I am posting because I thought you guys would be interested in a group of lesbian filmmakers. We have an award winning script and a GREAT team of talent and experience.
The problem: We are in North Carolina and it is a lesbian film. So when we did finally get funding we lost it.
So now, a grassroots approach: we are going to do this our own way.Just us as women, as lesbians and as filmmakers. Basically it's about getting to do what we want to do without bowing down or selling out to the men in the area with the money and the power. AND we have a plan:
We've started a website and are going to try to get people to donate ONE dollar a person and in return we will thank them by name in the credits...all 500,000 of them. We are also selling tops and undies to promote our cause, our art. The site is http://www.heroinefilms.net for those of you interested in helping our vision become reality.
Due to creative differences we have parted ways with long-time friend and bass player Anne-Marie Stehn. It was a difficult and painful decision for all of us. We only wish the best for Anne-Marie in all her personal and musical pursuits and we know she'll be successful in whatever she chooses to do. As for Antigone Rising, we have a new bass player named Jen Zielenbach. Jen hails from Philadelphia where she's played with several bands. Jen will make her on-stage debut with us tomorrow night at Schuba's in Chicago. Be sure to come out and say hi at one of our upcoming shows!
I went to my first AR show last night in Providence. My girlfriend dragged me into going, and I really wasn't expecting them to be good at all. Well... anyway... they rocked. I had such a blast. Hopefully they'll come to RI or MA again soon... I can't wait.
hey y'all...does anyone know if AR will be playing in the buffalo/fredonia area anytime soon? how about the hartford/new haven area? or even northampton, mass? i've been trying to view their website, but it's not loading on my pc for some odd reason. thanks so much you guys!
