So, after a wonderful birthday dinner for Carla, we proceeded to drive back to her house to watch Dr. Horrible. We stopped at a red light, where a drunk (and possibly high) driver with a dog in his car rear ended Jaime's car, causing her car to hit mine, and proceeded to attempt to drive away while his car was in flames. Yeah. We're all okay, except for Jaime's car which is totalled. Just hoping Jaime doesn't have a concussion or anything. It was like something out of a movie. You heard the crunching sound, felt the shockwave, and then felt the hit. Then WOOSH! Flaming car is driving by you! Luckily the guy didn't get far in his car filled with smoke and was arrested on the scene. Peanut is at home with my parents getting fixed and they let me and Aaron drive the truck back to Bryn Mawr.
It's strange, you never really think about the way cars are built to be safe until something like this happens. All I kept thinking about on the way home was how lucky we were that it all wasn't much much worse.
I've been doing the relaxing thing, and it's nice. Crocheting my own lace. it's tedious, and I could probably never do it for profit (well at least lace as by the yard trim) but it's still fun and nice to be making something that I'm going to use on garments I'm making. I may look into making collars and fancy decorations.
I'm looking into getting window/banister boxes for my deck. I have the urge to grow stuff. Just need to find plants/herbs that grow in mostly shade. Any ideas? Beuhler??? Carla??? :P
Started bellydance class back up this month. I'm in the "beyond basics" class now! I'm really loving it. Oh yeah, C. We're totally on for some of the events in that link you sent me. TOTALLY ON!!!
Alrighty, time to peel myself away from the history channel specials on tv and get some sleep.
Sitting here among my bags of stuff getting ready to head back to PA. Christmas was very nice. It's amazing how much you miss the people you're far away from, especially when you'd grown sed to seeing them all the time. So yay for hanging with family and friends!
I'm headed down to Ocean to get myself fingerprinted so i can hopefully teach this one kid in Cherry Hill once a week. Oh the things I do for my job. Hey, I get paid for mileage and it's a nice break in the workweek. And I'll be in the same town as Nettie!
Then, I'm headed to Cheeseburger in Paradise for a little dinner reunion with the deaf ed girls. It'll be nice to see them again. Then I get to spend one night at my apartment before me and Aaron head off to Massachussets for the TMBG New Years Eve Concert!
Busy busy busy!
I got a George Foreman grill for Christmas. I'm excited!
How behind I am. So behind I haven't started yet. I had a serious brain fart. Creativity has been escaping me for a while now. Though after watching a marathon of The Universe on History Channel and driving the hour and a half back to Bryn Mawr from my parents' place (still weird to say that lol) I've gotten an idea that I actually want to see through. I'm thinking of calling it "Westward at Sunset". That or simply "Entanglement". I don't know. Both kind of remind me of trashy romance novels... oh well. The title is the least of my worries. :P
Oh if only progress reports weren't due this month...
On that note, I realized that I didn't really update on the move and the job. So I'll do that later when I'm feeling more spritely. I've been so tired lately.
So part 2 of the pre-moving went well. I now have a dining room table and chairs and a rug! Put a whole bunch of my clothes up in the closet. I'm still giddy over the fact that I have an entire walk-in closet all for myself! My clothes can finally breathe and hopefully not have to be put in out of-season bins. It's nice to have different walls for different things. I even have half of one of the closet walls dedicated to my loli clothes. I can actually see all of what I have! It was funny. As my mom was helping me hang stuff up (we both fit in the closet), she points to my Meta velveteen skirt and goes. "Now this is the CUTEST skirt." Then she looks over to the left and sees the Girly note replica and goes. "oh my goodness, so is this one!" Girly note is the last skirt I would have expected her to like.
Wednesday is the real move-in day. Still have some stuff to do. - set up appt with ENT - call to order contact lenses, and pray they don't want me to set up another appointment. (This right eye is just wacky. I don't like my old contact nor the new one. I'm tempted to go back to my old old pair that's weaker. I'm hoping it's not an eye pressure thing. Though they keep checking it and saying it's normal.) - call Mrs. Upperman and pay her a visit before I leave. - pack up what's left in my room - go through the cabinet downstairs (possibly the attic)
The area I'm moving to is so cute! I'm a walk away from this main street with lots of little shops and restaurants. It's odd, there aren't too many chain restaurants, but so many interesting little places, that I want to try. Like a gourmet pizza shop and two Japanese restaurants. There's also an old movie theater! I saw one or two thrift shops too. There's a nice park down the way, as well, with a little bike trail. My only hope is that the area doesn't get too college-y when the semester starts. Been there. Done that. Don't need your drunken ruckus on my doorstep. (man I sound like a crotchety old man, but you get the idea). But we'll hope for the best. There may even be some interesting exhibits, lectures, or plays to see there.
And so, the move begins. I'm missing the Cloisters meetup, which sucks. But it's gotta be done. At least in a few more days, I won't be living out of boxes.
