"People think Britain is the first to have a referendum ending with a vote to leave the EU. But Greenland, which is a part of Denmark, voted Leave in 1979 and left in 1985. Faroe Islands, also Danish, are likewise not part of the EU as stipulated in the Rome Treaties. This is not a problem for Denmark. So it boils down to political will from both the UK and the EU."
