Summary: Alexis, Carlos and Rad are reunited with the Autobots.
Author's Notes: The events in this chapter got me so hyper! I wanted to write this fanfic to rewrite Energon, but this will be going off on its own tangent away from events from that part of the timeline.
The days seemed to fly by so fast for Alexis as she managed to get Rad and Carlos to help with cleaning the Autobot Base inside the mountain. Their parents joined in when they were asked to help, knowing fully well that the Autobots had risked their lives to protect the Earth and the town. After telling her two best friends about the vision she had with Starscream, she regained a sense of vigor she hadn't felt in what seemed like years. Rad and Carlos didn't know what to make of it but knew that if Starscream could be brought back, then Alexis would be even happier knowing that the one Transformer she had grown to care so much about was being brought back to the living. What none of them exptected was when the Autobots would be returning, they would be bringing more than just the 'bots that Starscream had mentioned. By the time the Axalon had arrived in the shuttle bay, their parents had already left for their jobs so the kids would have a welcoming reunion with their friends.
"Aw no way! You can't be serious, Jetfire!" Carlos complained when Demolishor and Cyclonus stepped off the ramp that went into the ship. Neither former Decepticons expected this kind of welcoming party, but knew there had to have been hard feelings from Carlos and Rad for what they had done to the children over the course of time when the Decepticons and Autobots were fighting for the Minicons.
"We brought them along to help us begin building new ties to the leaders of the nations here on Earth, Carlos." Jetfire explained as Demolishor and Cyclonus shifted their weight in an uneasy way. "And Alexis, didn't you say that Starscream's Spark is here too?"
"Mn! He came back to me. I was so surprised and relieved. I know it's going to be difficult, but I would really appreciate it if you built him a new body, Red Alert." Alexis said when the light that was Starscream's Spark gave her a warm sensation as it seemed to rest in her hands. "He travelled all the way here from Cybertron for me."
"Gee, I didn't know Starscream cared so much about a human." Cyclonus said in a dumbstruck fashion as he scratched the side of his face. It would have been an understatement to say that he was confused, but he didn't realize anything about the things that Starscream had done with the Autobots or even cared to find out. "Guess we should have taken it easy with him when he came back. But Thrust was so willing to get Galvatron building the Hydra Cannon."
"Hey, what's done is done, Cyclonus. If any of us had known I'd bet Optimus had seen it coming. I wish he didn't leave but his matters are his own and we need to respect the fact that Starscream and Alexis care about each other." Hot Shot said as he tried to cheer up the helicopter. "There's going to be plenty of time to discuss everything after we build that new body for Starscream."
"We can help!" High Wire said as he, Grindor and Sureshock looked to each other. They each had gained more of a vocabulary since the kids had seen them last. "There's bound to be things we can do, like the delicate work that would need prescision work done."
"That does sound like a good idea." Rad said as he put a hand on his Minicon partner's shoulder. He had been watching the situation and smiled at realizing that his best female friend was in love. It didn't seem possible that a human would fall in love with a Transformer, but love transcended things like that. "Maybe Carlos, Alexis and I can help too."
"The help would be appreciated, boys, but I think Alexis is the only one Starscream will want to help me." Red Alert said as he looked at Carlos, Rad and their Minicons. "This will be delicate work and Alexis has been the only one staying here at the base with a good grasp on mechanical and technological work. Maybe you boys can help Demolishor and Cyclonus get settled in and used to living here instead?"
"That'd help. Even though we've been in here before, I don't know where everything is." Demolishor said with a sheepish grin at the memory. It had been a long while since the militaristic robot had been in the base and the last time was to steal the Requiem Blaster from the Autobots. No one really coud blame Demolishor and Cyclonus for flinching at the memory when Galvatron, who was known as Megatron at the time, almost killed Hoist, who at the time was known as Smokescreen.
"Then let's show you around!" Sureshock said excitedly as she, Grindor and High Wire ran over to the two former Decepticons. They looked to Demolishor's and Cyclonus' Minicons and found that they were already raring to go when an uneasy sigh came from the "Bulks," as the Minicons called their Transformer partners. "We'll even show you around the areas set aside for Minicons only!"
