Maiko Oct 11 2023 10:19 am Wow. That was a touching movie. Love both Kengo and Yuriko, they had good chemistry. This wasn't the first movie they were together though. They were in another film called Snakes and Earrings, a totally different film from this. The photographer neighbour was also in it. Consider giving it a watch. Anyway, this is totally a must-watch.
This scene when Yonosuke and Sakura (his ex) walk down some stairs after his grandma passes sums it up for me:
Yonosuke: When I die, I wonder if they'll cry for me? Sakura: Hm... Yonosuke: As they remember me... Sakura: Eh... With you, they'll probably remember you and laugh
I wonder if people will remember me when I die as well, and smile and laugh as they do.
Joey Jan 29 2017 11:13 pm Definitely agree with everyone else that it's a hidden gem! I've seen this movie at least three times already and it never fails to make me laugh and cry. (Awesome cast too!)

clarissa Jan 23 2015 4:23 am when the film ended...i started to cry it was like i saw two people who really love each other. Kengo & Shoko....idk why they broke up in the end, there were no clue but i know they still love each other after all those time. This film has a great story & also has a good main character personality. I love people like Yonosuke :') maybe we all did. I wish to become more like him. To help people and open myself more to other. I wanna be a better person. Thank you for creating such beautiful film <3
I recommend you guys watch this film too :)
niwkram1980 Dec 11 2014 2:37 pm I have fallen inlove with shoko (yuriko) and at the same time long for more. Arigato! For making this kind of movie that can really move you. Hope to yuriko in person.
akira43 Oct 29 2014 10:56 am What a great movie...!!! This is the kind of movie that will leave an impact on you, is simple but really well produced. This got me laughing all the time and also make me cry. I send kudos to the whole team and the actors. What an amazing performance by Kengo Kora he made the character so believable... and I agree with @Mike Warr I think we all should aim to be like this kind of person, someone people can count as a reliable one. What I love about the character is that he was so "ordinary" but at the same time so amazing. Hopefully I'll meet people like him or even better become one myself. Too bad I live in the middle of nowhere and had to watch it online.
Pondloso Sep 10 2014 10:11 am This movie just EPIC i really really love to see more of it japan just this it again with another master piece for me it not about special effect not about super 3D picture or anything special
It just about ordinary guy with ordinary story but came out more epic than a lot of super big budget movie..
WARNING!!!! Watch this movie before you die and you will die in peace coz you will know how to live a peaceful life from this movie for sure.
N Aug 19 2014 12:00 am 10/10!! I love the pacing of the movie and how it shows that we are not forgotten by the people we have encountered throughout our lives. I really loved this movie because of the issues presented in the film and how Yonosuke handles them. It is a 2 hour film and I honestly didn't want it to end :) The actors and actresses are very natural and I'm glad that I got to watch this
Mike Warr Nov 20 2013 8:35 am Hi I see why this film wins awards. I saw it at the Japan Film Festival in Sydney. The story is riveting. The cinematography is fantastic. I walked out of this film profoundly affected and deeply upset at the loss of a character I did not know but wanted to. Yonosuke is one of those people we aspire to be but aren't. A person with a kind heart, a bit goofy, yet he seems to inspire and help all of those around him. Kato comes out to him and probably for the first time finds acceptance in his real self. Shoko is a bit obsessed with him. These are all stages we all go through. When Shoko grows up, I never think she got over him. He was her first love. I did not understand why they broke up, but they did. He lends the first people he meets at uni the money to set up house when they get pregnant. The weird neighbours befriend him. People seem to like this ordinary guy that is just a really good bloke.
I walked out of this film wanting to be a better person. It is inspiring. Rent it, Buy it, Beg for it, Borrow it or Steal it if you have to, but make sure you see it.
zalle Nov 20 2013 7:02 am i thought the movie was somehow related to another japanese movie entitled 26 years diary because there the lead actor (Korean) there aged 26 also lost his life in a train accident along with a Japanese man (not sure if he was a photographer) trying to save a lady who fell.
Minhee Aug 01 2013 11:24 am Kengo Kora with messy hair is super cute! can't wait to see this movie!
Atsushi Dec 24 2012 2:02 am i want to see Yuriko....
