so that was more work than I imagined it would be

Like, I've had about a month off since my sinus infection from hell, and now it's allergy season. Yay spring! Rather than trying to use the stuff that doesn't work, or Benadryl, which puts me into a coma, I thought I'd get some of the stuff I know in the past has worked, namely anything with pseudoephedrine. It's been awhile since I've bothered. I knew that it is kept under lock and key due to stupid-ass meth labs or something, right? Has been for awhile. So I go up to the pharmacy counter to ask for some and they a)take my driver's license, b)enter like all of my personal information into the computer, c)make me sign a waiver indicating that I will not be using my one box of 12 pills of allergy medicine to make meth.

Seriously, guys, it was easier to get vicodin than this allergy med.

Anyway. I popped a pill and now I'm hoping it will work because it is gorgeous outside but I have the sinus headache from hell and everything itches. Yay allergy season!

oookay. Woke up to flight cancellation news. Rebooked, supposedly connecting flight in Detroit will still leave on time. This might be a good thing if everything goes well, as it cuts down the wait in Detroit from 3 hours to one. If everything goes well being the important part of that sentence.

Somehow this always happens when I fly home. Last summer I couldn't get a flight out until the day after my scheduled departure, for no good reason that I could discern.

Yesterday we watched the Tim Burton version of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory TWICE. Because my mom loves that movie more than is probably sane.

I miss my cat.

I looove fireworks. Loooovve them. No fireworks last year. This year, I got to Michigan in the afternoon, and in plenty of time for fireworks, but instead I was asleep before ten. Which, in Michigan this time of year means before dark, therefore before fireworks.

Grr.

I really really tried to stay awake. But on the first leg of my flight, to Chicago, I was seated at the very back seat of the plane, and didn't think about it until we were in mid-air and I realized that is the bumpiest seat. So, airsick. Not too bad, but enough that I took more dramamine for my second flight and so by the time I got to Kzoo I was nearly zombified. A nap didn't help.

Had birthday dinner with the nephew, who is now an Official Boy (trucks, motorcycles and camo, all the way); but neither of us made it long enough for fireworks.

Bummer.

In happier news, I started on my bit for amand_r while waiting in Chicago. And par for the course, it's running long and I haven't even got to the funny yet.

grrr $@#% metro

So I left on time (yay me) this morning for work... only to spend an hour at the metro station. No trains. The train that did come, which I actually got a seat on, sat there for ten minutes, then kicked us all off and went out of service. So. No trains. Rumors of shuttle buses never materialized (though in all honesty I didn't wait around long). I gave up and walked back home.

Took a nice nap with the kitteh. Just checked the metro site, and there's apparently been a fire at a power station causing electrical havoc with the trains. Still not resolved.

So. Do I wait around (and use up more annual leave) or attempt to make the trek back and catch a bus to another train line?

Hrm.

I suppose  by now the buses will be less crowded.

Also, the current temp + humidity makes it feel like it's 97 F. Yippee!