Alexis couldn't help but giggle at Demolishor and Cyclonus for their unsure expressions. She knew it would take a while for the two to get used to working in a team and with the Autobots, even though the factions really weren't needed anymore. She felt Starscream's Spark nestled in her cupped hands and smiled inwardly as he sent her messages telepathically. Ever since he came back in this form and talked to her the first time, she had been able to hear and talk to him in this fashion even at great distances. It would have seemed silly if she took his Spark out of the base for the things she needed to do in town. Even though the green pendant she wore had been broken before, it was now whole and unscathed again. This was one of the ways that told Alexis that Starscream was back and she knew, deep in her heart, he would never leave her again.
"Let's get to work for Starscream, alright Alexis?" Red Alert said as he looked down to her through the blue visor that hid his optics. His visor had once been red but had changed colour when Longarm, his Minicon partner, had powered him up after their fight with Nemesis Prime. "There will need to be a few things done before we can secure his Spark in his new body, but we should be able to get the work done in no time."
"Alright, Red Alert. Did anyone manage to save his wing-sword? He wants to keep using it as one of his main weapons." The young woman said as she noticed Scavenger had been quiet for a while. She knew Sideswipe was still on the ship and was remote accessing the systems from the lunar base for more information after Demolishor and Cyclonus gave them the access codes, but Scavenger seemed too quiet. "What's on your mind, Scavenger?"
"I find it comforting that you had been taking care of the base for us while we were gone, Alexis. I know that it was rough to not have us around but now that we're back we can focus on establishing new friendships with the help of you and the boys." Scavenger responded, a warm expression on his face. "I'm just sorry that Optimus couldn't be here to see everything going so well."
"I'm sure we'll see him soon. He didn't want to talk to anyone after Galvatron died and who can blame him?" Hot Shot said with a concentrated expression. He was acting as second in command for the Autobots with Jetfire as the leader in Optimus' absence. "Besides, we've still got Jetfire to help command the troops and Hoist is filling in for us on Cybertron."
"I hope he comes back soon. I'd hate to find out what would happen if somehow Unicron or Galvatron came back and we weren't prepared for them." Alexis said with a worried expression that faded into a faint blush. "But the peace and quiet over the past five years has definitely been a welcomed change. I just... I really want to spend a lot of time with Starscream when he gets his new body."
"Alexis..." Jetfire said softly as he realized how she felt about the Seeker. "We'll need him too to be able to help Demolishor and Cyclonus with the world leaders. You're still in school for your college education and we can't take you out of that. Starscream will still be within communications reach by means of using Laserbeak but we all have jobs to do now. It's just how things have to be."
"Now with that all out of the way, we just need to get to work on building that body. Ready to help, Alexis?" Red Alert asked her as he lowered his hand for her to climb onto it. She wasn't so sure she was happy that Jetfire had plans for Starscream before he even had the chance to voice his opinions, but she was too anxious to get to work in bringing him back among the functional.
Jetfire is right, Alexis. Starscream told her through their telepathic bond. He sounded grave and soothing as she looked down to his Spark. Demolishor, Cyclonus and I will be the ambassadors to Earth for the Decepticons and even with Laserbeak, you'll be able to talk to me over our bond. We won't let what happened five years ago repeat itself while we're gone. I promise.
I trust you with my life, Starscream. I just want to spend time with you and be able to take you up on that offer of exploring the universe with you. Alexis said as she closed her eyes when she felt the warmth he gave her spread through her body. I don't have very much faith that things won't go wrong anymore after what we all went through so long ago.
Have faith. He said simply as he soothed her frazzled nerves by touching her troubled mind with a calming sensation. Alexis was growing to like having this connection to Starscream, even finding it a great comfort knowing that he shared the same feelings for her as she did for him. Soon we'll find out and by then, I'll be back to a fully functional body.
"Let's get down to business here, shall we Alexis?" Red Alert said as he set her beside the computer system in the medical bay where she could help with designing Starscream's new body. It would be the same as he had before, but with a different colour scheme that he approved of. It took the computer systems several hours to construct the body from the parts and armor available, but the body was ready. Once the body was ready, Starscream's Spark left Alexis' presence and entered the body.
Starscream...? Alexis asked as she nudged him through their bond. Her heart stopped in her chest when his optics came online after the systems in his frame booted up with a whirring humm. The familiar wings and frame of the Seeker moved as he controlled his new body and sat on the medical berth before looking to Red Alert and Alexis while a smile came to his faceplates.
