and enjoyed it because of him he does bring a lot of joy.

Claire Feb 22 2022 2:40 am @Be serious now I agree with what you said. Call me a nit-picky wet blanket or party pooper but I think this is a valid point though. I wish they didn’t promote it as a medical drama when they’re going to go half-assed on the medical aspect and not research on how physician heirarchy works. One of my biggest gripes here is that the hierarchy among doctors here seems to be all messed up lol. That hierarchy can be toxic and a potential source of abuse of power but it exists irl. Which is why it doesn’t make sense that they just push an unexperienced and fumbling 1st year resident to be the main surgeon in complex cardiothoracic cases, on a colleague’s emergency surgery at that. In my country, 1st year surgery residents never get to be the main surgeon except maybe for uncomplicated appendectomy cases (and this is for low budget, understaffed public hospitals, private hospitals are waaaay more strict). For every patient, an attending physician/specialist and/or a senior resident’s name is attached to every order/action the junior resident or intern does. So if anything goes wrong with the juniors, the seniors will be held liable as well. So yeah, that part is nonsense for me, knowing that if Seungtak messed up, his seniors will go down with him as well.
Also, the 2nd FL seems to break this hierarchy as well. Irl she would never get away with the way she talks back to her seniors without some backlash from fellow doctors, juniors and seniors alike. But sure, let her talk back to make her look “cOoL” since she’s a main character even if she’s just an intern lmao. The hitting thing was annoying but I think it’s more to appeal on the comedy side of the drama and Koreans seem to think it’s cute and is seen a sign of tsundere affection when the girl hits the guy. I don’t think it’s supposed to be serious but yeah, it’s annoying since technically he was her senior, sure they are close friends but out of respect maybe she can stop hitting him at work, his co-residents must be laughing at him for being bossed around by an intern
That being said, yeah, it’s not the best drama out there but it’s entertaining enough. I just had to turn a blind eye over some cringey unrealistic aspects (not talking about the fantasy part) but I guess I’m just picky since I’m in the medical field. I was close to dropping this drama at some points but Kim Bum just pulls me back. Seungtak can be annoying at times but KB’s acting is superb, he’s carrying the whole show. He had such good chemistry with Rain, their dynamic is what made me stay. Warming up to the Youngmin and Sejin relationship too. Not expecting a perfect last episode later but I hope they surprise us. Will be missing KB again.

So seungtak cannot operate because when he tried to cut open the corpse in their anatomy class, the spirit showed up behind him, right? The thing here is, the spirit will descend or go to afterlife once their body died right? And as far as i know, all the ghosts in the drama were coma ghosts thats why they were still lingering around near their comatose bodies. The chairman also disappeared when the life support machines were removed. So why would seung tak was traumatized during that anatomy class? Was it a plot hole or nah?

Be serious now Feb 18 2022 10:45 pm What is essentially wrong with this drama as a medical drama is ,and it is a very in your face flaw, that on one hand it is a big extremely well reputed hospital catering to elite and common both but if you notice in beginning episodes they keep telling kim beoms character to go and perform major surgeries or assigning him surgeries in nonserious kidding manner. All of this is done either to test his skills or to challenge him into doing something, sometimes just to punish him and most times so that he will botch up surgeries to oust him. Each time they pushed him into OR was like senior docs are playing gambling; a success then good, a failure oh then bad. The drama made surgeries look like a joke and childs play, hey you on left bench go do this surgery or hey you on front row go do surgery or hey you in red pants do the surgery,you need no skills except ability to wear OR gear. And mostly it was done so he will ruin the surgery and will be kicked with no value given to patients life ,bills he is paying and their family. If he dies who cares!!!. Seriously in which professional hospital it happens that a mere first year resident with no prior surgery experience is told to perform complex surgeries? It is not only unprofessional but extremely unethical as well. Only third class hospitals do this and they too will shut down for malpractice. I totally lost interest on this point,like senior doctors and deputy director are so casual about patients snd their guardians. In actuality patients family members will shake the bricks of such hospital.
Second thing now. Okay firstly i have faced lot of sexism and i cant stand any sexist stuff against women but at the same time i dont even tolerate it against men too. What i never understood why that 2nd fl is always asssulting and violently hitting oh seung tak? What if genders were reversed and it was seung tak hitting her like this jokingly? Imagine the anger. Dramas should not justify violence against any gender and specially at workplaces.

Even though it does have a lot of surgical scenes, none of those go in-depth. It seems to me to be more of a romance with misunderstanding then get back together type of drama rather than a "medical" one.

