Fans Against Fandom Rape

so many fandoms are dominated and exploited by most of the things that are considered to be fandom rape.
Tumblr is a prime example of it getting out of control and using fandom to push agendas.

I hate seeing female characters getting pushed aside, ignored, bashed, written out of character in horrible ways to make people hate them, vilify the female characters, nitpick female character flaws OR if she lacks flaws then she's dubbed a mary-sue.
Most fans that are guilty of this are the slash and yaoi fans. seriously i dont care what people ship but butchering female characters so they can feel validated in their OOC fanon ship is just moronic, for lack of a better word

Okay, where to begin... I found this community after I typed in "anti-twincest" in the Interest search bar, and just had to join. So for my first rant, I'm going to choose something that's been bothering me for awhile.

I've never owned a Nintendo. As such, I've never had the chance or opportunity to play the Legend of Zelda games. I know, I fail at gaming forever for saying that, but for what it's worth, I've always wanted to try my hand at Ocarina of Time and Twilight Princess.

Unfortunately, it's hard for me to be interested in LoZ, or at least be enthusiastic about it, when I'm constantly exposed to LoZ yaoi, rape, and Mpreg by a friend of mine. Now I hate complaining about this particular friend, because she is a nice person, but everytime we're in an online RPG and she plays as Legend of Zelda characters, I get this horrible feeling that she's raping the characters. I've never played the games, so I could be wrong, but I doubt that Link wants to fuck Sheik, or that he wants to fuck Dark Link. Ontop of that, I hate how in every RPG, she always has one of said characters become the victim of MPreg.

There are three things that really piss me off when it comes to fandom. One is Kingdom Hearts yaoi (particularly Axel/Roxas and Sora/Riku), second is twincest (especially Dante/Vergil) and last is Mpreg. Out of those, I think I hate Mpreg the most, especially when said friend keeps bringing up how much of an Mpreg fan she is around me when she's aware that I dislike it, and that she keeps saying things like "It could have a logical explaination behind it!" to justify why Dark Link is shooting a baby out of his ass. I'd go into a rant about how male pregnancy isn't logical and how the only "logical" Mpreg involves sea horses, but I'm sure we all know about that. So I won't write it out.

But seriously, part of me wonders if she knew how much she's totally taking the fun out of me experiencing LoZ if she would stop or not. I try to be openminded and love an anime or a video game for what it is, and not because of how ridiculous the fandom is, but this is really making me sick.

Has anybody had something similiar to this happen to them?

I joined this community to say my little peice about something. I do agree that things such as mary sues, incest/twincest, real person fics, ooc pairings, and almost everything else on you're little list, are, well, just plain bad ideas. However, I wanted to say something about slash.

Slash isn't always bad. I myself write slash (I am not, however, a "slasher") for one pairing (CSI: Miami, Ryan/Eric). I don't write it because I wanna write slash and it seems like a good idea, I don't write it for the sake of writing all out m/m smut (which I can't write for crap, anyway), and I don't write it because I'm a "slasher" (as I mentioned above). I write it because Ryan and Eric have tension in the show. There is evidence that something could possibly happen between the two (although, it probably won't).

I hate OOC Pairings. And, for some reason, a lot of extremely OOC pairings show up slashed (like Simon/Jayne from Firefly... blegh!), which is probably another reason that Slash gets a bad rep. However, if you look, you can find some good slash fics, with pairings that make some semblence of sense and aren't justified by "they looked at each other" or "they're friends" (I mean, c'mon! How many friendships acutlaly translate into good romantic relationships anyway? Few... very few).

I've found quite a few good slash fics, mostly Ryan/Eric (because they're the only slash pairing I currently support... or whatever it is). One of my favourites being Undeserved In Four Movements on ff.net (I don't remember who wrote it, but it's a great fic). I've also found a good femslash fic (one I stumbled on by accident on ff.net) that's a Cold Case/Gilmore Girls crossover with a Lilly/Lorelai pairing (I can't remember the title or the author... eek). The author managed to keep both characters in character and still create a great story.

Also, I'm a shipper at heart (and a friggin tv junkie). I ship on CSI, CSI NY, Cold Case, Bones, Numb3rs, Firefly, Gilmore Girls, House, even The Flash which was only on TV for one season in the early 90's (you know Barry and Tina had to get together eventually, and Julio and Sabrina are the greatest canonical couple ever!). Shippers aren't all bad, and neither are Het or Slash fics. You just have to look. Yeah, you'll run into your fair share of smut (in either ship, slash or het), but not all people who write slash are bad at writing it, and not all fanfiction writers are bad at writing. (sorry, I kinda rambled).
