Wahedullah Nazhand, an Afghan mixed martial arts fighter, suffered a first-round knockout loss to Argentina’s Laureano Staropoli during an international bout held in Croatia on Saturday night.
The fight took place in the coastal city of Zadar as part of the 30th event organized by the Fight Nation Championship, or FNC, a regional mixed martial arts promotion in Europe.
Competing in the 77-kilogram division, Nazhand was knocked out in the opening round after being struck by Staropoli, ending the bout early.
The match was part of the FNC 30 fight card, which featured competitors from several countries.
