UOGB in the tv series 'Skins'

Is anybody else as excited as me about the Ukes' upcoming appearance in the E4 series "Skins"? I wasn't really aware of the series, (not belonging to the target group and so...) but since I've heard about their plans in September already, I certainly had to do some research and watched a couple of episodes and the more familiar I got with the series, the weirder this all appears. They'll play a song! Together with one of the characters! Oh dear...

Will Grove-White free gig ;)

Just a heads up from MySpace that Will Grove-White and The Others (that would be most of the UOGB in some guise or another then, plus presumably the super talented Ben Castle and other awesome musicians) will be performing at the National Portrait Gallery in London on Friday 10th July at 6.30pm. Seems like a free performance, and is part of the gallery's Friday Night Music programme.
I wish I could go, I bet it'll be a brilliant gig...

UOGB feat. Yusuf (Cat Stevens): now with links!

Hey, there was a very interesting premiere on German TV yesterday. The Ukes and Yusuf, aka Cat Stevens played his song "Piece Train" together live at a late night talk show on Radio Bremen TV/NDR. Hester added some lovely background singing.

I can't really imagine, that there had been a lot of rehearsing for that, I was told, that they hadn't even known the night before what would happen the next day. That was a pretty cool thing!

EDIT: Now somebody was so nice to upload it to YouTube already, so you can enjoy the song here now:

EDIT 2: Here a longer, better quality version from the "ARD Mediathek". That's obviously a legal source of the video (while you never can be sure about that on YouTube). I hope, it's not blocked for visitors from outside Germany.

The Ukes on The Culture Show on BBC2

Last November I was invited to spend an afternoon with the Ukes at Camden Market, where they got filmed for the "busking challenge" of the BBC2 programme "The Culture Show".

It's going to be broadcast on January 23rd, I was told now, but I was also told, that they sometimes change this programme's topics on short notice, so you shouldn't be too disappointed, if it doesn't appear in that date's episode. I'll hopefully get updates right in time, if there will be any change and I'll certainly publish any news immediately on my website.

I have written a little report about this event, which you can find on my website as well.

EDIT: BB2 now mentions the Ukes in their schedule: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0…
