the fandoms of games that are developed by/played by trans women always try really hard to erase us. TME Ultrakill fans, for example, have a million jokes about the main antagonist being a femboy or the game turning you into a girl, but turn on trans women in a heartbeat and never acknowledge the work put in by the trans women who develop the game. its never about appreciating and loving the trans women important to a game’s community, its always just using us as an aesthetic, an accessory to promote the game before being thrown away. same case with Celeste.

As someone very active in the celeste community, this is spot on. So much transmisogyny festers there because "it's the trans girl game, how could we possibly be transmisogynistic!".

I think the false idea of trans girl overrepresentation is even more prevalent there, because since the community has lots of trans girls, people act like they have a monopoly or something and they need to take those evil trannies down a notch. Ironically, when a big community census was done, it was discovered the community is actually majority cis men lol

There was a big scandal where one of the popular trans girl streamers was basically witch hunted out of the community and stalked for talking about topics on stream that seemed "a bit fetishistic" (it was not sexual).

Someone recently tried to suggest banning egg jokes entirely in the main discord server. The suggestion had majority support.

It's a horribly transmisogynistic community.

When a community has more tranfems in it than others, it doesn't take much for the TMEs to interpret that community as being "Dominated" by transfems, even when the transfems are still well and truly an extremely small minority.

As such they'll believe that they have to push back on it "to keep balance."

Reminds me of how a study showed that if women were allowed to speak more than 12% of the time in group discussions, men within the group would come to believe that women were "dominating" those discussions.
