As in the scheme of life and all things, change must occur,...well not must as much as does anyhow regardless of intent. The initial concept of this community was revolving around an art show on tv that lost its lackluster for me early on, oops. Oh well, it was me that was expecting something that the show was not. What any of that was isnt important now, and I still love the idea of a community of artists that can openly critique eachother and discover some pretty amazing art, ideas and inspirations. I have set this community to autopilot because I cant drive this whole trip.
Challenge #1 was to create a portrait of one of the contestants on the show, Work of Art The Next Great Artist. Post your paintings as a reply here and detail what you did and why you believe this is a good representation or not. Please comment on the other postings when they start to come in, that way we all get some sort of feeback.
This community was created from an idea for a personal project that I have decided to try to expand into including others. Here was the original journal entry that started it all.
Well now that I have watched the show, just up until they go off to where they will live, I realized some things. This is going to be a hard challenge and the lack of feedback and interaction with others may be inhibiting. So I created a community, that actually might be fun to do besides being a vessel for my project.
( Collapse ) Now on to "the challenge piece" so I have to pick an artist to create a portrait of, so far my favorite is Erik, I get where he is coming from and I really like the pieces of his I have seen, it feels familiar to me and while others see dark exterior a closer look inside reveals soft and fuzzy. BUT I will not pick him because on the show they had to be paired up randomly and that is what I will do as well so I end up with Miles, who I actually like the least right now mainly for selfish reasons, he seems so snooty with his fancy techniques,... but maybe its just cause I don't know how to execute them that I feel this way. I do not have the ability to sit and talk with him as they did on the show, so I am using a completely superficial opinion to base my art on but it will do. Since on the show they had just one day to complete their portraits, I will do the same, besides I have a self portrait to create first and I need a couple of days for this one. I will set deadline for my portrait of Miles to be complete on Monday 06/14/2010, that way I can begin on Sunday.
Anyone else that wants to join in the challenge, here are your guidelines. 1: Pick an artist from the Bravo! show The next great artist to create a portrait of, if you don't have on demand or dvr on your tv, catch the episode online and watch it up until before they go to the gallery show. 2: Use any medium you want. 3: You have 1 day to complete your piece of art from the time you begin 4: Post your art as a reply to this post 5: Critique someone else's art