This is a fantastical rom-com so be in it for the fun. However, besides the fun there is also the dramatic side/mystery to it which makes it more rounded. I've personally never really watched Rain perform (I knew he existed and was very popular, especially at a certain period in the past) but he surprised me with his charisma and expressiveness. I think he did a pretty good job in this drama.
Kim Beom I knew of and liked since BOF days. Last year I watched Ninetailed Fox and liked his character Lee Rang, and a few other shows he did was pretty cool and showcased how versatile he is as an actor. I think we can see a very different side of Kim Beom in this drama which added to the spectrum of characters that he can portray.
I think a lot of people don't take kindly to fantasy/rom-com dramas and often find the plot too fantastical, and can't wrap their minds around it which results in terrible reviews saying it's not believable or the plot is lackluster (which I have seen in the review sections of many dramas with fantasy element to them). But I appreciate a good fun fantasy drama that explores a different kind of story telling. Personally this show is a breath of fresh air and I am hooked onto it.
The main winner for me in this drama is the chemistry between Rain and Kim Beom which was fantastic, smooth and fun to watch! The bromance here definitely shines brighter than the two males with their female love interests.
I love Ko Seung Tak's character a lot, he is very endearing and kind. He shows two sides to himself and the little detailed things that his character does throughout the show definitely sets him as a pure-hearted, empathetic character. However, one qualm with it was that I am upset at how underappreciated him as a character is in the story. His major role in touching all the other character's lives / relationship was severely unaddressed by his fellow characters. This made me really emotional and frustrated so far (episode 12) and leaves a sort of distaste in my mouth.
I'll see the last 4 episodes as to how Seung Tak and the other characters turn out, hopefully they will be able to round things off nicely and leave a feel-good ending, which I thoroughly expect out of a drama with the comedy label on it.

The heartfelt loss and longing between CYM and JSJ with the romantic setting by the lake is beautiful. Their relationship that has been sidelined is coming into focus n I'm shipping them! Rain and Uee showed their acting chops in managing this roller-coaster ride traversing between the living and the supernatural. Storyline is similar to "Ghost" with many wishes that remain unfulfilled by the dead. This episode also draws an important message that sometimes our loved ones will be taken away suddenly. Seung- Tak took immediate action to tell Se Jin the truth. Kim Bum is a versatile actor and his message in all seriousness is so on point! Wish the drama can be extended as the plot and characters are getting more interesting!

fluta Feb 09 2022 9:06 pm this is a very less than average drama, good for some background noise or if you are a ten year old. there is nothing engaging about the story, characters, acting, dialogue. rain and uee fans be happy to see them on the screen. didnt realise kim beom is quite short, very distracting when obviously they kept standing him a few paces from rain or uee, so as to not show off his lack of height.

But storywise, it is interesting though there's many aspect that I don't connect with. The only thing interesting is plot, and Kim Bum's acting. The plot itself is good but the script/the writing, I feel like it could be much better than this.
Also, idk about everyone else but am I the only one who can't feel the emotion in Uee's acting? I don't know if it's her character or her acting but I feel like most of the times she's showing emotionless poker face and stiff. The only moment where she was showing emotion were the past dates with CYM.
As much as I love Naeun, her acting was good. Not that amazing, but still decent. Kim Bum's was spectacular. but I can't connect with Rain's, sometimes I feel like he's good, sometimes I think he overacts.

As of rain i never found him a great actor in past dramas specially sketch but he does put in a lot of effort in acting just that it does not click with most viewers. In ghost doc his acting has improved a lot and one can see him putting in lot of effort in his performance but still something fails to connect it with me , i think the reason is his face always has single expression even though his voice tone and delivery are great, also he always has a very arrogant and cold expression in eyes where viewers fail to connect with him. I think director is doing good job. Uee is not enjoyable i agree.
@jett in fantasy show there is never consistency regarding the rules shown like you mentioned. As of noone noticing doors opening and clothes moving i think when ghosts teach rain how to hold things etc it was subtly explained that in their realm they will be moving touching things but for humans they will be static. Obv its only in a drama in real life i have heard when paranormal incidents happen people see things flying, moving etc.

Rain was much better in, "Welcome 2 Life," and "Sketch." I also like Kim Beom--his best was, "Padam Padam." Uee's all time best was, "Marriage Contract," I loved her in that. So all three of these talented actors must be missing the mark because of the director.

Like sometimes he can touch things (his clothes on ep.5) while other times he cant touch some tools or some things he wanted to grab/touch. So weird in ep 5 where he was meddling with his clothes, obviously the clothes are moving and yet the real human beside where he was cant see that its moving? bcs obv if she did see the moving clothes it would freak her out..
then.. isnt he supposed to be able to go through walls and doors..cus hes a ghost.. and yet..he still opens and closes doors.. and at times when he (Rain as the ghost) opens a door , real humans are oblivious to it.. (and cant see the door opens/closes by itself)???? what.. i dont get it..

