Day 1: In your own space, talk about why you are doing the Fandom Snowflake Challenge? What drew you to it as a participant? What do you hope to accomplish by doing these challenges? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

i haven't done fandom snowflake before, but i like having something to post about regularly (challenges are good, in that they focus the mind and ensure something you might have just been thinking about actually happens). i also like talking about fandom (clearly) and about myself (well, indeed) - and i think it's a good cause, in that it's either encouraging you to interact with people/tell them you liked their work (which is what will make fandom happen, really - as well as making that particular person's day probably), or it's directing other people to works that you find good (which does much the same thing).

went to historic dockyard today (involved waking up at at 6am. not appreciated) - which was again, v good. only got 5/10 on an easy battle of trafalgar quiz and had to take it again, this time acing the quiz and validating own presence at historical site. saw the warrior this time, and the museums. not much to add, except to remind everyone that....... the historic dockyard is great! you should go.

in fandom-news, i thought i might start writing the blake fanlore page tonight, but before i started that i thought i'd update fanlore as to what blake fandom has been doing with itself for the last year or so. was it right that fanlore had no record of 'avon and jaguars' being a popular (shut up, it is very popular) meme in this period? no, it was not right. fear not - i have added it. check it out in section 5.3.3.

http://fanlore.org/wiki/Blake%27s_7

but anyway - the point is that, unfortunately, rather than just merrily adding my piece about me - i mean, us - i decided to completely re-structure the entire article (which i liked before - it's given me loads of useful info - but when i started looking at it, i thought... why is this here? repeatedly. so... now it looks different)(you can tell i've been here, not only because jaguars are mentioned, but also because there are suddenly three mentions of chris boucher on a page that previously only referred to the 'sharp, political scripts' and left it at that).

so anyway that took two hours. and isn't at all finished (i want to move that star trek business to another page for a start, and re-think the pictures that are linked, although i'm strangely fond of that carnell one. i says 'blake's 7 on fanlore' to me... so i think it will probably stay). no mention at all of fanart... and obviously the websites/communities thing needs to be updated. also - if you are reading this and you aren't n the list of people associated with our era, i apologise - i am very tired after lots of walking around sailing ships and thinking about how amazing nelson was (mandatory, i'm afraid), but it's not really any excuse. feel free to add yourselves! and any other extra info that you think is necessary. if you want to move that b7/trek thing to a new page, feel free to do that too :)

oh - and i haven't started my blake page at all. if you feel like doing that, go ahead. i've been avoiding it because a) i haven't read enough gen and b) i will have to talk about how everyone hates him, but i feel he should get a page and i would like putting nice fanart of blake in amongst the text...

...i should go to sleep now.

Ok - here's the first of... at least two posts this morning. I have a backlog...

This one will mainly be pictures though. Hmm.. I'm writing in caps. Not sure why that's happening. I guess I could stop... we'll see how it goes.

Leaving work was OK, btw, in case you were wondering. I started panicking at about 4pm that I hadn't finished all my work... I'm not a super conscientious employee, btw, I just fear people tutting behind my back. Then I had a board room party with a lot of people who didn't really know me, which was fine, and then a very nice pub visit with about 8 people who did. So that was good. Work gave me a relatively conservative number of Tatty Devine gift vouchers and rather than burn a hole in my pocket I went out yesterday and bought some massively expensive jewellery, heavily supplementing the gift vouchers with my own lack of self control. Excellent.

ONE DAY TO GO.

Argh.

But in the meantime, here is a quick post about Amsterdam.

in case you don't know - ah, the no-caps is back - i went to amsterdam last weekend with erin and bagheera_san, in large part to attend the euro fandom conference (n.b.most of this write up is about fandom, with some photos of amsterdam at the end) )
