(I apologize for the bad camera phone pics, but it's whats most readily available.)
I thought I would post a cat update--I had hoped to do it sooner but work and frequent vet visits have kept me busy. She is doing well on the insulin so far, but we still have to get her sugar level down, which means one to two day vet visits every week and a half or so to change her amount of insulin, test her sugar and try again. Unfortunately, there is a lot of trial that has to go on, which is more money. Her sugar levels are down to the upper 200s/lower 300s currently (which is down from well above 600). Our target is upper 100s. She requires two shots a day, but is doing ok with them (she is a little sore where she has to get the shots). My other cat is doing well since being on antibiotics for a couple of weeks. Soon, I will have to get her tested again to make sure the kidney and urinary tract infections are gone.
The vet has allowed us to give her post-dated checks, but the cost has still been very high and hard to handle. I've taken deferments on my student loans to be able to move that money over to help with the vet bills. Thanks to
chiara_scuro's suggestion in my last kitty post, I have been able to create a button for one click donations (see the end of this post).
Once again, I know money is tight for everyone I know, but if anyone can spread the word and even just give a dollar it will help. I am also willing to do stuff for people in trade. I can edit papers, do some accounting work, legal research, research of any type really, cook, bake, clean, etc etc, and I'm willing to trade any of my skills for help in aiding my kitty.
I would like to thank all my wonderful friends who have offered me support so far during this trying time. The kind words, donations, and general love and support I've received from you guys is very comforting. I know it's cliche but words simply cannot express the gratitude I have for everyone right now.
