When Baek Ah-Jin (Kim You-Jung) was little, she endured domestic violence. To survive, she learned to hide her emotions and manipulate others by seeing into their hearts. She is normally generous and kind to people, but she reveals her devilish side if someone angers her or for her own purposes. With her beautiful appearance and her mastered talents, she is now a top actress. She has Yoon Jun-Seo (Kim Young-Dae), who has been by her side all of her life and he is willing to do anything for her. He is the only one who she can rely and feel comfortable with, but, for Baek Ah-Jin, he decides to bring about her downfall.
Meanwhile, Kim Jae-Oh (Kim Do-Hoon) is also a man who has been by Baek Ah-Jin’s side his whole life. He suffered abuse from his father and felt a connection with Baek Ah-Jin. Through her, he found a reason to live. Le-Na (Lee Yul-Eum) is a top actress, who is a former idol. She has feelings for Yoon Jun-Seo.

I think Junseo couldnt love Ahjin the way In gang loved her is because they grew up together and he saw how broken and messed up Ahjin is. Not only Ahjin but he is too. They are both poor children who had to endure their abusive and good-for-nothing parents and it definitely affected their lives negatively as they grow older. So fair to say that this is why he always has this thought that Ahjin is capable of doing such horrible things because he's seen it all. But even with all his doubts and fears towards Ahjin, he still loves her. They are just so toxic for each other because they know and suffered together each other's trauma. On the other hand, Ahjin always wear her mask whenever she is with Ingang so Ingang thought she was this perfect, kindhearted girl. She managed to make him fall for her facade. But once Ahjin revealed her true self to Ingang, he couldnt handle her and just committed suicide right there and then.
I do believe Ahjin really developed affection, if not totally love, for grandma and ingang but she was blaming herself for the death of grandma that is why she tried to hurt ingang and break up with him and get away from him because she couldnt dare to continue to stay with him because the guilt was eating her. She just continued to be bad and crazy because when she tried to make it right, everything went wrong. She doesnt want to be weak and vulnerable again so she had to let go of her feelings for Ingang. But she didnt expect Ingang will kill himself. She just so fckn broken, there is no salvation. Junseo thought he could save her so he made the ultimate decision to expose her wrongdoings, and try to commit double suicide which i think is kinda dumb but i think he just didnt know what else to do to stop her. But no one, even him, ingang, jae oh and the kindhearted part time job boss, couldve possibly save her. i really feel sorry for her. Ahjin and junseo's end was destined to be tragic from the beginning.
I love this drama coz it strayed away from the cliche ones that you always have character development at the end. Here, they all stayed toxic and unredeemable up until the very last episode. Which sometimes is the scenario in real life. Life is never always gonna be perfect and easy for all even if you tried so hard. Sometimes, evil wins. I hope they wont make a season 2 and make Ahjin change for the better. This is already good as it is.

Kim You Jung really outdid herself in this series, wayyyy mature than the others that she starred in. such a versatile young actress. as for the whole series, it was captivating. i was able to finish this quick because i can't wait to know what happens next. it's true what the other comments say that the male leads have such pathetic characters but it didn't really bother me. that's the character they need to portray and i think they nailed it. this series shows how psychopaths think and how they are wired. it's such a refreshing drama because the villain is the lead and honestly while watching, i wasn't sure if it is right to root for her but I did haha. i highly recommend this

It's weird, in the first episodes you get it she's a psycho and will get back to you x1000 if something goes against her. But at some point it's just overdone and feels like poor writting. Like it's not psycho anymore it's just being retarded, no one acts like that.
Kad Jan 06 2026 2:42 pm while it is hard to argue abut how pretty the character Baek Ah jin is and her using that for personal gain, she struck out at people mostly to defend herself. The chacter of Park Ji yoon in "the Glory" was the real psychopath who struck out at people for her own pleasure and was more viscious. Both are beautiful with my nod going to You jung, hojwever i feel the the acting goes to Ji yeon. Anyone agree?

sf Dec 07 2025 11:30 am I hope there will never be a season two. Yoon Jun-Seo and Kim Jae-Oh, two characters who were very frustrating. Two stupid men who helped a demon do what she wanted. But, I must say Kim You-Jung played her character very well, which is why she can be an actress with many awards in 2025. The ending was the same, frustrating.

