 Gem Antonelli - Copycat From the Wildstorm/DC comic series DV8 Name: Gemma Antonelli Alias: Gem, Copycat Status: Gen-active; Gem is a neuro-dominator - she has the ability to temporarily take control of others bodies by making contact or being within proximity to them. She has to mimic the actions she wants her victim to perform (like shooting with an imaginary gun if her victim is supposed to shoot with a gun). Currently, each of her five personalities can grab ahold of the mind of a different victim, holding on until that personality can take over control of their shared body. While previously shown that she could picture what she wanted controlled minds to do, she's been unable to do this since her mind re-fractured. Update: Within RP canon, Gem is now able to control people without miming actions, but it is more difficult for her to do. She will still use the miming when she wants to do something quickly. The other personalities can also grab onto people once more. The larger the crowd of people she grabs, the harder it is for her to hold on, and she must mime all behaviors. There is also some psychic bleed when she grabs a mind one-on-one. She can hear thoughts, but it's more garbled noise with an occasional clear idea here and there. She cannot communicate through this, with the only possible exception being the mind of a telepath, but those are goddamned hard for her to grab. [[OOC caveat: Gem is capable of grabbing any brain that hasn't had training or isn't alien/god/non-human/Hulk/etc. If you're not cool with her doing it, let me know! I'm very flexible.]] Height: 5'1" Ish. Hair Color: Fire engine red Eye Color: Red Distinguishing Marks: Red 77 tattoo on shoulder, Celtic seal on her chest, series of hearts down her spine between her shoulder blades. Age: 24 History: Gem was all but born into I.O.. She was one of the earliest members of the Deviants, the pet project of Ivana Baiul, but from the beginning it was unclear if she would stay on the team. She was prone to fear, unable to stomach missions without problems. At the behest of Matthew Callahan, who saw her ability's potential, that she was kept from being eliminated (quite literally). Her psyche already fragile, when a run-in with a creature on Caballito Island and a further run-in with Bliss left her with five distinct personalities. Unlike other cases of Multiple Personality Disorder, the personalities are all aware of one another, and interact. Often, this made her teammates uncomfortable - they thought she was simply insane. Because of feedback recieved from Threshold during a mission in which he tried to kill the team and she attempted to control him, and a further shot of feedback from Freestyle during a training session, Gem's personalities were forced down and she was left only as Gem, the default personality. It was then that she realized that the earlier run-in with Bliss had resulted in Bliss causing the break in her psyche, as Bliss tried to hide just how powerful a telepath she was. When the team dissolved, though, it was apparent that the long-term affect of Bliss' tampering with her mind had caused a rift that wasn't so easily repaired. Gem enjoyed a few short months of integration before the stark reality of her life caused her to fracture once more. All four additional personalities came back with a vengence. Too broken to be of use to I.O., and terrified they were going to eliminate her, Copycat damaged her replacement implant and took off. She kept far from people, and when things stressed her out, Soldier had a tendency to take over and strip the memories from Gem. She doesn't remember a lot of the time, except for when she landed in Chicago. There, she built a simple life for herself, seeking therapy to try and heal her fractured mind. The MPD has gotten to a point that she can maintain long periods of lucidity without interruption when not under stress, but they're always there. Recently, she has come back to New York, and she had no idea why. But she's glad she did. Update: There has been a shitload of RP canon built. If you have questions, ask!
