Author's Notes: This was inspired by the drabble "Break It Now" by [personal profile] senmut.

Even as Sunstreaker left Sideswipe in the receiving room of their quarters with anger radiating from his frame, Sideswipe felt like he'd been crushed beneath Grimlock or slagged by Megatron again. He had to cycle air through his intakes for what seemed like hours before he could gather up the pieces of his Spark that shattered in the moment Sunstreaker backhanded him. Raising himself up off the floor, he fled. He fled their quarters, ran through the base like a tidal wave of acid was rushing in after him and threw himself into his Lamborghini Countach alt mode before burning rubber as he sped away. It was raining by now and Red Alert had been trying to hail the frontliner on the comm channels to get him to come back.

He didn't stop until he'd reached the ocean-side area where once upon a time, Megatron had built a turbine system to harness energy to convert into energon. The waves danced along the cliffside as he rolled out to a bluff that stabbed into the water. Transforming back to robotic mode, he fell to his knees and grasped at the loose rocks and sand that covered the terrain. The water spread out before him on an endless plane, broken by swaths of foam and waves that slapped the beaches on either side in an unending cycle. At the horizon he could see a storm quickly approaching and felt the strongest urge to throw himself into the water and meet it head-on, almost in a vengeful streak to make Sunstreaker feel the pain he felt from how callously the golden warrior threw him aside.

"Maybe this is how I'm supposed to leave this world, eh Sunny?" He said aloud, more to himself than the emptiness that he felt both all around him and inside his core. It wasn't doing him any good to try connecting to his twin through the bond they shared. All he felt was a sharp jab of electrical sparks and pain each time while Sunstreaker forcefully blocked him from connecting. "You always viewed yourself as the better one of us, the perfect warrior that both of us were meant to be. If you want to be the only one, then I'll just fade out."

Even as he said those words, lightning began to fork through the steadily darkening sky with thunder crackling in a cascading din that would normally have sent Sideswipe scrambling for safety were he still at the base. With a hardening resolve, he stood tall on the bluff, face upturned into the rain that began pelting his frame. Under other circumstances, he would have tried to wait out the angry storm raging in Sunstreaker's half of their Spark, waited to try to talk to his brother about what was wrong and try to work out the problem that rose up between them. This time it didn't seem like that would ever be the case. The resolve that Sunstreaker used in blocking Sideswipe was too strong for him to pierce, even with how strongly the red and black mech tried to get through to him.

Another lightning strike, another roiling boom of thunder crashing through the clouds that were now overhead. Sideswipe could feel the electricity in the air, the dense air accompanied by fresh rain falling from above. It seemed like Primus was mirroring his mood in the weather as he weighed his options before hearing someone coming from behind. Blinding light from headlights came up with the form of a white, red and blue car. Jazz transformed and walked up to Sideswipe with a pained look on his face.

"C'mon back home, Sides. Y'all need ta talk things over an' make up ta each other." The saboteur said in a calm and soothing voice as he rested a hand on the twin's shoulder.

Oh just heartrending, Sideswipe's emotions! The match with the landscape/weather was very beautifully handled and it really rounds out merfilly's ficlet, showing Sideswipe's side.

Job well done. I couldn't get into Sideswipe's head at all, having been writing SG so much lately, but I do like how you handled this!
