I was saddened to read this news today. Miep was an incredible lady and without her contribution to Anne Frank's life and story we would never have known what went on in the secret annexe.

As many of you know, Anne was very influenced by the Joop ter Heul series written Cissy van Marxveldt. She mentions them in her diary and also addresses her letters to characters from those books. anotherplay posted some wonderful photos of these books here at prettybooks for those who are interested.
Early this morning the Biography channel aired a mini biography of Anne. It was kind of nice to watch it. And then I found this article. It has a picture of what Anne might've looked like today had she lived.
Hello hello, I am another girl who is completely inspired and moved by the words and strength of Anne Frank. My parents are German and Swedish in heritage, but most of my short life I have grown in a Polish town near the German border. For a long time I was tormented at school, plagued with guilt and anger at the past, being around people who have had so much tough history I felt immense shame, as well I felt disliked at some of the words I was called due to where I was from. My father introduced me to the diary of Anne Frank when I was 10 years old, and I feel this has shifted my life and brought in new perspective and insight. I was moved, Anne was so open to divine love in a time of oppression, a pillar of strength and determination. Filled with intellect and inspiration! The whole diary I read with closed breath, wishing so dearly I could help the family, stop the war, intervene and pause time. However, I can not, but I hope with all my heart that Anne's words will leave everyone with a lasting impression, and help to prevent such horrible mistakes in the future.
Today I wanted to share with you an illustrated book which sensitively retells Anne Frank's story. The pictures are very beautiful and provide visualisation to what it may have been looking in the past, what was the reality for those unfortunate. In the drama to be shown this week, Anne, a Jewish victim of the Nazis, is shown having her first experience of love, kissing a boy with whom she is hiding from the Nazis.
The portrayal is a deliberate attempt to make Anne a more rounded character than in previous versions that have shown her more as a child martyr and symbol of Jewish suffering.