Kim Bum is a great actor as usual, delivering a comical but with depth character. I actually started this show for him, loved him in TOTNT and Law School.
Uee is one of those few idols turned actors that is actually good at acting but I would agree to some comments here that this isn’t Uee’s best performance or it may just be her character idk.
Son Naeun indeed improved (from her Cinderella & 4 Knights terrible acting) but I think it’s still a far cry to call her amazing. Idk but half of her face always looks so stiff to me.
Sung Dong Il is Sung Dong Il, he never disappoints.
I’m debating if I should drop this or continue watching (I’m at EP 4). There are times where the story feels flat to me. Also as a doctor, there are certain elements (hospital life/workforce dynamics) in the show that is very unlikely to happen or is inaccurate and it ticks me off so bad I want to drop it. I’m still holding on only for Youngmin and Seungtak’s relationship, it’s such a delight to watch.

Don't forget that "Oh Soo-Jung" (Ko Seung Tak childhood friend) may be Tess's grand-daughter. Tess hit her mentor with broom when Soo Jung got scolded.
Moreover, Seung Tak grand-pa also looked at Soo Jung as if he knew her and reminded him her granpa. (In my opinion) ?

Rains acting is so great, the body language of a dancer came out also. Kimbum with flower and bright face catch the attention. Love them. Uee is also pretty and body goal!

I haven't watch this drama and not very much interested lol idk why but after seeing there's Uee (I terribly miss her) and Naeun and Sung Dung-Il I might reconsider but after seeing some comments below I'll really reconsider again hahhahaha. I hope it's worth my time!

Woosanred Jan 17 2022 4:18 pm Ghost Doctor is such a gem! I thought it's pure comedy at first, but nah, it's a story of family, friendship, love, courage, hope and LIFE. I enjoy it! A good stress-reliever every Monday and Tuesday.
And I just have to say that I can't ask for a better paid than KIM BUM AND RAIN! They act so well together! Rain is so versatile and this role matches him perfectly and Kim Bum is such a sweetheart. I still cant fully grasp the importance of UEE and NaEun's roles, but I know we'll get there in the next few episodes.

Anyway I do wonder why Soojung (Naeun) was called Crystal by Seongtaek? Is it because she shared the same first name with Krystal F(x)? Jung Soojung? Hahaha

I never been so excited in my life for a tv show this way. Right now i finished episode 4 and i don't know what to do till next week. The Acting Is Amazing. Kim Bun Killed This. He and Rain are dynamical duo. I'm wondering how all this will work out, also I'm happy they are showing background story. For me this drama deserves higher ratings definitely i hope more people will start to watch this masterpiece. Believe me the acting is from another world.
AllieK Jan 12 2022 11:16 am Just a great watch! I have really enjoyed seeing how Rain has evolved in his career and of course KB. They are doing so well together and events are pretty unpredictable until you get right up to them. I's a nice break from all the serious and sometimes scary shows and I found myself laughing and feeling sad which is a good barometer for me as to how much I enjoy the show. I don't comment usually, but felt more positive comments well encourage more people to watch. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Serafina Jan 12 2022 8:35 am I didn't really like KB's character, Ko Seung Tak in the 1st 2 eps, but now the story is building up and unravelling the reason why he behaves like an ignorant & fumbling fool at times. This is more of a comedy than a serious medical kdrama, but it's fun to watch. Rain is a competent actor who can do comedic roles well too. A good change from the scary or slow-moving movies like Hellbound & The Silent Sea. I'm really chasing the next episode of TGD now.

kdrama fan Jan 11 2022 11:47 am I'm laughing out loud that anyone would come to a medical show about a doctor being possessed by the spirit of another doctor thinking it would bear any resemblance to Hospital Playlist. Also people hating on Rain doesn't seem to get that this is a comedy of sorts.

This drama is just like any other medical drama with power struggle issues, like 'life' and 'heart surgeon' but with a twist. So far i like it, its funny.
Teeka Jan 11 2022 7:44 am If you expect Ghost Doctor to be a medical drama like Hospital Playlist (since they filmed on HP/ Yulje set), you will be disappointed, like me. There are lots of details just don't feel right, especially its medical details (competency of intern, resident, vs attending physician, decision making, etc). After watching 2 episodes, I conclude that it is a drama with dramatic style (intrigue, exagregating act).. medical theme is just a background, with some inaccuracies. Anyway, love to watch Rain. He suits well as cool-serious-doctor. Also Sung Dong-Il.. love his role!

When I finished watching episode 2, I think I won't be only watching this for Bum but also for Naeun. Both of them carried this drama overall. Rain's acting bothers me so much (maybe bcs it's only my first time watching him act) but I can't really suit myself to watch someone who overacts,,, I'll consider since it's only the first two episodes and he's really funny. For Naeun, I really love her chemistry with Bum and her acting is superb!! Hoping the plot won't be boring as it goes by.

I just bothered by how the the story flow, seeing too much main characters in the scenes makes the drama less interesting for me. You can see how close and fun every each characters in high rating drama, they work amazing together and we can feel it too. I hope the best for Rain Ahjussi comeback drama (｡’▽’｡)♡

I suggest you watch it, I just finished episode 1 and it's really good especially when you like Medical dramas.