I thought Le Na and him made a good couple, but he was too busy just kind of lingering. Did he think it was his place to administer justice? I don't feel bad for him at all. Baek Ah Jin, Le Na, and Kim Jae Oh are the ones I really liked. Ah Jin's dad was the biggest POS in this whole drama. Moon Do Hyuk wasn't much better. It was fine to end it like they did. We're left with some unknowns, but it wasn't so terrible for Ah Jin. That's something I was worried about.

She was about to change because of the grandmother. A woman who said, you are still my child. Just like my child, I have to punish you. That is when she felt hope for the first time. When grandmother fell right in front of her, she became hard again. She told her grandson what happened and broke up with him. She's never killed anyone. In her mind, only the strong survive. Watch, guaranteed at the end you will see her break down finally, cry and realize that she was loved by her brother who will have to punish her for her own good.

So for everyone trying to say that the FL is just this way because of her family, no, it is not.
Ahjin has a long pattern of manipulation, lying, and emotional harm , this is exactly the type of behavior described in clinical research on antisocial and callous-unemotional tendencies.
The drama is perfect!

Lauren Nov 14 2025 8:13 pm I Love This So Much!!!! Didn't read the webtoon, but I have a feeling this will end really bad. Like it will be worse than we expect it to be. Also, I really don't get the comments. In the first 10 secs of the 1st ep it says clearly that A-jin has antisocial personality disorder. So she does NOT feel emotions, even when she smiles or cries, she just mimics the emotion she learned by looking at other people. That's what sociopaths do, they manipulate people for their own gain. I'll not be surprised if she kills one way or the other all the people around her.

The way she portrayed BAJ is superb. Viewers can find themselves somehow understand why she is the way she is and still sympathise with her. She is not inherently nasty. And she sees the truth in people, use them they way they want to be used. You wonder why she have she is always on the edge? Everyone in her life has abused her one way or another from her parents, the agent ... she learnt at a very young age that nothing comes for free. If you compare her with Lena. To me, Lena is just so unlikeable. I have always rooted for KYJ. Her face just lits up the camera, she has a megawatt smile. Her chemistry with KYD is really good, finally! You can sense the bond and the complex feelings the two main characters have. KYJ ... you go girl!!!

As a clinical psychologists I'm in awe. Everything about this series is so interesting and so tastefully made. This might top everything this year for me. I applaud all actors playing, they are all perfect for each role. Can't wait for the rest of the episodes.

As for Dear X, the whole story is heartbreaking. It’s so sad to see how this girl keeps repeating abusive patterns in her life. There were so many other ways she could have faced her problems without turning to violence.

One lesson I took away is that not everyone deserves our sympathy or empathy. Sometimes, it’s better to just focus on living our own lives—and not be too arrogant trying to play the hero ? Blanca Trueba Nov 07 2025 6:09 pm Watched the first two episodes and was truly blown away by the acting of Ki So-yu (or Gi So-yoo), the child actress who plays young Ah-jin. I know she's a good actress (watched her since Our Blues, The Good Bad Mother and the recent Confidence Queen), but this Ah-jin character is really on another level. The scene where she blackmailed her stepmother (?) and let herself fall out of the window is intensely insane -- spectacular acting.
Wondering if she received counselling and psychological assistance during the shooting? The character is very, very dark for a child actress her age. Really hoping it won't affect her mentally in real life.

Wut a weirdo. He is definitely an epstein. FL did everything perfect. Put epstein to jail and cut ties with someone problematic before starting a career. If she keep them then this movie would ended up to be a Han So Hee real life story.

As for Kim You Jung, she never disappoints! A truly bestie actress and a gorgeous one.
THIS drama is a tad heavy. .not for those with weak hearts but I love genre like this... gives us insight as to why people behave the way they do.
