10 years has passed since the confrontation between Kira and L. Again, Shinigami sends death notes to the ground and due to this, the world soon falls into chaos. Tsukuru (Masahiro Higashide) is a member of the Death Note special task force team with 6 other investigators including Matsuda who experienced the Kira case of 10 years ago.
Mass murders caused by the death note takes place on Wall Street in the U.S., Shibuya in Japan and other places. World famous private investigator Ryuzaki (Sosuke Ikematsu), who is the rightful successor of L, also investigates the mass murders. They discover that 6 death notes exists in the world.
A computer virus called Kira spreads in the world. A message in the Kira virus says to turn in 6 death notes.
A person who has 6 death notes overwhelm the world. The confrontation begins between the person who wants Kira’s revival and the people who want to stop it.

amis Sep 02 2018 10:17 am I read the manga when it first came out and personally think that it's one of the best manga out there. This movie is not bad on its own merits (like the ones before it), if one does not compare it to the source material.
What I didn't like was Higashide Masahiro's acting, which was yawn-inducing. What I liked was Amane Misa, and Toda Erika's understated portrayal of her deep love for Light. It was touching in a way that even the original Misa's wasn't.

It ended up inflaming my love for intricate battles of wits and cat-and-mouse shenanigans, all mixed up with some of the most iconic characters in the medium. Love It!

I'm in love with Masaki Suda's acting but it's Masahiro Higashide's expression that still haunting me until now \>o</

I'm so excited for this because Erika Toda is back as Amane Misa. The 2015 series was good. It's where I saw the trailer from. With Erika Toda on this and thinking that there are 6 Death Notes (? not sure.), this would be a Death Note battle in a style of Liar Game.

Yes, Light and L has died, and probably Near too because the 'L' title now is being held by Ryuzaki (a new character played by Ikematsu, not the alias used by the Lawliet we knew), unless in the 2006 movie universe Near (a Thai boy) is not L's successor. And one of the protagonists, Tsukuru, is an entirely new character unrelated to Light (his last name is Mishima instead of Yagami or Amane). He's described as "those who inherited the DNA of L and Light" together with Ryuzaki, but I think it is the production team's way to describe their intelligence and passion for justice, which are similar to L and Light's. The teaser shows Fujiwara and Matsuyama because it uses clips from 2006 DN movie. It was aired months ago before the casting even begin, so of course the actors here made no appearances. It simply an announcement that a new DN film is about to be made as a continuation to the 2006 film. Sorry for long explanation.
River Feb 28 2016 12:36 am This doesn't make any sense because the description is talking about a successor to L named "Ryuzaki", although Near is the successor to L, not Ryuzaki, the alias that L went by, and I know L wouldn't be stupid enough to tell other people the name of his associates.... So, is there a completely different storyline in the movies (I've only seen the first one)? And also Light was in the trailer and he died at the end of the story... but I don't understand Japanese so it could have been a flashback.

Panda Sep 26 2015 3:19 pm wth, i watched the 2015 live action drama...L wasn't gay. but the duo personality mello was pissing me off, that voice was annoying, but the drama itself was awesome, mainly because i didn't watch the anime past episode 1 so i had no idea what the story should be so i enjoyed it fully. i wish the guy who played Light Yagami was in this one too, oh well.

The cast of Death note 2015 are good actors, but the characters are too different from what they are on the Manga/Anime. Specially a gay L and a duo personality near and mello -_-. though the Plot is not that bad/
