I didn't realize until today that there had been a glaring change at WeHeartIt when I wanted to add something to my Christmas collection. All collections have been deleted, you can no longer log in, nothing works anymore. It's as if all accounts have been deleted. I am so sad. My heart is broken. I loved using WeHeartIt for a good ten years. Now it's garbage. :(
This is my email to the WeHeartIt team: I don't expect a reply back, but I thought I'd write you some feedback on the changes you've made to WeHeartIt. You have completely ruined a platform that many people enjoyed and used often. So many beautiful collections are gone, the contacts, the stories. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Unfortunately, WeHeartIt is now completely useless. You can actually delete the app now, nobody wants to use it anyway!
Titel: How It Should Have Ended!
Once again I have been drawn to the Livejournal. And the old, bright layout caught my eye - literally. So I sat down and created a nice, new layout in dark colors.
And since I've been a big fan of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds since the first episode, I thought a corresponding layout was quite appropriate. :D
I hope you're all doing well, wherever you are. I've been unable to work since October 2022 due to burnout and depression. I am currently waiting to be admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation clinic where I hope to recover.
I don't even know what made me look in on LJ again. Probably nostalgia. The longing for the good old days. Fandoms are not what they used to be. I know almost no active portfolios anymore. There used to be so many creative people posting their fanarts, icons, etc. Now, most creative outpourings (including mine) are limited to fanfiction. And also the writing has decreased a lot. There is also hardly any feedback from outside, so the motivation suffers a bit. And then, of course, there's real life, which always gets in the way. Now, for example, I've been on sick leave since the beginning of October and would have time, but the muse has let me down.
I'm also currently looking for a new job, since I literally worked myself to death in the hospital. First I had a lumbago, but that was only the beginning. The whole thing was crowned by a massive burnout and depression. I don't like to take medication because I haven't had the best experience with it in the past. So I take 'Calmvalera' several times a day, it's herbal and not addictive.
My applications are running. Let's see where it will take me.
11. An "OT3" or threesome? Jonathan Archer, Charles 'Trip' Tucker and Hoshi Sato from Star Trek Enterprise.
12. Favorite Person and Animal Companion Relationship? Flora and Black Beauty from the radio play that I loved as a kid! Still have it.^^
13. Your first pairing? I was about to say Mulder and Scully from the X-Files, but actually it was Brenda Walsh and Dylan McKay.
14. Your most recent pairing? Marcy Warton and David Mailer from Travelers (Netflix)
15. Favorite non-canon pairing? Het: Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padmé Amidala from Star Wars I - III. Slash: Jim Kirk and Leonard H. McCoy from the Star Trek Reboot Movies.
11) Genre – do you prefer certain genres of fic when you're writing? What kind do you tend to write most? Who does not have a favourite genre. I'm a lot into romance, slash and family stuff.
12) Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favourite book or movie but set in a different fandom? No I haven't.
13) Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material? I like a healthy mix of canon and fanon. Alas most slash is more fanon than canon, isn't it. ;)
14) Ratings – how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead? I am a grown up woman, so I do write and read whatever I like. I do not care about ratings. Never have ...
15) Warnings – What do you feel is most important to warn for, and what's the strangest thing you've warned for in a fic? Well, I always warn about rape, torture and all kinds of abuse, since these could trigger some people.
I'm on AO3 - sort of. And sometimes a bit on Tumblr. But to be honest, there's no place like livejournal. Like it used to be. And I miss it! All the new places are not the same ...
8. Favorite partners in crime relationship? Dawson Leery and Pacey Witter from Dawson's Creek.
9. Favorite family unit (four or more people)? I really had to think about that one, because most families and the shows and movies I love are kind of broken, leaving only two or three family members. BUT than I thought back - really, really far back and there they are. The Walsh Family from 90210 - Jim, Cindy, Brandon and Brenda Walsh! My first fandom ever! How could I forget them?
10. Least favorite pairing? Joey Potter and Dawson Leery from Dawson's Creek. Chakotay and Seven from Star Trek Voyager.
8) Do you write OCs? And if so, what do you do to make certain they're not Mary Sues, and if not, explain your thoughts on OCs. Sure, I write OCs. Did create a bunch for virtual series and as far as I can tell none of the chars were Mary Sues. None of these chars fell in love with a main character and he/she with the OC. My OCs are not without flaws, not perfect ...
9) Pairings – For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your three favourite pairings to write? Joey/Pacey from Dawson's Creek, John Sheppard/Rodney McKay from Stargate Atlantis and Jim Kirk/Leonard McCoy from Star Trek (my OTP)
10) Pairings – Have you ever gone outside your comfort zone and written a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't write, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could? Oh yes. I always loved the thought of Kira Nerys and Miles O'Brien, but in the middle of my fanfic I learned that they wouldn't fit as much as I thought. That was kind of strange. And then there are Christine Chapel and Montgomery Scott from Star Trek. Never thought of them as a couple, but it kind of happend someday in my fics and I like that pairing ever since. :)
