In elementary school, my best friend and I had this game we would play where we were school supplies living inside a child's desk and going on slice-of-life adventures inside it. And I remember that a key component of our school supply society was a sort of religious schism that existed around the purpose and nature of the giant hand that occasionally reached in to grab different citizens, use them, and then return them, because most school supplies considered this an auspicious and enviable moment of being selected for a greater purpose and allowed a glimpse of a vast truth, but pencils considered it a horrible portent of doom because they always got sharpened during it and came back smaller and closer to death. We were third graders btw.

I just want to state again…if Noah Wyle had a hair transplant…he would have more hair…..

ria-luna

Seriously. His hairline is still so clearly visible. We've been seeing photos and videos of him for months, even recently, and it's been exactly the same—except longer. Notably so. It's been commented that the longer hair is his sabbatical hair. We've been waxing poetic about it. Photos and videos from after this was filmed. From before.

Do not kid yourselves that you can look at a brief teaser trailer and ascertain that he had a cosmetic procedure done just because it's been styled differently.

You Noah haters really have goldfish brains, don't you? You forget the context of the first season. You forget the interviews literally just done. One lap around the bowl and your frothing at the mouth over something you very clearly made up. The lack of critical thinking amongst you is legitimately astounding. You really are this fucking stupid.

And I want to point out as well: If he had gotten hair plugs, who the fuck cares? People deserve to feel good about the body they're in. That's one of the things we're fighting for. Noah, a known trans ally, fights for this. Gender affirming care. It's for everyone. No exceptions. No questions asked.

People deserve to feel good in the body they're in.

angieflynns

And to add that by and large anybody complaining specifically about the idea of him having a transplant is not doing so because they somehow think it makes him less sexy or they threw body positivity out the window. They support Noah feeling good in his body.

They’re doing so because a lot of the people backing the claims have these weird stories about him having gotten it in Turkey as a stopover after flying back from Israel where they’ve suddenly decided he went because they’re not even trying to hide their antisemitism/bigotry now.

So while the sentiment of Noah doing whatever he needs to love his body is great, the intentions of the rumor being spread aren’t about that…and it’s genuinely more disturbing than anything else I’ve seen so far from his obsessed haters.

I think that person who took a screenshot of my post about how people don’t understand Langdon’s chronic pain and edited the chronic pain part out were it just said it was about life is on the same general page as me if I understood correctly.

However, the chronic pain part really is fundamental to how I intended my post so I really wish they hadn’t done that.

manchineel perfec t place for rest under in rain

is-the-post-reliable

RATING: 🟢 RELIABLE 🟢

Manchineel do fit the description here. There are noted for being sweet smelling and tasting, with a large stone insisde.

From Britannica: 'The sweet-scented fruits are borne singly or in pairs and range in color from yellow to reddish. The fruit contains a hard stone that encloses six to nine seeds.'

The most common reaction to ingestion seems to be oral blistering with burning sensation, rather than numbness. However, as this individual claims to have licked and not eaten any, this could account for the descrepancy.

From Britannica: 'Consumption of the fruits is potentially lethal and frequently causes burnlike blisters in the mouth and esophagus.'

Whether it's the most deadly fruit in the world is difficult to say, as there isn't enough data on the subject, but it is highly toxic and frequently considered one of most deadly. Howstuffworks claims the species is 'Known as the most dangerous tree in the world.'

It is often called the death apple tree, apparently named by Spanish invadors.

From Howstuffworks.com: 'The manchineel's small apple-like fruit definitely won't keep the doctor away — it packs such a poisonous punch that the Spanish conquistadors called it the manzanilla de la muerte or little apple of death. This ominous name may sound extreme, but history shows that indigenous peoples used the sap to poison their arrows and contaminate the water supply of the invading Spaniards.'

It is also true that sitting under it during rain can cause harm to skin.

From Britannica: 'The milky sap of the leaves and bark contains an irritating chemical called phorbol, which generates a strong allergic skin reaction. Raindrops falling through the tree can collect phorbol and burn a person standing underneath.'

The claim that 'manchineel perfec t place for rest under in rain' is subjective. Humans may not enjoy the burning skin element, but the striped iguana might think it's the perfect place for a rest, as they're immune to toxic elements of tree.

From Howstuffworks.com: "And it provides a safe home and full belly for one lucky reptile — the garrobo, or striped iguana of Central and South America. Immune to its poison, the garrobo has the tree all to itself."

the whole point of girls doing the not like other girls thing is basically them believing that the girls around them lack an interior life. they were raised on depictions of women as shallow caricatures and they recognize themselves to be actual people with thoughts and feelings, but instead of drawing the conclusion that these depictions of women are incorrect, they draw the conclusion that those depictions of women are correct and that must mean they're smarter and have more substance than the "average" woman. to exit the not like other girls phase means recognizing that all real life women have the same level of interiority as you do, and that depictions of women in the media as consistently empty headed and frivolous are misogynistic stereotypes not grounded in reality.

i say all this to say that to exit a not like other girls phase does not necessitate taking an interest in "traditionally feminine" ways of dress and makeup, nor does it mean never saying anything negative about the beauty industry
