Paurenfeyndt was revolutionary for a lot of reasons.

In 1516 he published the first (known) printed book on the German school of fencing as patterned after Johannes Liechtenauer.
The book was unique firstly in that it was printed, but also in that the target audience was beginner fencers rather than the nobility. He writes in largely plain language and describes foundational teachings.

The artwork is also printed. The interesting thing I noticed about the printed plates is that the illustrations were split into two blocks so that the figures on each side could be re-used as needed. The colours are changed to add variety. This is a rather ingenious method to reduce the printing costs and labour involved in production. Here is an animated GIF demonstrating the re-used blocks.
