Synchronized Chaos Magazine invites visual and written submissions

All artists and writers in this community are invited to submit work to the literary/artistic/cultural/nature and travel writing/scientific webzine Synchronized Chaos. (http://www.synchchaos.com) This includes novel excerpts - we encourage novelists to provide some description of the project along with the excerpt and a link where the whole piece may be purchased. We also do book reviews for fiction and nonfiction.

The brainchild of some of my friends and colleagues, along with myself, the publication provides thoughtful art/cultural/literary/scientific/social commentary/essay material. Our title comes from the mathematical concept of chaos theory - the study of whether we can find order in systems which seem to be random at first glance, whether anything in nature can be proved to be truly random or whether some systems just seem that way because we don't know enough about the initial conditions. This is a social experiment and a fun way to stay coherent without limiting our contributors' creativity or having to turn away excellent work because it isn't a fit.

Audacious лучший аудио плеер для Linux


Audacious - открытый, небольшой, но мощный похожий на winamp аудиоплеер для операционных систем семейства Linux,  с поддержкой огромного числа разнообразных аудиоформатов.
Audacious полностью поддерживает скины от Winamp 2 "classic". Для интерфейса аудиоплеера используется GTK+ 2.
Есть поддержка разнообразных плагинов , в частности плагин для last.fm, плагин поддержки LIRC,плагины для различных эффектов таких как например "удаление голоса",реверберация,эхо, и т.д.Кроме того есть поддержка плагинов для визуализации. Audacious можно назвать единственным проектом - "наследником" XMMS.
Так что если вы до сих пор используете XMMS или BMP — попробуйте Audacious.

Plug for a colleague's indie film project

Synchronized Chaos Magazine's (http://www.synchchaos.com)'s contributing writer Faracy Grouse (http://www.faracy.org) is creating an indie movie! Here’s the synopsis:

I want to start filming this April and finish by the end of 2009.
The only way Madelaine, a final year PhD student, is able to make sense of her life is to maintain her exacting routine. Surviving a turbulent childhood at the hands of a distant mother and drug-addict father who took her from fascist Spain to cold war Russia in search of an ideal life, she defects to America only to find herself drawn back to Spain and into a dysfunctional marriage of her own.
Now in London, she meets Lisboa, a charming but reckless Portuguese sous-chef who forces her to face the past which nearly destroyed her.

PAYING MARKET looking for submissions

the magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a twist, is now accepting submissions for our fourth issue. We are looking for Cover art (color) as well as inside art (black & white).

Each month, Crossed Genres chooses a "theme" genre and combines it with Science Fiction and/or Fantasy. Cover Art submissions must have aspects of both the current theme genre and Sci-Fi and/or Fantasy. Inside art can be anything Sci-Fi or Fantasy. The January theme is CRIME.
